Now we are to believe that a bloke cutting his dick off unquestionably makes him a woman.  Questioning this will get you banned by an organization sponsored by the Royal Family.

It's hella funny seeing women accused of being transphobic recently but also odd, they've got every right to defend their womanhood. A TS is not a woman and will never go through the issues that a real woman has to go through.

I know the artist.

I'll also add people really need to be careful what they post on social media if you have a high profile job/gig especially if you're trying to look whiter than white.

You can't change DNA with surgery. A transgender female is simply a surgically altered man, not a woman, physically at least. How they feel mentally is up to them.

Absolutely. There's no point dope testing athletes anymore if they're allowing biological males to compete in women's events so not to hurt their feelings

What a ludicrous set of comments.

Yes there is a point to dope testing, because doping is against the rules and potentially detrimental to the long term health of competitors.

Now if you want to say you don't feel it appropriate that transgendered athletes be allowed to compete in their post transition category because you feel they have had a significant advantage due to hormonal development or some other rational reason then fair enough.

Rules may be out of date, but to say they are there "so not to hurt feelings" is just not true and does your point of view no benefit to say that it is.

Doping is against the rules because it gives competitors an unfair advantage. A biological male competing in a women's sport gives them an unfair advantage. It goes much further than hormonal development

But you said it was because of hurt feelings.

No I said that was the reason they do allow it. Why would you say they allow biological males to compete in women's sport when it's clearly not a level playing field?

Because there was an adjudication based on the rules - and the rules are out of date and are no longer fit for purpose.

This apparently cancelled artist said:

“I have no issue with somebody who feels more comfortable expressing themselves as if they are the other sex (or in whatever way they please for that matter). However, I cannot accept people’s unsubstantiated assertions that they are in fact the opposite sex to when they were born and deserve to be extended the same rights as if they were born as such.”

That's a point of view. There are other points of view, the arguments over transgender rights vs. cisgender rights are varied, nuanced and complicated, from what public toilets you use to what gender you perform under as a sportsperson. It's a point of view, not a statement full of bile and hate for another human being. So why simply ban this artist? Especially when you consider the breadth of expression in art, which previously has been embraced as wholly desirable.

This is just the kind of crap which we are seeing more and more of, and it seems that every public institution and business is scared shitless of having a few gormless and over-the-top comments lobbed at them on Twitter. It is truly pathetic  :unknown:.

If this is the road we're going down, it seems that not only is common sense dead, so is art.

Jeezus, if we cannot have free speech in art, where can we have it  :unknown:  :dash:  :dash:  :dash:

Apparently she gave an interview to Radio 4 yesterday saying she would be content with an apology and to have her work reinstated, but that she also has precedence thanks to the Forstater ruling for a legal remedy.

I think this is allowed within rule 11 but if it is in violation please delete with my apologies

Joanna Harper, transsexual academic concedes live on air that the research on which she based the recommendation to allow Laurel Hubbard to compete in the Olympics is 'Imperfect,' science using studies of the normal population, not athletes - and that even these studies demonstrate males to female TS  maintain performance advantages (of course!) after surgery.

If you are interested the interview is worth listening to.   Emma Barnet wipes the floor with Harper and reveals the decision to allow Hubbard to compete as a woman is profoundly unsafe.

A little bit of sanity then  :unknown:.

I think any decent person would feel that transgender people have a right to live the lives they want, unhindered and free from prejudice and any nastiness. Out of sheer humanity. But minority groups aren't always 'right', whatever the pain they feel and however downtrodden/misunderstood they feel. Just because you feel you're hard done by, doesn't mean you are.
