Maybe you just got lucky hungrypunt. Perhaps there is a smattering of real ones padded out with fakes. Anyway I would have signed up for the 3 day membership to test it out, but never got the emails. I also worried as there is no way to contact anyone at the site, that cancelling the auto renew might prove difficult.

Gotta say though TT, yea it was a pain, but 8 days worth of shite and 1 meet plus another due for in effect free, TBF I wasnt aresed about the 70 odd quid for 3 months but as there was a cooling off period, and it is full of fakes, i thought Id use it.

There are not many genuine in the NE. Genuine = a profile with obviously individual text. Most have a blank profile and some have a profile that looks too good. The genuine ones want older single men. There are very few under 30.

In terms of the money, if you preload revolut, can they take more money than you've got?

As dating sites cost the same amount no matter where you live, they're definitely better value in the cities.

More fakes, higher prices but more genuine.

No idea what's happening to the women in the region. I'm blaming Geordie Shore and Angels of the North for putting them off having a good time.

You do get bots on there with is annoying, but you should find genuine SBs on there. Make sure you check the verification videos if they have them, as they can look totally different than their profile pics.  Good luck.

Completely agree.

They refunded me my purchase when I took them to task over the fraudulent nature of it. There was a local lass on there who is also an OF girl pushing her OF through instagram and she's a friend of a friend on faceache so I found her being offered to me as someone I might know blah blah blah.

Anyway - cut to the story. I've blown several 100 credits on SB and not a single reply and I'm nailed on thinking its a scam - even replying to girls that message me first and send me the private photos unlocked email etc.

So this local lass - she apparently messages me me on SB and unlocks her private photos - I think, wtf not, so I reply... silence. She is showing as online - regularly but not even the courtesy of a reply yet she has messaged me and invited me to view her private photos.

Now I know who she is.

So after mulling it over for a couple of days, I connect in Insta and send her a message asking her whether she replies to her SB messages.

She replies on Insta! She reveals she set up a SB profile about 18 months previous and had NOT LOGGED IN SINCE THE FEW DAYS AFTER CREATING THE PROFILE!

I send her screenshots of the message exchange and screenshots of her showing online.

She point blank denies logging on in the last 18 months or so.

So I contact customer support by email - explaining how I have reason to believe and evidence to support the belief that it is a scam and that unless they send me a full refund for purchases I will be taking it to the small claims court.

They reply very swiftly insisting it isnt a scam - some cut & paste suite of reasons why girls dont reply but tell me that they have reversed the charges to my cards and have given me 100 free credits in the hope I will 'give them another chance'.

The refunds came after about 10 days - but not before I got a couple of messages back from girls on the platform all of a sudden - and after a courtesy email just prior to the refund asking me how I was getting on now!

Scam. Nailed on scam.

Near enough identical to my experience. Recently messaged on SB by a girl I'd already met via SA. I messaged her on WhatsApp and she said she hadn't been on SB in months.

There are, of course, many issues with these hook-up sites:

- Fake profiles, or old profiles that are made to appear active by sending out automatic messages.
- Genuine profiles but scammers behind them, i.e. there is someone actively using the site, but they're after taking your money whilst giving you nothing in return (not even meeting) and might not even be the person behind the profile.

I did have some luck on SB, a lot on WYP, and haven't been a paid member on SA since my first month. With WYP, there are no fake profiles as such, because they have to actively bid with you, and the site doesn't do that automatically. You can find that after opening the conversation you don't agree terms with them, but consider that almost a saving as then you don't pay them the agreed amount. Many of them will meet you for that amount, albeit meeting a 25-year old girl for drinks and giving her £50 only for her to block me the next day (albeit I probably wouldn't have bothered continuing anyway) is a bit of a waste. Perhaps I should have been more particular though about who I was meeting but I was quite excited about her yellow doc-marten boots in her photo. (She didn't wear them when we met though, she wore trainers, not the most flattering ones. Had a lot of tattoos).

I may well have found a good one on there - close to my age but only wants payment for the first meet-up and after that, happy to meet up with me just paying for the date. No guarantee of sex but I guess if we really get on, it's something we'd do without any payment.

are you suggesting that some members haven't put their honest experience of the site? Because that is what you are inferring. If so, man up and name those you think should be ashamed because they are being untruthful on here.

I haven't read back through the thread but i don't remember anyone saying SB was wonderful without any downside. Without evidence that some members are being less than honest that is a dis-respectful comment to make.

I cannot comment on SB as i have never used it!

this site is a mine on information for all sorts of activities, and different opinions. Why you have to talk crap like this is beyond me.

