I have a horrible feeling that Spuds won't be allowed to go down as it'll be bad for the "PL brand".  Expect a series of dodgy ref decisions going in their favour a la Manure before the end of the season!

There’s cynicism and then there’s this! The standard of refereeing in this country is God awful, but they’re not corrupt. That’s probably what makes it worse; it would be easier to explain if they were. But the PL isn’t Italy or Spain.

So England have unveiled their new kit for the World Cup. Looks nothing special , although good to see they have reverted back  to red shirts for the 2nd kit but Nike are taking the piss charging £90 for them or £135 for the aero fit match version . Fuck knows what the difference is 
I would imagine Nike will be selling thousands of them ( not) at those prices. I will be digging out my £25 scoredraw retro version come tournament time .

Newcastle do the same, the dearer one is an authentic matchday shirt, the cheaper one's a replica, not quite the same quality. It isn't noticeable to look at but the the Newcastle ones are slightly different.

I don't like Wet Spam either because it also sounds like a 6 year old, and no real United fan cares about criticism of the team .... we do enough of that ourselves the last 20 years, and much of the 70s and 80s .....
it's the utter drivel ABU nonsense about refs favouring us that irks .... despite Fergie being a bully it's complete bollocks and media driven

and I've grown up calling us United, and City .... I'm sure most people in the country know who we mean when we say city, but I do appreciate Sheff U fans getting upset about the United thing, as they have also grown up with  calling themselves United in their city - Leeds don't have another team in their city

Tough luck on Wales loosing on penalties to Bosnia in the World cup qualifier and to to Northern Island loosing to Italy. Loosing on spot kicks is not a nice way to loose a game. Wales long wait for World cup qualification goes on for another four years.

Can't say that i'm upset in exactly the same way they would be celebrating if England didn't make it, just the wait now for Scootland to Scoot off back home after the 1st round which they won't make it past

Glossop - originally and currently Glossop North End - are 15th in the North West Counties Football League, with a goal difference of -7; and last week they lost 1-3 away to Barnoldswick Town.  So I don't think they'd be very competitive in the Premier League (except perhaps against Spurs).

Had to look it up but we were 14th in the Third division South back then . The sleeping Giant hadn't yet awoken 
Now here's some trivia for all you football anoraks Coventry City are the only team to play in every division of the football league. Premiership, Championship, Division one, Division two, Division three, ( North and South *) and division 4
* they were originally in Div 3 North but were asked to move to Div 3 south due to an uneven balance of teams

About 20 of us crowded into my auntie's front room to watch the game on a 9" b&w TV.
All the young lads present couldn't wait to run to the back jigger with a tennis ball afterwards, pretending to be Stanley Mathews.

Not so long ago Bristol City were sat comfortably in the top six in a play off place but like Stoke city have hit a bad run of form and sliding down the league. I would imagine Mark Robins could be the next one to go

I would hope they have English commentaters on the other big games not involving England. Otherwise we will have to put up the Yanks saying "offence" instead of attack or "end zone" instead of penalty area . Ligue 1 team PSG have had their upcoming game with RC Lens postponed to allow them more time to prepare for their Champions league clash with Liverpool. RC Lens are rightly pissed off with this as they currently sit one point behind them at the top of the league. If a small club like RC Lens were to win the league it would be very much like Leicester City winning the Premier League back in 2015/16 season or even Hearts winning the Scottish Premier league this season. I hope both teams succeed. RC Lens have won the League title once before and have been runners up five times in their history but it would be nice to see them get one over a big money bags club like PSG.

The first recorded football club was Sheffield FC (1857) which is still going now. Pele helped them celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2007, but by the time the first league was formed the game had already turned professional and Sheffield couldn't compete. Much hasn't changed! They did however manage to persuade the FA to introduce an amateur cup which they eventually won in 1904.

I watched the friendly game between the USA and Belgium yesterday on Premier sport and have to admit the American commentator was pretty good. The best part was there was no co commentator ( ex footballer) sat alongside him giving his or her " expert opinion" which made a refreshing change. Half way through the first and second half play stopped for a water break which basically means a " time out" as both coaches come to the sidelines to give the players instructions. This will be a feature of all games during the World cup so better get used to it. VAR was used sensibly. Belgium had a penalty awarded after a shot was deflected by striking an American defenders arm. The ref was advised to go look at the moniter to make the decision. An entertaining game with Belgium winning 5-2. The only thing wrong was that the USA wore predominately white shirts with thin red hoops ( like the American flag) and Belgium wore a very pale blue and pink shirt so from a distance it looked like both teams were wearing white . It was almost impossible to distinguish the two teams apart. It was only because the USA wore dark blue shorts you could tell them apart.

I saw Glossop play at Wembley - no I'm not 140 -  it was 11 years ago; the second of my 2 trips to Wembley

The average league position of Leeds’ remaining opponents is 14th ... Forest’s 9th ... Spurs’ 11th ... and West Ham 11th.

Forest's odds look generous.  It's true that at the moment they're three points ahead of West Ham (effectively four points, since they have a much better goal difference).  Nevertheless, on current form and looking at the fixture list, I think West Ham might survive at Forest’s expense – with Spurs probably just surviving too.
