Author Topic: How to stop adultwork showing the new mobile picture gallery  (Read 3074 times)

Offline droplet

I'm not a fan of the new adultwork look. So I' still sticking to the old classic look.

Unfortunately for some profile when you click on the gallery in the classic look it takes you to the mobile .m format.

Anyway know how to stop this so the galleries are still being displayed in the old classic style?

Ditto..!  I noticed this a while back on random profiles - really annoying and completely unnecessary. Seems to me the devs at AW are clutching at straws to justify their worth.  If it ain’t broke then don’t try fixing it.  I’ve tried a couple of things to see if I can get to the old style classic galleries, but no joy so far.

Same. Pushing me away from using the site

Also you cannot copy pictures to add to UKP reviews either.

Yes, I too have observed this recently. It's frustrating and annoying.

They need to start reading our forum and listen to service seekers feedback. I don't know how many times we need to make it clear on here that we don't like or want any other version than the original desktop one that we've successfully used for many years. It's very straightforward and simple to understand. As @Waterhouse correctly mentioned, If it's not broken, then don't try to fix it.

Unfortunately, I don't believe that there is a workaround for this from our end. So, hopefully they will start taking feedback onboard, go back and just leave it all as it was before.

Also you cannot copy pictures to add to UKP reviews either.

How I work around this. I use my android phone (not sure about IPhone as I don't have one) to save the SP's images and then email them back to myself to attach them to our reviews. I get that AW want to protect SP images for malicious reasons, but at the same time, we are within our legal rights under the fair dealing exception to post SP images for reviewing purposes as long as it's from their public gallery, which does help us members a lot, especially down the line when an SP for example closes their AW profile and we're running a search for that same SP when a new profile emerges later down the line. We can then link the old and new profiles together because a savvy member decided to attach SP images so it's easier for us to identify that SP.

Run this in your console

if (typeof galleryRedirect !== "undefined" && galleryRedirect) {
console.log("gallery redirect to m. site stopped")
    galleryRedirect = false;
}

On my PC/laptop I screenshot and then crop and save as a jpeg.

If you kill your browser and start again it seems to revert to the classic gallery. Does for me on android/chrome anyway

The mobile gallery irritates me too.  I end up giving up on the SP and just click back and not bothering with the pictures.

Is including pictures to reviews recommended?  - I was thinking to go back and add a picture or 2 of the SP to my reviews (to help with my own memory as much as anything)

I've added them to all my recent reviews.

First off it helps me remember the SP.

Second, it helps other punters.

Last but not least, if the profile gets traded on, it can help distinguish the actual SP who the review is about.

Offline Xtro

Also you cannot copy pictures to add to UKP reviews either.

On a desktop -
Click on a picture to get the slideshow/carousel up and running.
Hold down "SHIFT" and right click mouse. This brings up options to open image in new tab, save image, copy image, etc.

Nothing further to add in regards to your question as @PilotMan boxed that off perfectly.

If you want to go back and add photos to previous reviews that would be a query for the @moderating team.

Unless, you want to add them as attachments underneath your review but even then I would ask the question if it's allowed.

I have asked @ILO a few times to edit/add a link that I've seen as important to a few of my reviews (https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=462088.0) on the odd occasion, which he has always been helpful as well as @daviemac.

If it is possible, as mentioned in my original comment, they would certainly at least have to be current public gallery images.

I've added them to all my recent reviews.

You've replied with pretty much the same as I would have done :drinks:

I dislike them shoving their new 'mobile' site on us punters so much I've been looking where to send a complaint to. It's very unpleasant to navigate, I just want to see a WG's gallery and then I have to deal with a whole new, constrictive layout.

Believe me we hate it too but trying to get back to the desktop version is becoming increasingly difficult,  every click sends us back to the new site and its a damn nightmare to navigate.
If they had actually consulted the users regarding design and functionality before they pissed about with it that might have helped, but not in their agenda.
And costs are going up for every feature,  one example is location changes,  used to be free, now a paid feature,  started at 4.99, now costing 9.99, cant use credits for that it has to be a bank card. Now I know it doesn't seem a lot but if you are a touring escort then its a tenner for every change, plus an additional cost to list more than one area, this is the wording on AW........
Location updates cost 9.99 GBP which covers Region, County, Postcode, and one Town. Additional Towns or Rail/Tube Stations cost 2 GBP each.

Get any one of those wrong like a postcode and when you go to correct it you get charged an  additional 9.99

However it is what it is and so we just have to work with it

There is a way around it but it's annoying. If you do a search that includes the profile you want to see, when you have the list of profiles click on the gallery link from outside of the profile (as per pic), it always takes you to the standard gallery view, while clicking from inside the profile seems to have a 50/50 chance of what you get. So you have to exit the profile to view the pics, bit daft but it works.

It seems to be almost inevitable, site owners want to improve their bottom line and end up fucking up the site for everybody.

See also eBay, Autotrader et al.

Just wait until AW gets bought by a hedge fund :scare:

If you go to the bottom of the regular profile page copy their user number (not the username)

In the web address bar go to External Link/Members Only and then paste the user number after the =

As an example this lady was mentioned on another thread:
External Link/Members Only

if you try and look at her gallery it goes here:
External Link/Members Only

But if you do the trick above you can get here:
External Link/Members Only

Hopefully this will be of some use to some of you.

I was thinking the same on the subject of this thread
Will have a read

Not being easily able to copy pictures to my online bank of all things punting
Saving new pics of SPs massage burds already seen [maybe a revisit needed] have these u-t-d
& the same for those on the TD list for example if they are further afield however they tour around waiting for them to come within striking distance

As an aside when the new digital rules came in this saw a massive clearout by some SPs i presume some of them across to PG so i had these stored
Tho its my observation that the no. of gallery pics have mainly reverted to the same as to prior to the rule change

It could be pure coincidence that the work around doesn’t work today as it did yesterday OR the devs of AdultWork are keeping a tab on his forum. To which I say.. have you guys don’t been reading it? We just want how it was before..  :dash: it’s almost like they want us to stop using the site on our mobile devices..

Just discovered that for myself.
Only problem is the redirect to the mobile page is massively distorted the letter "A" in the top corner that says Adultwork fills my entire screen.

I've also noticed it is now pestering me to enable 2FA

AW devs. Sorry that you've spent money on something nobody wanted or needed, but please turn it off. The mobile version of the site is horrible to navigate and look at, we all just want the original website to work on our phones please. If this gets any worse it's going to push more of your 'customers' towards your competitors websites.

Just get a web browser plugin which re-enables the right hand click and set it to work on the various AW websites - both External Link/Members Only and m.adultwork.com
There are several available online from repositorys like the chrome store.
Then you can just right click > save as....

Unfortunately not, it has to be done per page.
It is automatically set if you have AW Civilizer.

I don’t know if this is just my phone or if it’s been covered elsewhere but I simply cannot view private galleries. A week or so ago some would take me to the app and when that happened, it didn’t display pictures. I would click on the free gallery option but nothing came up. Now, it’s all profiles.

I’ve also tried using the app, same thing.

Anyone else having this issue? Or a way around it? I tend to use the classic site. Hate the functionality of the mobile app but thought it might fix it. It hasn’t

I sent an email to there help centre about this and if there was a way to revert back to the classic version when clicking on various tabs. They replied with;

"Please note that the sections within service provider profiles, such as Gallery, Private Gallery, Movies, Interview, and other tabs, have been moved to the new Beta Site. As a result, there is currently no option to view these sections on the Classic Site."

Not a fan of the Beta Site either. I hope they eventually do implement an option to view all areas of the site in Classic mode but it doesn't seem like they will.

That reply makes it sound like they're planning on doing away with the classic site entirely, and this is just the next step in the process. I hope not though, the Beta site is FAR inferior to the classic site, I don't understand why they feel the need to change something that was perfectly OK as it was  :dash:
