Hi Guys

What I need to know is if you take condoms and viagra and they check your luggage would that creat any issues in Marrakech?
When you arrive at the airport and you fill the form, if I put the details of the apartment I'm staying, would that creat any issues since it's not a hotel and they might suspect what i'm there for?
With regards to hammam, I appreciate you don't want to name them here, can you give me any clues or ideas so I could find them, new account I can't send PM. Please include prices I should expect. Thanks guys

Mr Bond,

Condoms are readily available from Pharmacies, so it may be best to buy them from there, although I am not aware of any traveller/punter being hauled by the immigration dept for bringing in condoms. Some members prefer to take UK condoms with them, so you cold say that you've taken them IN CASE YOU PULL!!!

Assuming you are only going to be there for a few days, take only enough viagra to last you the time out there. Take them out of their wrapper and mix them with your other pills, so that they are not easily identified, as a precaution. Likewise, I am not aware of any traveller/punter being done fo rthis either. I know of someone who regularly travels to Dubai and hides his tabs inside a rolled up pair of socks.

As for filling the form regarding your accom, go on trip advisor and select a popular 3* or 4* hotel  which has had loads of reviews. Note down the full address and put this on your immigration card.
This is what we did and the immigration guy did not even blink at the form. Worse case scenario is if you are challenged, pretend your booking must have got lost at that 3* hotel, and that you will now have to start from scratch and look for accom upon your arrival.

Offline Wilson85

Both times I've arrived in Morocco I put down a random Marrakech hotel address. I didn't see any bag searches either, just put johnnies and viagra in hold luggage.

Offline toon972

I have had no problem with comdoms or Viagra, either in hold or cabin.  :hi:

Offline nike

Don't do viagra but never had problem with condoms. The ones u get out there seem to be smaller.
Customs don't check if ur booked into a hotel, they just want a Moroccan address, hotel or apartment,  makes no difference.

I have now carried out my threat and loaded up ALL the notes that I had made for my punting trip to Marrakesh. There is fair bit of info in there.

I have deliberately broken it down into numerous sections.

Quote the relevant post, and please expand on my notes/comments, such that your post then becomes THE guide, so that Benny only has to copy and paste your notes into the wiki guide.

It would be great if my comments are expanded/amended in order that they then get uploaded into the guide.

Thanks,
CT

Can someone who's got experience in the following locations give me a paragraph or two for the wiki page please... just post it here or PM me. I'll put it on the wiki for you.

Tangier...
Agadir...
Casablanca...
Fes ??
anywhere else you may have been in Morocco.

If you can include details of the Club scene, hammams, likely costs of accomodation etc, best day time hangouts.
Just stuff relevant to punting. Theres already a link on the wiki to each city for more general stuff. Thanks guys.

Benny, I initially was planning to PM this info to you, but it would have taken a great deal of work on your part in order to expand on my notes and then upload it into the guide. That would have been unfair on you.

Instead, I have now posted all my notes in the wiki thread, broken down into numerous smaller posts.

I have asked members on here to pick up on one post at a time, quote my post and then expand it in full with additional notes/comments/recommendations, such that their post then simply becomes a copy and paste job for you.

I have seen what you have started on the Wiki guide and Kudos to you for getting this rolled out  :hi:

Hopefully with other members' help, we can fianlly have a detailed guide that we can refer queries to.

I accidentally gave my hotel voucher to immigration along with passport and immigration card and the copper actually checked if my hotel voucher matched with details on immigration card. He had a cheeky grin but no problemsas the info matched.

Well done to the guys busy with the wiki thread on Morocco, not something I am good at.

I merely uploaded all the notes that I had previously made.

Thanks to Benny the Ball for the start he has made in uploading info into the wiki guide.

Like you, I am useless at editing the Wiki Guide, but we ALL Regular posters on this thread can contribute to the write-up of this guide.

************************

All the regular posters on here..... WE STILL REQUIRE YOUR HELP!!!!!

Please go through the thread and look at the quick notes that I have made, and select a topic on which you are able to expand my notes. You don't have to reply to all the posts in one go. Pick one topic a day, or per week, or whenever you next log in.

Copy and paste my notes and then expand on the points, or if you want, put it in your own words, and then post it in the same thread.

That way, you have still helped us with the Wiki Guide...

i.e. You have posted a detailed, longer post about that topic, and BtB them merely copies and pastes YOUR revised, expanded notes into the Wiki.

Any queries, please post in the thread.

This is the thread where I have posted all the notes I made:

This shows how a newbie has gone out of his way way to help others on here. Even though he would still be classed as a newbie, he fully deserves getting help in finding WG friendly accom for his trip.

Cheers Nike, you beat me to it. I was in the process of sending him a PM for same.

I am a newbie and probably will be for sometime to come, but that doesn't mean we newbies cant still help out eh!?  :P Im glad I found a way to add something anyway.
I've prebooked an appartment on Air BnB for the last week in January. Its on Rue Badr, which (if you wanna look it up) you'll see is right next to the Plaza. I have no idea if its wg friendly, (so I've convinced myself in advance that it wont be so I wont be disappointed).
So my plan has now evolved to... when I find out that the appartment isnt wg friendly, Im going to try and rent a second cheap place which is open to wgs. As far as I can see that second appartment would offer several other advantages, like not getting my stuff robbed while my backs turned, but obviously comes at a cost. Hey ho.
Thanks both of you for the offers of help. I'll pm you both in a minute.

KH, MOST DEFINITELY not irrelevant.

However, I would suggest re-post the above points into the Wiki thread, that way whoever is weriting up the guide gets to see all th epoints which need expanding.

They aren't irrelevant points but under the Punting Wiki guidelines rule no.4 says - "This is a Wiki for Punters. All
edits and content must respect this ethos".

There is far more general holidaying information about Morocco than I could ever hope to include in the wiki that is already freely available on sites like lonely planet, Trip Advisor and various other travel websites.
I haven't looked at these sites yet but I'm thinking it will be much easier to simply link to their info directly from the wiki rather me trying to re-write a half arsed attempt... what do you guys think?

...that said, we still need the suggestions so that we can make the relevant links, so cheers again KH.

Phew! Just Finished reading 120 pages. Very exciting and some good information so thanks to Nike, Tiger, Toon, King Henry and the rest of the Gang! Will be flying out from London on 16th January-19th Jan to Marrakech. Messaged many apartment owners on Air B & B. almost all of them said no girls allowed, however a few said it is no problem. One guy turned out to be a NeuroSurgeon from Birmingham! No security at his place. no Concierge/reception staff. Exchanged contact details with the guy and apartment booked. Sounds like he is more excited to meet me, than I am to go out punting! Can't wait!
(p.s his Facebook pictures all add up. He is definitely a Dr In Morocco!)

Ramadan

For 2015, Ramadan starts around 8th June and lasts for a month. All clubs, bars, restaurants and cafes shutdown for the duration.  At the end of Ramadan everyone gets a two weeks holiday. Therefore travel to Morocco from the second week in July 2017.

Whist tripadvisor can provide you with good restaurant guides, when I checked on there, there were thousands of restaurants and it was a minefield.

If possible, I would have preferred recommendation of a few restaurants near the strip area in the guide, thereby saving members time in having to look for recommendations on Tripadvisor. In addition, if you stay in an apartment, chances are you will need to go somewhere for breakfast, at least, and possibly with the WG. What better than a few cafes, etc mentioned in the guide?

I see your point CT. But unless you're happy to go to Macdonalds ( :vomit: )and Starbucks the whole time you're there then someone is going to have to name some of the better cafes/restaurants on the strip. Out of our 120 pages, I dont recall many mentions of other places in Gueliz.

These are the Notes I made in preparation before going to Kesh:

Flights
Where from/to
Approx Costs during certain months
Length of flight

Weather

Airport:
Fill out Landing Cards BEFORE landing.

Arrange Transfers in Advance??
Cost of Taxi to centre? Haggle?   Approx Dhs 70 Daytime, Dhs150 at night, haggle.
How Easy?
How Long?

The airport is about 20 min from centre , Gueilz.

Right guys, am not having much success in posting on the other thread, so have now posted in this thread.

I plan to post 1 topic every few days.

Would all those who have previously flown to Marrakesh or Tangier please post your experience for the above:

I flew in August, with Ryanair from stansted, flight just under 4hrs, cost was approx £200 return.
Ryanair also fly from Luton.

Ensure you carry a pen with you, that way you can fill out the Immigration cards whilst you are waiting in the queue.

We were picked up by Nike and Mr A in our hired car, so have no idea what the typical cost of a taxi to the city costs.
For those of you who have caught a taxi, how easy was it, and what was the cost?
Is it worth paying in advance for Airport Transfer (e.g. Ryanair Website), especially if arriving in the early hours??

For those of you who have flown with Easyjet, please post details of which Airports they fly from.

For those of who have flown straight to Tangier, how did you arrange your flights (direct or stopover?).

When enough of us have posted our experience, Benny should have sufficient info to write up the guide for this part.

Thank You CoolTiger and all you Pros on here! This trip is one I am so badly looking forward to! The NeuroSurgeon Buddy from Marrakech could not stop laughing when I told him what my budget was for working girls (I think I told him 800-1500 Dirhams for the night). He advised me to download Tinder, Pay for premium (£1.99/month) and to Swipe Right on every girl I could! The results are beyond what I imagined. Two days later I have an angelic beauty (student) from Marrakech who will be picking me up from airport  :dance girl: (Picture provided) and another who will be travelling all the way from Rabat to meet me  . I hope for your sake that it's genuine that the girl that's actually picking you up from the Airport, and not some pimp/gang picking you up and then completely swindle you off all your money and belongings, before chucking you out of the car outside Cafe Elite  :scare:
