Hi everyone,
I didn’t want to risk bumping an old post:
https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=247763.msg2531537#msg2531537

But since lockdown a lot has happened, stress, money, losing a loved one, life in general.
Anyway, I think ED has taken ahold, not even blue pills work anymore. My sex life is virtually non existent these days.

Admittedly I could cut down on the porn, and try and be a bit more active. I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this?
The OP of the above post seems to have been able to reverse this. I’m in my 40’s, I hope it’s not too late.  :dash:

stop smoking
stop drinking
stop using recreational drugs (if you are)
stop wanking
lose weight
switch to a healthy diet
get fit
try to remove any stresses in your life
see your GP and get checked out - could be due to many things: high blood pressure, low blood pressure, thyroid problems, kidney problems, diabetes, low testosterone just for starters
or it could be psychiatric - which comes back to removing stress from your life

Scutty more or less nailed it.

You know yourself better than us lot and in your forties this should not be happening if you’re physically healthy and mentally stable. So first stop is talking to your GP.
NOT ASKING PEOPLE ON HERE WHAT YOU SHOULD DO.

Other posts have more or less covered it. After around 25 years without sex I was widowed and started punting. Tried various pills and also dreaded injection treatment from my GP. Found tadalafil worked best but not perfect. Caverject injection gives the erection but it's difficult to ejaculate. It took me 18 months before I could cum during intercourse. I had to make do with COB. Last few months I have managed chemical free. Difference is I am late sixties so I am sure you can recover much quicker. Don't fret it just be patient and tell yourself during your next punt you are having the best sex of your life.

As others have said, get to your GP, they will be able to help, but the most important thing is to find out whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes as the treatment is very different.
I have Type 2 and have lost a lot of weight simply by reducing my sugar intake (lost 3 trouser sizes over about 2 years) and my ability to get an erection has improved - not to what it was 10 years ago, but I put some of that down to age as well as the Type 2 (I'm about 10 - 15 years older than you) but you can get ED medication on free prescription should you need it.

Losing weight if you're overweight is the biggest help. I've gone from 19 stone odd to 13 stone odd in a year and not had such good boners since my twenties. I'm 51.

Wow, congratulations Freddie!
I used to be a constant 16 stone, but since taking metformin I pretty much hover around 13.5–14 stone. I wouldn’t mind shaving off an extra weight. But yeah, I think a visit to the GP is in order… if I can get a bloody appointment. I call first thing at 8:30, and I’m always 50th in the queue. I think a lot of it is stress/phycological.

From 19 to 13 stone is amazing mate! I imagine that was hard work. Very impressive!

Surprisingly not, it was triggered by a nasty stomach bug a year ago where I didn't eat for nearly a month, then cut out the beer, sweet stuff and high fat foods. It's fallen off. Still going down slowly but feel like a new man.

I’ve got high blood pressure and found ED creeping in. Went to the docs who confirmed the blood pressure tablets can cause ED. They prescribed sildenafil which is helping.
So it’s definitely worth talking to your doctor.
I’m on amlodipine, indapamide and ramipril. If you’re on similar that might be the cause, or it could be something else. Medical professional is the way to go

Same here, I was on a high dose of Lisinopril, which has ED as a known side effect. Switched to candesarten and all good again.

Sounds very familiar.
Metformin, the more tablets I have to take it feels like the less effective the blue pills are.
Amlodipine, and Atorvastatin, however you spell it. V just gives me a hangover without the fun bit.

Metformin is the "gold standard" as far as the NHS is concerned, so they chuck it out like smarties for type 2. I'm on 4 a day!

Just be aware that blood pressure meds taken with sildenafil can increase the risk of hypotension.
Obviously this will depend on other factors like general health, age, dosage etc.
My GP didn't warn me when he originally prescribed Viagra.
It was only when I was referred to a cardiologist due to occasional episodes of syncope that I found out.

Offline gentlemencaller

I was on metformin for around 10 years. I lost the weight, cutting down on meal sizes, sugar and bread. Asked my GP for a trial without medication. After 3 months went back for tests and no longer type 2. Found I still needed the chemical help but I now haven't needed any ED medication for quite a few months.

It's a bugger when that happens......got me a few months back, just as I'd got to the front of the queue at Wetherspoons.
Came to on my back by the bar with the barstaff fussing over me. Actually they did quite a good job

I'm obviously not a man or a doctor. But I have encountered quite a few with ED. Some are quite open about having it. Unfortunately despite what some men seem to think we (the SP) don't have some kind of magic trick to make them instantly maintain an erection. All the advice above about improving general health and lifestyle choices is good. As well as asking a doctor(don't be embarrassed) as it could be a symptom of something more serious. I would say if you can get hard and cum when watching porn and "self service" but struggle with "live" women then it could be more of a psychological issue. But you should still get real medical advice rather than anecdotes from other men or SP.

