Just to expand a bit on toon, the only thing you can rely on is cash. There are virtually no card transactions. Even getting money out of the two or three cash machines is hit snd miss (mostly miss).

Just an fyi if you’re thinking of going, I believe ramadan is feb/march this year so if things arent already quiet that might just make them so, especially if the imported hookers have vanished

So last night and night before i purposely ventured out to check out the whore houses and street scene. I was being quoted around 2500d (currently £1=99d; i have been just getting money out of ATMs which is giving me 94d and exchange office i am able to get 96).

I paid 350d to tuk tuk guy to take me to Liberia bar plus below:
* There's a drinking place near Fadera Drug Store (C7XW+F8R, Serrekunda) where you can talk to the freelancers directly. Butt ugly. Asked about girl prices but manager said i need to check directly with the girls
* A couple of really rough looking places. Here you can imagine a 100 men in one big bar, courtyard and about 15 women in each of the places. It's Class 1 girls (C8V8+6J3, Serrekunda) and there's one across the street. Again, this place is rough. Locals are probably paying 1000 or is less including girl and accommodation

The tuk tuk driver says it all gets going after midnight after the women have tucked their kids into bed. I went to Liberia bar place around 2am on Friday/Sat night but it was dead-police were in the area checking immigration stats, etc

Matched with a few girls on Tinder. One quoted 4000d.. i laughed at her. Another one, i actually met her randomly at her bar where she is a waitress and she was totally my type. She came over to my apartments and i gave her 1000d.

You are a far far braver man than me to try the scene near kololi where the street girls are. I've ventured in these places just to have a look and it's way too dodgy for me. I've heard some very bad stories about Nigerians and robbers and spiking to even go into the buildings there.

What you said about people trying to hook you up is true though. I had people in almost every restaurant in Senegambia telling me they had single friends although this wasn't escorts just normal women.....

And regarding the nightlife there. As you said it can seem dead.... I'm very surprised your getting quoted prices on tinder though I hooked up with lots of women there and obviously met a lot more and it was so rare they even asked me for a penny.... Almost every meeting I just paid for dinner and job done....

But the information you said is useful.... But again I would totally avoid these areas especially at night. A guy I know was stabbed in the side of his back in kololi doing the exact same thing as you was doing.

But kololi itself is actually known for crime.... Didn't spend much time there myself but sexual violence on women there and men touching women without asking is supposedly very very common due to the men thinking all the women there are prostitutes if there out at night.

I too suffered this in Gambia haha.... Although as soon as they mentioned virgin I made my excuses and left anyway. In fact I then got used to actually asking them upfront and if they said yes I simply wouldn't meet them....

And what this guy said is true.... Many many Gambians are so damn phone obsessed it's unreal. They will take a hundred photos in your apartment a hundred in the restaurants and even in the damn toilet.... It was another one of my warning flags actually as it's so distracting to me trying to speak to someone who's doing that.

Definitely the right course of action. I also very much doubt that a real virgin will be out meeting older white men for dinner. To me it's a clear declaration of intent - no sex.

It's the same in all poorer countries;

Flight prices for month stays are coming up at almost 800 quid with just one bag. Prices I'm getting quoted for decent accommodation is up 25 percent almost. Also at the end of tourist season it can be a bit boring to be honest. Realistically we are talking an extra 700 pounds compared to last year on average I'm being quoted for same flights and same accommodation. Obviously food costs ect will have increased too. I checked the prices for Ghana yesterday and it would probably be a thousand pounds cheaper to spend the same amount of time there.

Not a hard choice then. Do you know from your local contacts if the place is busy with non-British visitors or if it's just dead?

At the moment obviously it will be quiet. When I say Ramadan is quiet.... I mean it's very quiet. I'm sure there will be an increase before the end of April though. But the peak season has basically gone now... It will still be busy but obviously the terrorism stuff is driving some price increases on flights even in what should be a safe country due to cancellations and people looking for alternatives. I think it's actually possible that Gambia might be busier as I've heard some absolute horror story's about Thailand flights right now.... And it's gonna make people look for alternatives.

You should be fine though technically to go at the start of April for example... It won't be dead. Just isn't peak. I've visited all the way up to June but as soon as it hits may..... Many places are half day opening or fully closed.

Also TUI flights from Manchester are for some reason showing at a thousand pounds per person.... I've never seen it anywhere near this high so I would imagine this will put many off.

Absolutely horrible. But not surprising. There has been mass gang attacks before Ramadan in some areas where large groups of kids aged between 12 and 17 have mugged and attacked many people for there items. I believe one of the areas was near brusubi but it happened to a few areas. There was many videos circulating online.

Muggings, burglary and theft are massively on the increase and it's not surprising. There population is increasing massively and unemployment is over 90 percent when you don't take into account street sellers and people that sell fruits in there neighbourhoods when these people make basically zero. My friends daughter applied for a job at king baker for 2500 a month and was told there was over 700 applications....

Also obviously sea deaths are increasing due to desperation to reach Europe....

If you go to Gambia you will notice literally every compound has spikes or glass bottles covering there walls and every window and door has huge metal barriers. There is a reason for this.... The second you leave Senegambia this is a totally different country and sooner or later it's going to be targeted more at tourists...

Some areas literally have 90+ percent in poverty and are eating once every 3 days...

Yes this is full time. I also know a guy that works in a restaurant in kotu. Very popular place mainly known for desserts. He works 38 hours a week and this is 6 days. So obviously not 9 to 5 but still 38 hours and only has Wednesday off. He gets 3000 per month. No transport allowance and no food included. And again when these jobs come up your talking hundreds of applicants.

And yes your right the wages havnt really increased in years. Even the police officers wages are absolutely appalling..again I know a female police officer and she has shown me a picture of her wage slip.... 4400 a month and some of that is including transport allowance and food allowance....

And I can tell you now. Things are not cheap there.... I honestly have no idea how people do it.

I doubt you'd get a direct flight right now. TUI doesn't start til November if I remember correctly. Also it sounds like it's not much fun right now. Senegambia is basically dead and there are regular power cuts.

On the massage front, yeah sure you can ask anyone who's willing to fuck you to massage you instead I'm sure. There are a couple of shops around Senegambia/Kololi but not many plus some beach girls who'll come back to your room. Not sure about the wider city.