I dont see anyone defending it, just personal experiences.
there could be an argument to say "your girl" didnt want you or anyone to know she had been on secret benefits, and didnt want to see you again cos she thinks your a twat

a lot on WYP

One thing I noticed is that you seem to think that the amount offered is some sort of contract?

In my view having tried WYP is that it clearly is not - because while there is a quantity of cash dangled, its not clear what you are bidding on and there is no convo at that point.   If they were sensible  (and I'm talking 30 quid) then I'd meet for coffee or a meal and we'd discuss properly.  But some wanted £100 just to meet and I had to point out that I'd expect anal sex for that.  I wouldn't really, because I don't care for anal, but it was really just to point out that they can't say 'its for a date' when there is no agreed definition of 'date' and I don't see why their expectation should be more valid than mine.

Really the number is just shredding your credits.  That's all it is.

The smartest lady I met had it figured out and would accept £10 since it means nothing in practice and meant that she got to negotiate with more guys.
She's on AW now anyway.

Or her own but when she was 25 years younger. I may have photos of myself from 1997 - I certainly do from around 2000 - and obviously I could post such photos on a dating site and it really would be me, but it wouldn't be me now.

I’m in the school of thought that says SB is a waste of time and money. I’ve been successful in two separate months on Seeking so I know neither my profile nor my approach is seriously deficient.  I was attracted by the SB charging model, but there are too many question marks over the site in my view. Definitely many fake profiles and I suspect women are encouraged to open conversations for free as I wasted quite a few credits opening one or two word “Hiya” messages.  Once you do get traction there seem to be a number of women who don’t know the basic rules. I mean who really goes to these sites to pay for platonic friendship???  I offer as my reason for abandoning it the following WA chat, that I wasted my last credit to respond to on the site.

We’ll done if you’re really doing well on the site. You’re a better man than I!!!

i guess one of those was her name on the site and the other the name she told him to address her by, possibly her real name.

This is a private conversation, at least for her, so you shouldn't be sharing it on here, in particular as I can't see that she's trying to scam you in any way, so you don't need to warn us about her.

The other big difference is message content. Whilst I am “Seeking” trained and therefore careful what I say, I have not even had a sniff of trouble even though some conversations have gone far beyond what I would have written on “Seeking”.

After becoming increasingly disillusioned with the lack of choice and level of service available in my area on AW and local agencies I have been perusing the talent on ‘Secret Benefits’ over the past few days. I’ve made a profile, no photos as I have to be discreet, and favourited a number of ladies I like the look of. Following your advice I’ve sorted the wheat from the chaff and now have around 6 ladies that have viewed my profile and sent me a message.

As I’m an absolute newbie to sites like this and I’d like to ask what sort of message content you refer to in your post that is likely to get you banned? I note that you state that “Secret Benefits” seems to be a little more forgiving than “Seeking” but could you elaborate at all on specific things that you would avoid discussing?…

My only guess would be the discussing of payment, but on the other hand, isn’t that what this site is for? Again, completely new to these sort of sites. AW is much more transactional in term of correspondence. But then again, so is the service at times. Hence the change of tact…

Really helpful post though. Thanks for taking the time to put that together and share it with everyone.

Cheers.

Seeking will not let you update your profile with "dodgy" phrases whereas Secret Benefits just deletes them and keeps the rest. Seeking is very touchy on anything mentions money or sex in private messages too. Also avoid use of word girl.

But Seeking won't ban you until they have your subscription.

I only know because I already had a SB account (which I think is crap and a waste of money btw) then signed up to Sugardaddy.co.uk. The site looks identical to SB and not long after I received this email:

Hi there,

I noticed that you have created multiple accounts on our Network.

SugarDaddy.co.uk has recently grown our system in an effort to create a much better experience for our members. We now share a system with Secret Benefits to offer our members a much larger pool of members to engage with.

I see that you already have an account with Secret Benefits, which is great! As we only allow one profile per member, you can continue to use our network by logging into your Secret Benefits account here

My SB account won't let me log onto sugardaddy but I do get to see blurred photos for free. The photos although blurred look different in some cases. it gives an age range that they're looking for which looks useful if you can match them.

Also sugardaddy draws the line at 21 so no students.

For the short period of time that I had a SB and SD account I looked at both sites and searched my area, the profiles that came up were identical and in the same order. As they said in my email you can’t have 2 accounts but don’t think it matters as they’re effectively the same site

Then again my age search is higher than 21 so don’t know if that made a difference
