I'm not going to comment on the case ( innocent until proven guilty and all that) but I have never understood what made him so popular in the first place.

Offline Blackpool Rock

Already a thread about him but looks like things are moving along now, don't think he will fair well in prison if he's found guilty, pick up the soap please

Yeah, never found him remotely funny as a comedian.

agreed - I always assumed it was because I was too old !

Hopefully, this provides the opportunity for the truth to come out and for justice to be served. He'll either be found guilty or not. Time will tell.

Can someone who is more knowledgeble about the mechanics detail how this works if he is in the US? How are papers served etc?

They issue an international warrant for his arrest. He gets extradited to face the charges or the US could deport if they fancy but I am assuming he has a green card via his marriage to Katy Perry and now can't be deported.

Green Card holders can be deported, on receipt of an international arrest warrant. If he's in the UK and arrives at a US entry point, he'll likely be denied readmission.

He has been charged by post. He could attend the UK court date in May voluntarily? If he doesn't he will not be able to enter the UK at some future date, as he will be arrested and his passport confiscated.

This would then mean the UK seeks extradition. That would likely be a very lengthy process.

He is of course a huge Donald supporter, so that may result in extradition not being granted? Given his Trump connection I cannot envisage any circumstance where he would be deported?

No, you're correct. If he'd become a US citizen then he can't be deported.

Bearing in mind he's been around a long time but it wasn't until the stuff a few years ago that I wound out he was apparently a comedian after asking someone what the fuck it was that he did, they didn't know either so had to Google it  :D

Indeed.

Although to secure a conviction the evidence against him will need to be a lot more compelling than was presented in the Times/Channel 4 expose last year.

Some of the things that stick with me are dressing as Bin Laden the day after 911 and how he and Jonathan Ross harassed Andrew Sachs, taunting him about fucking his daughter.
And yeah not funny.

Yes like him or loath him,  he is prersumed innocent untill convicted, remember that principle/...

The evidence will be good enough that CPS think they have a good chance of getting a conviction, or they wouldn't have authorised the Met to charge him.
Brand himself seems quite confident of an acquittal as he's 'grateful for the chance to prove my innocence' according to that BBC article.

We'll see. It would not be unknown for CPS to pursue a case due to pressure - say arising from the media coverage of the prior allegations.

Was wondering how the charges lined up with those previous allegations, doesn’t seem clear from the reporting.

Offline Munter84

Easy for me to say as somebody who's fortunate enough to never been the victim of a serious crime, but why do these allegations against public figures invariably take so long to become public?

The most recent of Brand's alleged crimes happened TWENTY YEARS ago. I would doubt my own ability to make a clear and rational testmony of something that happened two years ago, let alone two decades. At this stage there will be people both pro and con Brand who hold wildly different recollections of what actually happened.

Anyway, I hope justice somehow is achieved.

Believe me if you had been raped or had a similar trauma you would be able to replay every detail involved,  including the smells and sounds.

I can run through the sequence of events from an attempted rape at knifepoint when I was 18, thats 41 years ago, to the fine detail, what was said, the weather, the colour of his car, his clothes, the state of his house etc I'm not traumatised by it in any way now, I dealt with that decades ago, but I can still remember.
Randomly the one thing I cannot recall is what he actually looked like facially,  I can remember his build, hight, hair etc but his face has gone and I was in his company for several hours :unknown:

First and foremost I'm very sorry to hear you went through that. And no, I don't doubt at all that somebody would be able to clearly recall a traumatic experience.

My fault for not being clear: I was mostly thinking of the accuracy of any witness testimonies after that kind of time. Without that, it all becomes he-said-she-said and a balance of probabilities, surely.

Not defending Brand, who I've always found abhorrent, but I really think that Ross got away lightly with this one, as he seemed to set the tone for what was a pretty unseemly broadcast.

I've always thought that Ross has a sniggery, juvenile schoolboy sense of humour. Another one I don't understand how he got to where he is.

