I recently had to do a John Redwood when reaching the end of a wonderful male voice choir concert taking place over the border in North Wales.

I know the tune to the wonderful Welsh National Anthem and hummed along as best I could, but I was sitting near the front and could feel the eyes of all the choir members watching and mocking my feeble attempt.  :D

Sue Shaw, super hot in her day, was the body double for Susan George in the infamous sex scene in Straw Dogs movie. Alas died a few years back.

Scientists have declared that Botticelli’s Venus may have died after rape caused brain rupture.

Surely there are enough problems in the world today to allow these “scientists “ to spend their time on something useful?

Scientists concerned that global warming could change AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) of which the Gulf stream is part; resulting in much colder winters for us

AMOC is a major part of the system the Earth uses to even out the fact that the Equator collects so much more solar energy than the poles It redistributes vast amounts over 50 times humanities total energy production

Anyway the real point in posting is this in relation to people drowning in water, this was on the local news about a woman drowning and her husband being critically ill after going into the sea at Rossall beach which is just South of Fleetwood and North of Blackpool

This is something that has been on the news for as long as I can remember as they went into the sea to help rescue their fucking dog  :dash:

Oh and as usual the dog managed to get out and is OK  :dash: :dash: :dash:

Dogs are far better swimmers than people yet people still risk and lose their lives trying to rescue them

An update on this story. The man has thankfully recovered. However the story as reported in the press is not accurate. The couple and their dog were apparently all walking out on the beach. The tide came in rapidly behind them and they were cut off on a sandbank. The beach is notorious for this happening.

They tried to walk back through the water channel but got into difficulty. Neither were swimmers and she drowned and he almost did.
They were recovered by Coastguard staff who had been alerted and fortunately were already close by. They also rescued the dog. The latter would also have probably drowned otherwise. The staff were also taken to hospital.

This version of events was reported on Social Media at the time by eye witnesses and has since been confirmed by the surviving male.

However the press seemed to decide their version made a better story?

Interesting, I have indeed seen people rushing to pick up their belongings and wade to shore while crowds of people watch and laugh (hopefully not in this case) I do walk along that stretch albeit to the south and the coastguard do patrol along the prom as the tide is coming in and use the loud hailer to warn people but they have a fair few miles of coast and a lot of people to deal with

Didn’t want to start a new thread and this thread seemed the best one to talk about Perez Hilton's mental breakdown that was live-streamed.  It was pretty random and stupid.

“Appeared to self-harm” is an understatement, he was cutting himself all over his body and face, the video is horrific.

One wonders what drives someone to such extrame behaviour.

" Now thats what I call music" compilation album has now reached 123 in total. The very first one came out in 1983. If you were to take one track from every release you still probably wouldn't have enough tracks to make one decent album  :D :music:

I had the first 10 albums and there were some banging 80’s/early 90’s tunes on them.

John Peel, the late BBC D-Jay was an avid collector of phone cards, if I recall correctly, there was also a picture book containing a selection of them published. My personal favourite, see near the Edgware Road in the 70’s was Sugar Kane Gives Banjo Lessons. In later years the dominatrix Diana used to have cards around Marylebone with a signature red ballon on them, decades before Banksy picked up on it. There was of course no suggestion that JP actually indulged in the hobby, he just liked the cards.

Many moons ago a church in west London placed a large board on its perimeter railings béaring the entreaty

TIRED OF SIN ?   -  éNTER IN.

Beneath it some wit had scrawled

If not, ring Gerrard 3479

Remember that as a schoolboy.. Must admit, seeméd funnier to me then than it does now.

Two of my builders are fitting some oak fascia's today, I commented on how good they looked and how well they had covered over the fitting screws. One said they were as good as you'd expect from a French Polisher.

I tried to explain about cards in phone boxes.

Drew a blank.

I had to explain the euphemism

The USS Abraham Lincoln has been at sea for a record 250 days without a port stop and by all accounts the crew have been going a bit stir crazy, the good news is that they have now docked and the even better news is that they've docked near Pattaya Thailand   :yahoo:  :D

Now 5000 horny matelot's with 9 months of unspent pay and Thailand's biggest sex resort with a reported 25K-50K of sex workers and raucous GoGo bars, I mean what could possibly go wrong

The bad news is that some things are off limits like the cannabis shops; water sports such as jet skis and also Soi-6 a street which runs down to the beach and from where most of the sex workers appear to be located  :scare:

Hmmm so i'm thinking where there's a will there's a way and they don't nickname it Whore leave for no reason do they  ;)
There are 2 designated hotels the sailors can stay at if they want to spend a night onshore so i'm thinking there will be a steady stream of girls making the Trek there for outcalls, i'm also thinking that the Thai police won't exactly be enforcing the laws strictly regarding prostitution which is illegal anyway but let's face it they will all be taking kick backs anyway

Love these quotes from the Mayor of Pattaya -

"We have to be frank, the city has a reputation for bar girls. We understand the stereotypes. We can't stop that.

"What we can do is to show that Pattaya has changed, that we now have other things, such as sports, seminars, wellness and family-friendly activities. It's a mixture of everything."

Oh yeah right because i'm sure the majority of them will be heading for the 1st seminar they can find  :sarcastic:

I have been in Pattaya many years ago when a couple of US Navy warships have been in port. Have to say I found American service men to be friendly enough especially when they know you are a Brit. I once went to a large outdoor bar where they had Thai kick boxing shows. Always remember an American service man fancying his chances against a much smaller Thai kick boxer. The Yank had the shit kicked out of him
