Newcastle's revenue has increase from £140.2 million in 2020/21 to £335.3 million in 2024/25 with an increase of 44% in commercial income.

We're heading in the right direction but still have a long way to go.

Rome wasnt built in a day

Utd spent large when PSR SCR not even close to being thought of
Allowed them to build the stadium attract the best players

A real shame that The Glazers came along
& borrowed multi millions leveraging off the Utd balance sheet
They put FA money in & its Utd paying the loan - some of it expensive debt - to err ... them
Genius they cobble together a deal everyone misses the dynamic & they make loads
The Glazers must have been thinking that Utd will see through this but they didn't
It couldn't happen to a nicer TONM
Without the Glazer involvement Utd really could have blasted the Prem
& instead it was the noisy neighbours

Anyways whats going on with the tent ?
Its all gone most quiet  :unknown:

Crazy fees indeed.
He's not worth that much but that's how PL is now.

Man City can afford it, a club with more money than sense

Private investment, sponsorship etc ... and no doubt saddling the club with even more debt

So next Scotland manager probably a topic for discussion here rather than on the World Cup thread.

Kudos to Clarke for resigning despite having signed a 4-year deal before the tournament.

Early bookies favourites are: David Moyes, Ange Postecoglu, Alex Neil, Martin O'Neill, Kasper Hjulmand, Steven Naismith.  Derek McInnes would have been a good shout if he hadn’t taken the Sevco job a couple of weeks ago.

No doubt we’ll end up going for Barry Ferguson or some other with a shit track record.

Also, agree with this - copied from the Aberdeen forum.

Quote
Whoever takes charge, nothing will change unless we lose that chip on our shoulder as a nation and stop seeing ourselves as plucky losers and eternal underdogs. The excuses are just getting more and more pathetic now...

- Small population? Didn't stop Iceland, Wales, Norn Iron or Albania performing well at tournaments in the last decade. Croatia and Uruguay consistently punch above their weight, with populations of about 4.5 million. Even Belgium and Portugal are less than double our size, so let's cut the crap.

- Don't have the players? We have enough good players to expect far better performances than we saw at 3 tournaments (and one bottled WC playoff against a Ukrainian team whom Wales then beat to qualify).

- Not the manager's fault? While he's not responsible for individual errors, he persisted with players who simply didn't belong at this level (Hanley, Ralston, Adams, et al) and too frequently set us up not to lose, as opposed to trying to win.

- Can't be more adventurous against better teams? Well, the teams Stein, Roxburgh (pre-Portugal) and Brown put out had far more heart and fighting spirit than the limp units Clarke put out in all 4 tournament / play-off situations.

Watching England in the last two games has made me think Barcelona have made a horrendous financial faux pas (again....) with regards to Gordon and Rashford.
I wasn't convinced by Rashford when they took him on loan but he seems to have adapted and thrived out there and was a bargain at the 30 mil asking price.
Gordon not so much.
I think he may struggle but you never know.

Rashford seems to offer more than Gordon out on the left wing. I'd start him from the off.

Yeah what i've seen of Rashford has been good, what i've seen of the Arsenal player Madueke hasn't been so good on the right

Gordon plays best with
a) quick balls out of defence so he can run form halfway line against pressing sides
b) a traditional fullback who can support him - unfortunately Livo was injured & Hall not selected O'Reilly doesnt do that the way James does on the other wing

but yes I'd start Rashford but please sub him with  Gordon  if we get to penalties !

Gordon is not so good against teams who play a low block and leave no space. Years ago it was called defensive football. Rashford was an improvement on Gordon who has to find a way to find space or he is going to fail. He has the pace so  I dont know why he is just hugging the touchline.

I've moved to this thread as Prem related

60% on the high side tho he does have a point
External Link/Members Only

Beneficiaries Arsenal although they would have still won the Prem tho if closer i'm pretty sure that City would have tried a bit harder on the run in
Arsenal should have been on minus 4 points

The same for Sunderland tho i'm pleased for them as a PL entrant & proper traditional footy club with a solid fan base, they remind me of Leeds

Chelsea also would have seen 4 points deducted finishing just above Leeds
Their very shite season for a £5bn bunch of blue bottlers could have been even worse

IMO the PL have their favourites which flows down to ref & VAR decisions, unconscious bias
Arsenal obvs to avoid City winning the Prem again, whilst they dither clueless as to what to do on the 115 charges [higher higher ?]

Frank Lampard has signed a new contract extension which will keep him at Coventry until 2029. Yes I know contracts don't mean a great deal nowdays but perhaps it will stop him being linked with every managers job going ( especially in London)
or if he does get poached by another club they will have to pay Coventry compensation.

That’s misleading as a large part of Villa’s fine is suspended, in effect, this is a rollover of a suspended punishment handed to the club last summer.

I think BG will go to arsenal and maybe Lewis Hall will be 50/50 stay or go. He won't be impressed on the players leaving. How do Newcastle attract replace that quality of Isaac, Gordon, Tonali and probably BG. Competition for decent players is extremely high and prices are well over market value. It's a big problem at the moment for all clubs. I think that most businesd will be towards the end of the transfer window

The whole issue with Isak was he was promised something by a director of football who he thought had the authority to offer but he didn't. Then Isak went the totally wrong way about getting a transfer, he missed the whole of preseason which I suspect contributed to him getting injured.

There's a medical booked for Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim to replace Gordon, he's only 19 but is supposed to have loads of potential.

Football market is nuts these days, but I don't care. Its not my money. Let them spend whatever they want, makes it entertaining.

Good to see Spurs spending the money and backing a manager for once.

Didn't realise this
Can understand why Isak was miffed
Not the best approach however being lied to his options narrowed hence go nuclear

Didn't realise that there were any DOFs @ StJP thought everything on EH's shoulders
Had Kane not delivered yesterday you could have been looking for a new manager as well as new players

RDZ will have required a solid promise of funds before taking the job
Especially as the 1st year could have been in The Championship
+ a big bonus for keeping them up

Ross Wilson's the current sporting director (we haven't had one called director of football since 2004) but we've had loads of issues with that position. We had Dan Ashworth but he left / got sacked to go to Man U, he didn't last long there.  Then Paul Mitchell came in and it's rumoured he made the promise to Isak which kicked it all off. He was gone withing the year leaving just before Isak in June 2025 'by mutual consent'.

Ashworh was using NUFC email to discuss moving to Man U before he mentioned anything about wanting to leave, you couldn't make it up. He got caught and was put on 'gardening leave', not sure for how long or if Man U paid to have it shortened.

So where is Ashworth  now ?

FA's first Chief Football Officer - whatever that means

1) is anyone surprised ?
2) do you need to know anything else about the FA ?

If you need anything else I refer you the the FAs facebook page
Before taking this job, Ashworth built a strong track record as a sporting and technical director at clubs like Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United, and Manchester United

You've hit the nail on the head
You cant make it up especially re Utd [WankC obvs]

The FA have millions washing around through over pricing tickets to fans
Enough to spunk on a lying cheating twat like him
On a 'non job' specially created no less

In the City Southampton semi final a whole section of the upper tier was empty
Lots of empty seats too in the City end
I know as i was there & its easy to find pictures on the same
Do they contemplate releasing to Saints fans when they will have know early doors that City wouldn't take up their allocation ?
Like fuck they do
Its all about maintaining the high prices
Its not just FIFA price gouging in the WC the FA are at it too
