Aberdeen is riddled with deposit scams right now

I don't think it’s ever been this bad before in all the years I've punted.  That’s two tonight alone I spoke to that turned out to be deposit scams.  Both from Vivastreet.  One came right out with it after the first reply, the second strung me a long a while, agreed a booking, then hit me with it.

Is there any point in reviewing them?  Recording it somewhere in a thread?

Yes it is concerning, noticed quite a few suspect profiles recently, seems obvious when there are 100+ adverts on viva but only ever about 10 escorts with green light on in AW.

From reading comments on here over the years VS is quite synonymous with Bait & switches. A site I have never used to book, but it does seem relatively popular in Aberdeen.

Even then, I don't really know what the success to failure hit rate is...

That's exactly what happened to me the other night - got strung along convincingly, given an address and even hotel room, then had her demand a bank transfer of the fee before she'd see me.

Really really sneaky IMO - she was counting on the little head being in full control by that point, and I guess she probably does get a few who are caught like that.  I can only imagine how mortifying it would be if someone actually did knock on the door of room 63 after paying the money.

I take it that we're just the lucky ones to be first in the alphabetical list. Lazy scammers just choosing the first location they come across. Same goes for all the 'parked' profiles.

Yep, 'hunners' of them at the moment and nearly all Vivastreet.

Whilst I'd never pay upfront regardless, the recent ones wait until you're already en route or parked nearby so that the 'little brain' is starting to lead. I imagine some people are being caught out by this, only last month one told me in a text message what colour shirt I was wearing and confirmed it was me, to only then send me two messages by SMS. One with their bank details and immediately followed by, 'Ok send deposit bby to my bank, just £25 for my safety. XX'.

IMHO there's little point in sharing the 'fake' names of the workers because they will change, you can usually spot the style of the writing anyway over multiple profiles and always too good to be true. Like she's eighteen with a great body and does OWO, French Kissing or other less common services at a tenner below the typical rate - if it's too good to be true stick your dick back in your pants. However, the pictures are recycled often so sharing those could be helpful, as is raising awareness.

It’s sad really as Aberdeen used to be a No.1 SW territory years back, rivalling even Glasgow of those days. There was a large enough area which was no problem for locals, most of it being industrial. You could pick and choose to avoid obvious druggies. A very memorable one happened in the back of a van. Blankets, room to stretch out, absolutely no rush or clock-watching. The police didn’t bother too much and neither did anyone else until the council got all prissy.

The scene is now dominated by the “luxury” of well-heated incalls and advertisements at many times the original price for a basic service. But the number of scammers has remained the same or even increased.

As with anti-abortion laws, attempts to stop p4p rarely reduce overall incidence: they just change the face of it. (And quite often, the degree of genuine criminality.)

These scams are typically commercial operations running from call centres in east Asia. Vietnam, Cambodia, Phillipines are favorites.
Call  centre staff are usually newly graduated English-speaking Chinese who are trafficked with false promises of tech jobs. In reality their documents are confiscated and they're forced to work under slave conditions.

If you contact one again, try to get an  address of the call centre. There must be someone it can be reported to

PS - be wary of the pix they send you, there are reports of embedded trojans

I had a few of these through Instagram and WhatsApp lately, played along for a while, two asked for cash while one was a bit more sophisticated telling me how to invest in shares and screenshot once I'd registered on a app.
