DEAR DOLLY: ‘IS SLOW AND STEADY RIGHT, OR DO I HOLD OUT FOR HEAD-OVER-HEELS?’
I went through a difficult break-up last year and have recently started seeing someone new. The previous relationship was intoxicating — especially at the start. I had an immediate connection or perhaps infatuation with my ex, but I also felt insecure and uncertain sometimes. With my current partner all this has flipped. He makes me feel secure, safe and confident in our relationship. He is a wonderful person and we have so much in common. But my feelings are not as intense, they evolve and grow as our relationship does. It feels slow and steady, but this makes me question if it’s right. Do you think falling for someone can feel like this too? Or should we hold out for those rare head-over-heels connections?
