While I was reading a recently bumped-up thread – “Tips and positions when punting a BBW” – I noticed that on 20 March last year David Good wrote this: “I had the pleasure of buggering this big beauty as she knelt on a chair at a party a couple of years ago.”
Seeing that word in print was like a breath of fresh air – in a manner of speaking – and prompts me to ask why buggery’s gone out of fashion?
The word, that is, not the activity, which some surveys seem to suggest has never been more popular.
Buggery’s a good, honest, old-fashioned word, like fucking and fellatio – and definitely has, erm, a ring to it.
Yet, when it comes to using the tradesmen’s entrance, terms more commonly used these days include: "A Levels" (too twee), "anal sex" (too biological) and “bum-fuck” (too informal).
Bring back buggery, I say! Let's see more of it!
(I also like sodomy, but I guess it's probably best to ride one linguistic hobby-horse at a time.)
