There are plenty of signs of deflationary money in the system if you look in the right place, e.g. the bond market and yield curve inversions. Evidence mounting of banks hedging risk and generating a credit crunch. These things have been telling us for months the economy is much weaker than anyone realises.

Wrong!  Most are driven by money, by hook or by crook, much like most people irrespective of gender identity driven by need (and greed) in a money-driven society.  You need to rework your assessment of SPs.  Plenty of them have plans and goals serviced by their servicing, that some may (over-)indulge in luxury excess along the way is perhaps understandable given the shit they have to put up with from punters.

Any up (or down) tick in a time series of complex data can have many transient and persistent influences.  We currently have a lot of transient noise messing with the read for a longer term trend but the policy and infrastructure decisions being enacted or neglected aren't particularly encouraging.

Yeah - there's often a double movement with these kind of things.

Some women not suited to sex work are going feel forced to enter the trade out of desperation.

But unless an economic squeeze is so extreme it makes a country a total basketcase (as normally only happens in the developing world) - then the desperate new WGs can be outnumbered by lasses leaving or not entering the industry due to lack of Punters spending cash.

It's like in the J Lo movie Hustlers. After the 2008 Lehman crash, there were much less rich guys spending cash on sex work, so the lasses left the strip clubs & moved on to different types of hustle.   Or to give a real life example, I used to go to the same town every year in Spain as we had a mate living their with a villa. Normally, there would always be 2-8 outdoor WGs on the roundabouts in the town centre. But when we visited in 2012, there were none. According to the guy who lived there, it was nothing to do with enforcement, but all about punters not having cash to spend thanks to the 2012 Spanish recession.   The same clubs (Spanish name for brothels) were still open, just with less WGs & punters.

That said, I've not noticed any reduction in the supply of WGs here in London, so I'd guess it's region dependent.
