The other side of that, given that there were two team on the park, is that the England goal lit a fire under Argentina and their substitutions were highly impactful.  They were running you ragged in the last quarter.

In hindsight, the players do have to take some responsibility. There was some performance anxiety, paralysis of analysis. The focus shifted to what could be lost rather than what could be won. That was the moment, though, where Tuchel should have been braver and attempted to assert some control.

Online FiveKnuckles

Big mistake bringing Gordon off, him and Spence were playing well down the left and were our outlets. Then taking Rice off and playing Kane deeper invited Argentina to attack. Argentina scored and we had very little attacking option after that, you could see it happening.

Pulling Gordon for Konsa started our downfall.  Spence had no cover and reverted to the 18 yard box.  Every pass to Messi, Montiel and DePaul had Spence sprinting out.

Messi was a genius to pull Dan Burn out of position, allowing Enzo to strike.

O'Reilly should had been instructed to move towards the touchline to close the space.   A 39 yr old Messi beating 2 lads to provide the cross for Martinez!!   :dash:

Kane, Rogers and Bellingham were shattered.  Kane should had been off for someone to counter and press their backline back.

I want to see the Arsenal lads buy a ticket and leave for London today.  He's gonna play them for the full 90 mins on saturday

All the talk now is regarding the banner that the Argentinian players held up.

Of course it’s Argentina so FIFA will ignore it……… at least until after the final, when any decision they make will be totally pointless.

I’m just wondering what would be happening if it were the English lads holding a banner saying the Falkland’s are British. 🤷🏼

Suggestions to replace Tuchel with Eddie Howe has zero substance. What qualities has he shown at Newcastle that warrants him even a hint of consideration  :unknown:

Ref was fixed to Argentina.

You were watching a different game to the rest of us then, Argentina had 2 yellows to our 1 and gave away 15 free kicks to our 11, thats 4 more fouls incase you struggle with the math, they had 15 shots at goal as opposed to our 5 and 537 successful passes to our 237.

What game did you watch cos I personally thought the ref did a bloody good job with a very difficult match.

Really? Have you been watching Football last few years. His one of the Best English Managers around at this moment.
With the budget his had, Good signings, improved players, delivered good team spirit, saved Newcastle from Relegation about 5 years ago, From Relegation, he got Newcastle playing champions league football a year or 2 later, won Newcastle a trophy even if its Caraboa. There's been s lot of matches where they played brilliant.
I can go on, but without sounding rude, if you dont watch or understand Football, its not worth me wasting my time typing..Please Now tell me, who is the better English Manager.

Our substitutions were highly impactful. Unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.

Very true  :D

Pulling Gordon for Konsa started our downfall.

Added thing with Konsa was he was playing on the overlap and had a couple of chances to put a cross in, but he can't bloody cross. And that's not his fault, he's a CB but the weird formation put him there. Just utterly bizarre from Tuchel.

Been pretty mad about it all day. This set of players would have had a decent chance against Spain even if we were underdogs. Feels sad when I think back to the amazing buzz when Gordon scored, and when Spence did that amazing tackle and fist pumped the crowd I felt it could be out night. But we were utterly outclassed by the end. Just glad it didn't go down to some ropey penalty or red card decision. The reality is we just weren't good enough this tournament.

To be fair to FIFA (what am I saying !)
I dont think they have done anything in similar circumstances than issue a fine
I would bring their manager in and ask him if they didnt think it was a political statement and if not then appoint an English Ref for the final

I hope England fans don’t wear anything like that! That is not “banter “ -it’s down right disrespectful to the people who lost their lives and is also very likely to provoke a response! We don’t need any fighting or rioting!

What a snowflake you are

Bloody good aim Sir [twice]
What i don't understand is that with the Belgrano disabled & assuming no other argie warships in the area [did they have any subs & if so any good ?] why they didn't go in for the kill  :unknown:
With the ship listing this could open up the underside of the ship with the magazine further down in the hull
Hit this & the Belgrano could have gone bang in a huge way
There's one thing sinking it & another blowing it up literally parts of it out of the water
That is was outside the exclusion zone & sailing away from the british fleet face bothered
The feckless dego argie cunts are masters of the dark arts as exhibited on the pitch though this didn't extend to the open seas oh dear
Easy for them to turn it around & use it to major effect
A major hammer blow for the argies helping to turn the tide of the war

They had diesel powered subs, so you could here them coming from about 40 miles away I'd say ... second hand cast offs (as was The Belgrano)

Lot of fowels by argentina went unpunished first half. Should have been one red. The first argentina goal a england player was fowled.

The ref was also know in the past to favour messi. He is known as messi ref.

He was also praying after they won

She (still a she even with a mans name) did have destroyer escorts who did hunt the sub unsuccessfully before turning to rescue survivors Even in liferafts you dont last long in  the South Atlantic. Blowing up the Belgrano or sinking the destroyers and doubling the death toll wouldnt have been too difficult but not "the done thing"

shame HMS Spartan narrowly missed the aircradt carrier

Perhaps England fans should practice singing  "We all live in a Yellow Nuclear submarine"

I wasn't going to bother watching the game against France, but I've changed my mind.

I'm hoping our lads will be able lift their heads back up after the controversial semi final defeat which was arguably the result of Tuchel's unfathomable decisions.
I'm hoping they'll be able to play in the England shirt with pride, flare and aggression which I believe they're capable of.

Not the done thing however there are always exceptions
Now sinking the carrier too would have been brilliant
Especially watching it roll over & planes sliding off the decks
& if any argie jets in the air that would be a fuck of a big problem like where do we land on not much fuel

When it comes to football, I dislike the Argues as much as any England fan - but if showing some respect to people ( both British and Argentinian ) who died in the 1982 war is being a “snowflake” then yes I am a snowflake! I’d rather be that than like you!!

The Gurkhas were deployed to the Falklands during the 1982 conflict. Despite having to deal with a completely foreign climate, landscape and the Antarctic weather, the Gurkhas were well up for a fight; only to be disappointed when the Argentine units they were to face surrendered when they learned it was the Gurkhas coming for them.

You can blame Tuchel all you like but the England players bottled it. Tuchel reacted to that by leaning into it. That obviously turned out not to be a good plan but there's no guarantee putting more attackers on would have worked either. England had 12% possession from the time they scored and that includes plenty of time before the substitutions. Ultimately it was a massive bottle job by the England team.
