Given the very deep level of hatred of Trump, and the fact that no stone has been left unturned to try and fuck him up, if any of this was remotely true, the FBI and everyone else in law enforcement would have been all over this some years ago.

They are, it's a matter of time. I'm amazed that people think a bunch of paedo muzzy cab drivers and some corrupt police and politicians can cover up grooming - but the most powerful man in the world and his friends can't. Epstein got caught, Andrew is all but caught (unless you're a blindly stupid royalist) Trump and Epstein have a long established connection that nobody denied UNTIL Epstein got caught.

I love reading stuff like this. 'Right wing greed'. Let's get all the euphemisms for 'I don't agree with you and you are a cunt' together, and just fling them out in any old order.

I don't think they ever did bother. I don't trust one single word anyone in the broadcast media says about Trump.

Their hatred of him and the bile they express to and about him, shows that they've lost the ability to think straight.

I believe it's technically known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

And who is deranged?  No doubt in your usual unbiased fashion you will now suggest his upside-down bible show yesterday was the mark of a great president.

I understand there were many in the vicinity who were moved to tears when The Donald held up The Bible.
So inspiring!

That is why the courts must, when they hand out decisions against the people trying to make trouble for Him, they should also have to pay for the court costs and possibly a hefty fine for any distress that they have laid upon Him.

The man can only be expected to bear so much.
Plus personal damages to the President, for emotional turmoil and valuable time wasted.

Not so much anti Trump bias, but the Wiki page of Andrew Marr is interesting.

External Link/Members Only

Couple of interesting bits:

Regarding his political affiliations, he was formerly a Maoist and a member of the Socialist Campaign for a Labour Victory, an offshoot of the International-Communist League, now known as the Alliance for Workers' Liberty. At Cambridge, Marr says he was a "raving leftie" who handed out copies of Mao's Little Red Book and he acquired the nickname Red Andy

At an October 2006, BBC seminar discussing impartiality, Marr highlighted alleged bias within the BBC. He stated: "The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities, and gay people. It has a liberal bias, not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias

Mr Marr has been a big boy at the BBC for some time now.

Worth noting that the stuff there about Marr being a Maoist and raving Leftie was while he was at Cambridge. It's quite possible of course that during that period he was signed up by the then KGB and subsequently 'planted' himself in the nation's largest Broadcaster. But perhaps more likely it's simply that he was a young idealist like so many are, and later grew out of it. A little like yourself Mr. Nuts, from stuff you have said here before? That's not a dig by the way, being a young idealist and then realising the cold realities of life as you get older is entirely normal of course.

His quoted comment: It's [the BBC] a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities, and gay people. It has a liberal bias, not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias is self-evident, and something which I have personally observed many times here. To be honest it's the nature of the beast, and when I say that I mean the beast of Broadcasting itself, the very same traits are in other broadcasters too, regardless of whether they're funded by licence-fee or advertising - just like teaching and some other professions (or perhaps, vocations?) they will tend to attract certain types of people.

Young, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed people who want to be heard and make a difference, will be going in at the bottom rung. Of course their management will be older, senior management older still, and some of that will have rubbed off, but they'll retain a large degree of that idealism. The liberal bias thing is real, when that spills out uncontrollably which it does from time to time, it needs to be admitted and apologised for, which I think explains the Maitlis business. Naga Munchetty too, and I was surprised that she wasn't admonished for calling Trump a racist, or at least saying he spoke like one (something like that). I suspect when the dyed-in-the-wool luvvie that is Tony Hall has gone (very soon) then the correct balance will again be achieved.

In the BBC Written Archives there is a quotation from Hugh Greene, a former DG of the BBC.

"There are some respects in which [the BBC] is not neutral, unbiased or impartial. That is, where there are clashes for and against the basic moral values – truthfulness, justice, freedom, compassion, tolerance. Nor do I believe that we should be impartial about certain things like racialism or extreme forms of political belief."

Then he was wrong. It's not the job of the BBC to take anything other than the most basic moral stand on news reporting, same as with other elements of its output.

Hugh Greene was Director General of the BBC from 1960 until 1969, so his perception of what the BBC should do is perhaps not strictly relevant to the current debate. I have to say though, looking at that direct quote I can't see any other DG disagreeing with it, nor any News Head at any other UK broadcaster for that matter.

But it is a good point, where does the BBC draw that line?

I would say there are occasions when it correctly 'gets off the fence', when there are clear and glaring breaches of basic morals or human rights. It doesn't have to get 'preachy' about it but it's quite right that it takes a standpoint on such things.

The only issue of those mentioned above that I would say is particularly tricky, is the 'extreme politics' one. Who is the arbiter of what is extreme politics? I would say, any politics that breaches or fails to uphold any/all the others.

Pure neutrality implies an equivalence of truth and lies, truth tellers and liars, and that is a false equivalence. It is itself a lie.

Hmmm. In reality, the job of the BBC in its news reporting is to present the facts as it sees them. Of course, it's always going to ignore facts it deems unimportant or irrelevant, but thankfully we have a variety of news outlets to choose from.

End of the day, I have learned that journalists rarely go around ferreting out stories. Some do, but most of them don't. So they're always at the mercy, in order to fill their bulletins and news pages, of the PR and lobbying machine. As well as their own groupthink.

As some berk once said, real news is something that someone doesn't want you to know about. All the rest is just gossip.

“News is something somebody doesn't want printed; all else is advertising.”

The author of this is disputed. Probably William Randolph Hearst, although often misattributed to George Orwell.

I think it was Denis Healey who visited Mao close to the end of the dictator's life. Healey waited for Mao to pronounce on world affairs, or political philosophy. Mao said nothing, staring into the middle distance. Finally he gestured for Healey to come close.

"I'm having trouble with my legs."

Healey wouldn't have had that problem with Langford of course, although I suspect at that time she may still have been on Junior Showtime  :scare:  :D

Its understandable that the BBC are idealist comprising university graduates on good salaries sat round a table discussing knife crime and how to help the underclasses . But they have the luxury of not actually living in the areas worst off for deprivation , crime and violence and have little chance of ever meeting a youth with a knife so they can quite happily talk all about how great multiculturism and refugees and immigration are, but ask someone actually living in one of those deprived drug/gang infested areas and they might say ffs dont bring us another boat load of the worlds destitute , thats the last thing we need. Yeh the SJW argument is its a land of opportunity and the kid from the ghetto can do well at school but if the boatloads of immigrants never ends then essentially theres a constant stream of destitute and desparate humananity into the ghetto and yes theres simultaneously a constant few who do struggle work and study hard and make it out, but in this way its basically a ghetto in perpetuity and the cycle never ends, of course the BBC in their ivory tower luxury dont give a shit , but why not try something different to help these areas like stop the flow of impoverished problematic people coming into them !! or if we do have to have more refugees house them next door to the BBC people so they get a taste of knife crime for a change.
edit - i forgot my point is where you live has alot to do with your attitude , like cab drivers probably live in rouger areas and mix with allsorts.

You pronounce boldly on 'the type of BBC graduates' entering the BBC yet I suspect you know fuck all about the reality .

I don't particularly either, but if you think they don't have programmes for enabling those from vastly varied backgrounds to join, or that top British Universities don't have initiatives for getting BAME and underpriviliged students studying with them, you'd be very badly wrong.

But then because you're so biased, you wouldn't even have considered it.

Codswallop.

The vast majority of actual production staff who make actual programmes are relatively junior and poorly paid, living in out of the way parts of town where you see plenty. Many, perhaps a majority, are freelance and even worse paid than the staffers. The only highly paid people are senior management, a handful of celeb reporters/presenters, plus a small number of anonymous people who have stuck it out doing support roles for a whole lifetime.

If you think you go into work like that to make money then you have been badly advised.

And if you think highly paid means left-leaning then, oh man where to start.  :dash:
