Around here getting a crime number (especially for something which the police cant be bothered to investigate or feel that they are unlikely to easily solve ) is like getting blood from a stone

They dont actually refuse but all cops appear to have had a course in avoiding giving one or reducing it to a lower category eg Criminal damage down to anti social if you persist

Its a very effective way to reduce the stats
The individual copper has no say in what a crime is classified as in Crime Stats, it's done by the Home Office.

Long queues for petrol in Moscow as Ukrainian drones continue to disrupt oil refineries meaning Russia who are an energy Superpower have actually had to start importing fuel  :scare:
Special military operation my arse :sarcastic:

The drone strikes did cause some loss of production in Russia, what you might not know is that Russia has historically had a lack of petrol production, and in the summer holiday season there is always a demand from citizens taking road trips. But the reports of huge shortages is propaganda, the drone strikes are 40kg explosives popping on a fuel tank, makes a huge fire and black smoke, but is quickly replaced. In the meantime Russia has taken out the majority of Ukrainian petrol stations in eastern Ukraine, this has had the result of slowing logistic support to the AFU on the front, as well as starving the mobile drone teams of fuel too.

You do know that the small FPV drones Ukraine uses are Electric powered don't you?

Crime has fallen in the last 10 years!!

No, it hasn't. Those statistics fly in the face of what we can see with our own eyes. Shoplifting has now more or less been decriminalised, it's now on an industrial scale. Go into a co-op in some affluent areas of London and it's like you're in the South side of the Bronx. People don't bother reporting crime because they know the police will do nothing. You need to take off those rose tinted glasses and stop believing this state propaganda. Your complacency beggars belief.

In the quaint city of Chicheste less than 100 yds from this beautiful 14th Century Market Cross the Co-Op in the main street has nearly  half its goods  - (including all drinks) behind locked glass doors and you have to drag (what is frequently the only)  assistant to unlock the display

Exactly! Which is why statistics are manipulated to pretend crime is falling, when we can see with our own eyes that this is a lie.

A true story; in an affluent part of London recently I asked an assistant in a small Sainsbury's why the Oxo cubes were on one of those twirly things and were awkward to pick. She said because otherwise, people would just sweep every one into their bag and leave without paying. Fucking Oxo cubes!

How naive are you ?

1) no crime number = no crime in any stat and is never seen by anyone let alone a HO official
2) If the individual copper is forced to give a crime number but decides to record it as a lesser crime and its never investigated anyway How does a Home office official decide how it is classified ?

You cant really believe that any HO official has ever driven out and re-interviewed any reported crime

I agree shop lifting is a major problem, has been for years and is getting worse.  That is partly due to stupid changes in the way it is (or is not) dealt with, the cost of living and a change in social attitude to it that mean some see it as a victimless crime.  However that does not change the fact that overall crime is on a downward trend.

are there any reliable stats showing overall crime is on a downward trend ?
there are lots of stats showing RECORDED crime is on a downward trend - they are not the same thing

Shoplifting is just one example there are literally tens of thousands of incidents of shoplifting that are never reported let alone recorded or investigated.
No-one knows how many so by definition there are no reliable stats on overall crime