Things finally seem to be catching up with the obnoxious 1st class miso cunt Russell Brand
He will have his day in Court, where judgement will be passed
If just a one woman & a one man its he said she said
However when there are [so far] four women involved, a theme is emerging
The CPS will know that they need to be on very solid foundations otherwise they could be sued big styley if things go against them + the adverse publicity credibility issues
Me thinks they are pretty confident

Now that there is a case date it will encourage others unsure as to what to do to come forward
Not jumping on the bandwagon, [rightly] shit scared of putting themselves putting their head above the trenches
Trumpy wont be coming to the rescue of RB like with Tate, he'll be like who ?  :unknown:
See what happens in Court, no smoke without a fire

On other matters Phil's TV return has hit the buffers
Cast away
Not as bad as Randy Andy's train crash interview but heading in the same direction
Let's see how far 'unwise but not illegal' gets Phil  :D

The indie summed it up perfickly

Having been on the jury in 2 rape trials, and seen how Defence Barristers go after the victim, these women are indeed very brave. The burden of proof in Criminal Trials is "beyond reasonable doubt", "balance of probabilities" is for Civil matters.
I strongly suspect Brand will be rather less keen on having his day in Court when his brief tells him about the "reckless as to consent" bit in the indictment.

Russel Brand not the sort of person to keep quiet, so when it comes to the court case, and being questioned by his defense team, and the prosecutor.  I would expect him to have something to say about this

Crikey, thats some experience  :hi:
The defence barristers must get a good feel as to what their client & the circumstances are all about
If they dont have this they are not best equipped to be able to defend him
To the best of their ability
I wonder how it sits in their minds when they are 99% certain that the defendant is guilty as ?
Just doing their job  :unknown:
& if they cant work out whats been going on they're clueless, i'm not sure which is worse

No doubt they are well paid but its not like they will be on a win bonus to any material amount
Unless their client is very well wedged up & even then how can they be rewarded without leaving a monetary trace
Its not like years ago when substantial items like houses cars could be purchased for cash
& if this is on the table they will know 110% that their client is guilty
The scope as to what they can achieve, who knows ?

I would like to think that after such barristers have ripped someone [probably more than one person] to pieces that at some point karma makes an appearance

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that other women will come forward, four is quite a few & more is becoming a crowd

Huw got off very lightly which doesnt bode well for Brand, that would be unfortunate should he be found guilty
Interesting how nonces like Huw & Phil go about their daily lives when what they've done is visible to all
They must be spending a fuck load on deliveries for stuff like food & daily necessities, i wonder which name they put on the order ?
Its a bit different for a certain royal, tho i would be most impressed if Fortnum & Mason told him to FRO

Yes agree, they both were acting despicably, more like spiteful 15 year olds than adult men.

Yes, roughly that. His actual response was …

“I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord.  I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile, but what I never was, was a rapist.  I’ve never engaged in non- consensual activity. I pray you can see that by looking in my eyes.”

… but he will need more than people believing him when they look in his eyes.

Funny thing was that I was watching the news piece about him and thinking that his eyes gave him away in younger clips and he looked insane and incredibly dubious.  Then they showed the clip where he said that......

There's been loads of threads on social media by people who allegedly worked with him as runners, producers or bar staff and how "rapey" he was. Strange how 20 years ago he had no shortage of women wanting to fuck him.

Supposedly four women have come forward being the basis of the CPS charge
I wonder in light of being charged further have contacted the rozzers handling the case ?
Nowt in the media
Tho the CPS could be playing their cards close to their chest
Last minute its ooh sorry its not four its now five / six ... etc
This could deflate Brand's balloon rather rapidly

The bbc are in a damage limitation exercise

Trying to ascertain if bbc paid for taxis were used to pick up the GF
The records havent been properly kept, quelle surprise

He was 31 & she was 16, this is suspect behaviour not much especially him being in a position of power & the age difference
Its another Phil & Huw

Furthermore
'In 2008 Brand resigned from the BBC after leaving voicemails for the actor Andrew Sachs about sleeping with his granddaughter'
This shows him to be a 1st class cunt
Jonathan Ross joined Brand in doing this, he must have a twitchy ring piece awaiting the trial unsure about what will come out in the media
Serves him right, dont do it in the 1st place

In 2023 the bbc director general announced a full investigation into Brands behaviour at the bbc between 2006 & 2008
Shame the bbc didnt think about doing this in 2008 / shortly thereafter
No surprises as the bbc has a long history of harbouring & protecting predators & paedos, through inactivity keen to keep everything below the radar

No smoke without a fire
Whether Brand gets convicted we will find out
Irrespective of this IMO he's both a predator & a wrong un
