If you don't get any definite steers from members on here ask the concierge in your hotel, a barman or a taxi driver. For the Madrid street scene

Head over to the GranVia and pass the new Primark building then cross to the Mcdonalds. Hit a right into the main street. After a hundred yards or so there should be a sex shop or two on your left. Thats an indicatior that your on the correct street.

Hi sorry just saw your post. Don't know if you've been yet or not. Madrid is not that more expensive than other big Spanish cities like Valencia where I used to live and have punted. Never been up to Barcelona but imagine it's similar. On average 70 euros for 30 mins, 100 for 45 mins and around the 130 Mark for an hour. 
Yes Madrid is a very big city, but the metro system is excellent and cheap; probably the best in Europe. I'm not the best navigator in the world, but managed Madrid no problem. Very easy to  go from north, south, east west. Here is my Madrid review.

Madrid for me is better as a Club City and if you read this forum there is plenty of info. on how the scene works and Club names/addresses . If you really want a "take away " these are some of  the mid range establishments offering to your hotel service . There is also Bar Pygmalion where you can entertain with a Puta before negotiating a deal .
