" I'd kind of expect both protagonists to collapse exhausted after 12 rounds and be covered in cuts, bumps and bruises "
Funny but you dont get points or win by getting hit ! On the night Usyk was way better and god knows how some clown of a judge had AJ winning
Even on sky (no crap streaming for me ) there was no big fight atmosphere to be had with only a max of 10,000 tea towel crowd so if Usyk v Fury happens lets hope its in front of 90,000+ real fight fans , yes they may get a bit more money off the Arabs but just how much do they need ?
If i was getting punched in the head by the biggest and best head punchers on the planet in front of a massive audience I'd want every last penny. And whilst I don't encourage tax avoidance I would want to know exactly why the government were taking 40% of my £40 million. So I can well understand why they go oversseas.
On the fight I think it cannot be underestimated the amount of influence the last seconds of every round can have on the mindset of those judging. And also the last few rounds of the fight.
Usyk clearly won the last 3 rounds. But if Joshua had won just one of them, like he had won the 9th, he'd have drawn the fight. If he'd have won 2 he would have got the decision, which wouldn't have been as much of a travesty as the decision on the card immediately previous.
Eddie Hearn was telling every outlet afterwards how he went to AJ after the 9th and said "You've got him, he's finished." Well couple of thoughts, 1. What the fuck was he doing getting in the way? and 2. Didn't that turn out to be exactly the worst kind of message to say? If he'd have said... have that round again and you can't lose the fight maybe Joshua would have been able to drag the energy up from somewhere.
It'd be interesting to see what happens next, Fury may be a better boxer than Joshua but I don't know he hits any harder. Could this be the way back into the scene for Wilder? Could he tag Usyk?
