This apparently cancelled artist said:
“I have no issue with somebody who feels more comfortable expressing themselves as if they are the other sex (or in whatever way they please for that matter). However, I cannot accept people’s unsubstantiated assertions that they are in fact the opposite sex to when they were born and deserve to be extended the same rights as if they were born as such.”
That's a point of view. There are other points of view, the arguments over transgender rights vs. cisgender rights are varied, nuanced and complicated, from what public toilets you use to what gender you perform under as a sportsperson. It's a point of view, not a statement full of bile and hate for another human being. So why simply ban this artist? Especially when you consider the breadth of expression in art, which previously has been embraced as wholly desirable.
This is just the kind of crap which we are seeing more and more of, and it seems that every public institution and business is scared shitless of having a few gormless and over-the-top comments lobbed at them on Twitter. It is truly pathetic

.
If this is the road we're going down, it seems that not only is common sense dead, so is art.
