Fallon Sherrock, but she's flattered to deceive since that tournament. I don't think she's even won the Women's World Championship.

Dont think she ranks in the top 100

She never won an F1 race, women to be technical literally lack the bollocks to good at motorsports with the odd notable exception.

I’m happy to be corrected on this as I’m no expert on motor racing and ‘I believe’ as I was quoting from the Web.

Wikipedia quotes Guinness Book of Records…

Quote
She became the only woman to win a Formula One race of any kind when she won at Brands Hatch in the short-lived British Aurora F1 Championship in 1980

As to your more general comment about women, it’s also my experience that only a few rare ones are capable of sustained mental focus on single thing.

Again generally, hasn’t there been some high performing mountaineers? Maybe not firsts, but some damn good ones. A sport that combines many different faculties.

I’m watching the final and I just realised that the mens football team isn’t any better.  The only reason I’ve even followed it is because there is no mens football on at the moment barring the friendlies. That being said, the championship has started.

I have no issue with the woman's game,  I just can’t start the grandstanding by celebrities every time any England team does remotely well.

I think you're understating the gulf that exists.
Serena Williams (possibly the best ever woman player and the closest to being physically equipped to play against elite men's players) was challenged to a match by the guy ranked 700 or something.
He won easily.
I think you could up that 500 to 5000.

From wiki ….

1998: Karsten Braasch vs. the Williams sisters

Another event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple of bottles of ice cold lager".

The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park, after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two shandies. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2. Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance". He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun" and that the big difference was that men can chase down shots much more easily and put spin on the ball that female players could not handle. The Williams sisters adjusted their claim to beating men outside the top 350.

Tennis
Golf
Darts
Badminton

Nope to all of the above. Tennis has been covered, Badminton would be same.  Darts is completely open yet no women have been competitive.

As for Golf. There’s a few cases of women competing in events, by invitation, on PGA tour e.g Annika Sorenstam, Michelle Wie and others.  They have always missed the cut. Suzy Whaley missed the cut despite being allowed to play off ladies tees.

Showjumping, Eventing, Dressage are the only ones I could think of.  But then again the athlete is the horse in equestrian sports.

Ultra-endurance events the gap between men and women narrows to the point of the top women being competitive.

Horse racing but again it's the horse that's the deciding factor.  Don't forget a woman jockey has won the Grand National competing against male jockeys

can you back that up with a link or are you overstating the facts ?

Braasch beat them both whilst ranked 203 when Serena was only 16 so hardly a big deal, who beat them both that was ranked 700th?

Serena and Venus were pretty good at 16 and Braasch walloped them whilst having a fag between games.
As others have said my 500th ranked male player is probably generous.

Simply a series that used F1 cars.

Punting analogy, fucking brilliant to see Ze Germans looking like bored Romanian hookers after the final whistle.

First time they have lost a final and it was England  :yahoo:.

Wonderful, awesome, amazing and inspiring. I hope that this is the catalyst for many young girls around the country to get involved in grassroots football having witnessed that inspiring performance tonight. The England team showed resilience and tenacity tonight, especially during the 2nd half, when Germany started to dominate. The scenes at the end were a joy to watch. I remember the celebrations in my parents house in 1966 (I was 18 months at the time). But I do remember it. I didn’t think that it would be another 55 years before I would see them again.

I only hope that some of the bad things from the men's game do not spill over.

In both the semi and the final I did see some simulation from the top team in Europe and also some very cynical challenges.
The referee was hopeless tonight and throughout the tournament physical contact was allowed she got most of the big decisions wrong.
The early bookings of two of the English players was ridiculous when the German girls were so cynical and clinical in the fouling.

The English girls had to give as much as they got and Jill Scott showed her frustration later on.

Once again well done girls you have done us proud.

Christ do i rremember the 1966 game! Was on holliday in Torquay and was getting very friendly with this German girl .. untill we won the match, she didnt want to see me anymore after that so result of sorts;!

Dint  those German players look pissed off, well worsre than a Rom whose been diddled outa her fee!, tho two of them were in a more friendly interview later. one got hold of the trophy and looked as if she wanted to run off with it!

Still its only a game eh'?..

Yep, the celebrations were brilliant, would not get that from the overpaid twats, not that we will ever see it  :D

Piled the pressure on Southgate now, the 66 winners were in a very different position than the overpaid today, they played with some pride, the team hotel was out WGC way and my friend ran the bar/catering, deceased now, but she had some stories to tell. Todays twats would be all over the papers, for the wrong reasons, you just know it.

Ultra-endurance events the gap between men and women narrows to the point of the top women being competitive.

Only in a very weak male field. There are 510 men who have beaten the women's world record in the marathon in the last 12 months alone. And there are many other men out there capable of running that time but are focused on other events.

Offline jeanphillipe

Well done England womens, I didnt watch but ofcourse I will back England. I only realised there was a final with all the heavy advertising.

To those that watched it has women football improved i assume ? Or is still pass the parcel..

Liverpool winning the Community Shield and thrashing City,
A nice little successful trixie bet,
And I'm still buzzing watching our wonderful ladies.

I feel I should celebrate and use my winnings on a nice little Thai massage tomorrow.
Isn't life grand? :drinks:

I'm no expert, but it was a good game, enjoyable to watch, adn you can't help but be happy for them.
Done England proud and even put a smile on the Queen's mug (and not the porcelain one).
So... bless their little cotton fanny pads!!

Ultra-endurance are things which normally are lot longer than a marathon.

The German girls were obviously disappointed but at least they were sporting enough to accept and wear their runners up medals after having been given them. The English boys, spoiled brats as many of them are, were taking them off even as they were being put on in the recent men's Euros.

Marathon is not ultra-endurance. There’s a 10% difference between men and women in marathon, this narrows to 4% for ultra-marathon (50-100 miles).

Women start to outperform men at running distances approaching 200 miles.   Pretty niche I know.
