Just checked, most of your reviews are from East Anglia. I'd argue that explains it. As a fellow easterner, we seem to have to pay london prices to get generic services from only somewhat attractive providers. Most of the good ones have left.
I find myself in the same situation. Im at home and I just scroll, with nothing taking my fancy. Whenever I'm in a decent area however it's a completely different ballgame. Thankfully I get to travel once or twice a year for work, which usually gives me a few days to sample the local offerings.
I'd recommend finding a hobby which has you travelling a bit. Getting into a premiership rugby team is a decent option as we don't have anything reasonably local. Miniature wargaming is a decent excuse to travel about a lot to the tournaments, and can be quite solitary too (if you need to make an excuse at home that is).
I'd never travel exclusively for a punt, but in the east anglian area unfortunately after a year or two there isn't enough turnaround so you need to start looking further afield, which makes punting on a whim less likely and you actually have to plan a decent time ahead. By the time you get to the punt you might not be feeling it and instead of cancelling you go, and the magic starts to fade.
