Four aircrew had a very lucky escape when their jets collided at the Idaho airshow yesterday, the two US navy growler aircraft appeared to lock together when performing aerobatics, all four crewmen ejected safely before both jets plunged to the ground exploding in a ball of flames. Thank God for Martin Baker ejection seats.

Yes seemed they didnt know where each other was, lives saved and a few tens of millions of scrap metal!

Red 'arrers wounldnt have let that happen;)

Swatch have just released a new line in cooperation with Audemars Piquet, being a homage to their Royal Oak model line. Swatch shops were mobbed at the weekend with young lads trying to get their hands on on. No need to queue though, there is one on eBay, a snip at £10k with free delivery, just a slight mark up of £9,650 over list price.

You can remove the watch from the pendant and get a wrist bracelet that it snaps into, makes it a bit more practical, still have to remember to wind it up though.

Confucius also say a stopped watch will still show the correct time twice a day  :D

I wonder who shagged the most women out of those two. My money would be on James Hunt but I bet it would be close.
Always remember James Hunt doing the co commentary with Murray Walker when the BBC covered F1 racing. The two as different as chalk and cheese but they worked well together. Apart from Superbike racing Barry Sheene is still Britains last World champion in motorbike/ moto gp racing, a sport since dominated by American, Italian and Spanish riders.

Barry Sheene was famous for having a hole bored in the front of his helmet (no, not that helmet) so he could have a fag on the grid while waiting for the start.

I saw a WG this week with huge scarring from a not well done reductions, she'd tried to mitigate against this by covering with tattoos.

Don't see any point starting a new thread and this one is as good as any to add it to but lots of recent reports in the last week when we had our summer about people drowning from cold water shock or generally getting into trouble when swimming

I'm guessing this isn't a new thing but there do seem to be more reports about deaths, just wonder if the numbers have gone up or whether it's just reported more.
Regarding the cold water shock I remember as a kid at primary school having to go swimming in the school swimming pool which was outdoors and obviously back in those days not heated (bless kids of today as no doubt it would affect their mental wellbeing)
Can't remember what time of year we had to start going in it but it was fucking freezing  :scare: Don't remember anyone getting cold water shock though
On a similar vein i've always avoided getting straight out of a sauna / steam room and jumping into the cold plunge pool at about 2 degrees as i've always said that IMO it can't be good for you and surely opens you up to having a heart attack etc but the guys in the sauna maintain that it's good for you

Anyway the real point in posting is this in relation to people drowning in water, this was on the local news about a woman drowning and her husband being critically ill after going into the sea at Rossall beach which is just South of Fleetwood and North of Blackpool

This is something that has been on the news for as long as I can remember as they went into the sea to help rescue their fucking dog  :dash:

Oh and as usual the dog managed to get out and is OK  :dash: :dash: :dash:

Dogs are far better swimmers than people yet people still risk and lose their lives trying to rescue them

You'd think they'd be some advert, publicity, on the telly re swimming in cold water but don't quite a few do this cold water or wild swimming and seem to survive?..

When you do something in a planned, prepared and organised manner, knowing that you will be entering ice cold water, you are ready for the shock, e.g. ice plunges.

When people aren't expecting it, the unexpected cold water can bring on shock.

I know it is wrong, and I know I am an idiot, but if my dog falls into the river and seems to be struggling, I'm 100% going in after him.

Yeah, there has been about a dozen people who have drowned so far this year in open water swimming incidents so far. I don't think people realise it's not just the sea that has strong underlying currents .

Same for me, In fact I would go into the river to save any animal or child whether or not it is mine.
Animals and Children are the most innocent beings and I would like to think everyone would do the same.  :hi:

As in natural selection or members of a species who don't make good decisions then don't get to pass their genes on to another generation.

Knowing something is dangerous and that it could easily kill you but then doing it anyway  :hi:

I'm not quite sure that that Darwins theory applies in these circumstances.

Driving a car every day is a risk, so is crossing the road if you're a pedestrian, either could easily kill you. More pedestrians die being hit by a motor vehicle than drown, but people still walk around where there are motor vehicles travelling nearby, with enough speed that if they got hit, it would be fatal.

But, you way up the risk / reward / benefit and do it.

Most humans are selfish, even seemingly selfless acts are still selfish -

For instance - saving a partner is not selfless but saving a stranger is considered selfless if you don't care about being shown appreciation afterwards.

Saving your own dog is not selfless but saving somebody else's dog can be selfless if you do not chase any award for doing so.

Basically it is selfless acts if you do it at the goodness of your own heart with no thoughts for oneself or any negative circumstances you may face.

There are only a few humans like this in the world.

I've had a few dogs over time all have been very fond of water and all were excellelent swimmers. One of them she went way out to sea might have got caught in a Rip Tide or current had us a bit worried but came back to shore.

Anyone here ever had a dog drown at all?..
