Author Topic: More BBC anti Trump bias  (Read 4701 times)

Discussing the events in the States on his radio show, that mouthpiece of the liberal elite, Jezzer Vine has just said, 'Events will make it harder and harder for Donald Trump to be re-elected in November.'
Translation =  'I hope he doesn't.'

They aren't even bothering to disguise their bias any more.

Vine might have meant what he said, or is that impossible?
Trumps bad handling of the virus will effect his support.
The rioting and his comments will have pushed away floating voters, do nothing of those who were against or for him.
So I don’t see any bias by Vine saying what he said, it’s just the facts.
I personally still think Trump will win, also don’t want to listen to Vine because he is a prick.

I recall during Barack Obama's time as POTUS there were easily half a dozen high profile deaths of blacks by Police Officers, but the media avoid mentioning this because it doesn't fit their long held anti-Trump campaign.

Vine might have meant what he said , that is possible, but its not fact , its not established what the effect will be on his support , its a personal opinion and probably not a very well informed one at that.
According to Gallop as of may 2020 Trumps approval ratings are the highest they have been since hes been in office

Seems self-evident to me, I don't really see it as bias.

He's talked a lot of confusing and self-contradictory bollocks all the way through this crisis, or perhaps his voter-base will lap it up anyway, who knows?  :unknown:

The DIFFERENCE is that Obama wasn't openly promoting violence and division and didn't stand on a platform of chaos, lack of respect and ill-considered thinking.

That's one poll.  A poll can be drawn up to show anything to serve whatever slant you wish.  A poll is statistics not "truth" or "fact".  It's both art and science that can be controlled to achieve a goal.

I don't think they ever did bother. I don't trust one single word anyone in the broadcast media says about Trump.

Their hatred of him and the bile they express to and about him, shows that they've lost the ability to think straight.

What, even the ones that are undoubtedly true?

Even if they are biased against Trump as you maintain, you must surely recognise a lot, or at least some, of what is said about him in the UK media is true?

Given the very deep level of hatred of Trump, and the fact that no stone has been left unturned to try and fuck him up, if any of this was remotely true, the FBI and everyone else in law enforcement would have been all over this some years ago.

People yabbering about ‘BBC left-wing bias’ are talking straight out of their arseholes.

I worked in broadcasting many years. Taking everyone together and averaging it out the BBC political position is probably slightly right of centre. It's a large corporate, what do you expect. The mindset is suburban, not metropolitan. The reporting/programme production staff tend to be slightly more radical, maybe because of what they see. The management class is markedly more right wing. The hardcore conflict reporters are all weird with various extreme ideas. The kind of people they are. But even they have professional standards.

Some kind of organised campaign against Trump? Paid for by George Soros I suppose? Pathetic conspiracy bullshit. The reality is that people are bending over backwards to treat Trump as if he deserved a measure of respect, which he doesn’t.

I don’t doubt some comments are coloured by the fact that Trump is a uniquely repellent cunt and an utter liar. Journalists seldom warm to liars. You can figure.

Probably means you're biased as a result though

What is 'biased' in this context?

Sure I have a political position, or rather a collection of them depending on the issue, mostly left, I've got more leftwing as I've got older. But it happens that I did a lot of broadcast work together with a producer who in my book was a right wing fruitcake. That did not affect our work. We were always on the same page on the matter of what was fact and what was propaganda.

Everybody is biased, you have to know your biases and test them.

It was meant purely as a joke, and ironically, in the sense that many on these threads are of the opinion that the BBC is insititutionally biased against their own opinions.

But you make a good point, ie that anyone working in journalism will of course have their own opinions, but you put those to one side when you report on a story because it's your job to.

Occasionally a reporter or journalist will feel so strongly that the mask of impartiality slips, they're human after all. But rightly, they will be held to account for that.

Offline RLondon99

the mask of impartiality slips

My mask of impartiality definitely slipped when I had a session with the delightful Woofie in a West London hotel and suddenly realised that I had once attended a production meeting in the very same building and possibly the very same room back when it was a BBC facility!

You are not the only one with experiece of the BBC over many years. You're broadly right about the varying mindsets, but the slant of the actual decision-makers when it comes to news and current affairs as well as drama, is decidedly left-liberal.

No, there's not an organised campaign against Trump. No Soros. No conspiracy theory. Give your opponents at least some credit.
