Commander Nigel “Sharkey” MacCartan-Ward, DSC, AFC, who led the Harriers in the Falklands and of whom Sandy Woodward (task force commander said "If he hadn't disobeyed my orders we would have lost the Falklands war" He shot down three Argentinian aircraft himself and many enemy aircraft turned around when they picked up the Harrier radar. His book "Sea Harrier over the Falklands - what really happened " didnt endear him to the Top Brass
Something of a rebel throughout his life he was liaison officer for the development of the Sea Harrier and famously landed one at the BBC studios after the RAF had refused as it was too dangerous