Have you tried using a cock ring? Some men that helps and I would imagine doesn't have any chance of side effects like taking medication could.

Good advice, and cock rings have worked wonders for me.
However there are some risks of side effects, and they shouldn't be worn for longer than 30 minutes.
Also avoid metal ones which may lead to an embarrassing visit to A&E.

Yeah I never really thought about that. I have had quite a few men bring their own and I would normally let them put them on and take them off themselves. Normally they are made of flexible material like silicone or something. I don't know if I would want to have sex with someone with a metal one as it might not be very comfortable for me either.

Is the hospital visit something that happened to you personally!?

Have you tried Cialis?  I don’t need it massively but love the effects.  Try 3-4 mg per day or every other day.

And lose some timber.

I just presumed they were generally safe for everyone because they are not a medication. I wonder if they have any warning on the package when you buy one?

This is something I suffered from and occasionally still do. Changing my diet and being more active helped and i also stopped taking anti depressants. I also changed condoms to ones which wasnt as tight as i think that played a big part.
But the biggest thing that has helped me is realising its not a race and that im not as young as i once was. With my partner that isnt an issue as im not on a half hour limit but i think some of it is in the mind. On recent bookings ( i dont see many WGs now) i have started doing stuff that i love but avoided with escorts for fear of STIs etc. I now engage in kissing, reverse oral and love rimming and because this turns me on incredibly, little George is much more active...without the blue pills. ( also the blue pills make me feel like shit after )

I posted this on a another thread and have updated it slightly

I am 72 and started using Viagra 5 years ago. Last year I began a relationship still going to this day with someone much younger than me and I confessed I used Viagra. However after the first couple of months, I found with a combination of almost no wanking, no porn and losing some weight, I was able to get fully erect and haven't used Viagra for the last 12 months.  I must admit I hated the thought that I had got to the age of needing Viagra and the side effects for me were a stuffy nose and indigestion. Whether if I ever visited another WG I would have the same confidence I don't know but if it happens I would give it a try.  By not having to take it, mentally for me, it has rolled back the years and I feel far younger than my age.

This resonates, and is optimistic - thank you.

My cardio health has gone south to the point where I've sufferred for most of the last five years.  It's my own making, and choice, but this coming year I intend to reverse that, and with good diet and hopefully self discipline ain to reverse to some degree my chronic severe ED before I'm forced to go back to a medical expert.

Not a problem with being hard or getting hard (though that's nowhere near as "on demand" as it used to be  :dash:) but I've noticed of late and it's really affecting punting that penetrative sex isn't hitting the spot like it used to as in it's lacking sensitivity down below and orgasms are weak.  Several times I've punted and there's been nothing wrong with the girl or the service but afterwards I've felt I may as well not have bothered.

Less problems when it's unprotected sex with OH and decreasing band of FBs but still not what it was.

Yes, but what may be a welcome side effect for some (lasting longer) is an unwanted one for many others (unable to orgasm).

Antidepressants are quite problematic when it comes to sexual side effects, including loss of libido, ED and weight gain  :hi:

Normal for who?  :unknown: Anyone with a heart condition and taking heart meds should consult their doctor or cardiologist before taking any sort of ED medication.

If you happen to be in hospital and have a cardiac arrest there's a 75% chance you won't recover, that figure increases to 92% in you aren't in hospital. Not the best of odds for the sake of talking to a doctor.

I've never been diagnosed with it but during my mid 20s I noticed there were periods when it would just die on me in the middle of seeing a WG. I put it down to my ongoing depression as my GP was confident I had higher than average testosterone and I've never been fat. Sometimes the symptom comes back but I usually manage to stay hard if the girl is attractive enough and does the bare minimum.

Going to strip clubs might've helped me a bit but I don't really know. I definitely didn't have trouble getting hard with a physical lapdance but with sex it's different.

I definitely don't think my symptoms were connected to porn use however I mostly moved on from hardcore to lighter camgirl stuff anyway.

I don't see myself ever trying viagra as I hear you can become dependent on it if used as a younger man.

On the subject of orgasms... For me to cum during vaginal sex is very rare also, although I think if I had regular unprotected sex it would probably be easier.
