That Dykes is the worst fucking player I've ever seen in a Scotland jersey.

Nesbit should've been on far earlier.  Way too defensive for a home game against a team we've done home and away, recently.

What the fuck the keeper was playing at, I'll never know.

Need to get our fingers out our arses for Friday and get stuck into England.

Offline Thephoenix

You know the players change each tournament, yeah?

In fact most of this group of players in this England squad seem level-headed, well-mannered and thoughtful (Maguire may be the exception!). I think it comes from the manager's expectations as much as anything, maybe he has selected a group who won't preen.

The performance yesterday was good, not exceptional and there was no killer instinct. A 1-0 win with such a skill, possession and tactical advantage always concerns me. If that shot had gone in off the post (or keeper) early on then it might have been a different story.

It's good to get the win.
Not sure we had a skill/possession advantage.
It was a sound workmanlike performance.
Defence was good, but I think we lacked real creativity and guile in midfield, with not enough players wanting to turn with the ball and create something going foward apart from Phillips.
Too often the ball was just played backwards again.
Only Sterling had the courage to really run at players.
Whilst Mount, Rice and Foden were ok, I don't think they did enough to guarantee a place against Scotland.

I had the England game on the TV but was just listening to it , the whole of the first half i was thinking whats happened to Kane isnt he playing or what , then the 2nd half starts and he gets substituted , ah so he was playing after all and then the BBC cameraman decides to follow Kane while hes doing his walk applauding the England fans like watching him is in someway more noteworthy than watching the actual game thats going on in the meanwhile , kinda ridiculous imho following a player applauding the crowd like hes some kind of legend that people want to see more than just watching the game

That was a most disappointing result/performance from Scotland. Two very sloppy goals conceded, yeah great finishes but in each lead-up the Scots were naive and sloppy. I don't think it's fair to point finger at any individual but collectively they were well short of the poise and quality needed at this level. What particularly surprised me was the lack of pace and energy throughout the side, it looked like they were playing their 10th game, not their first. I expected far more and its hard to see how England won't be able to comfortably put them to the sword on Friday. Maybe being away with zero expectation might free them up to play with a bit more verve and enterprise?

Dykes isn't Scottish, an Aussie by birth but that shows you the state we're in as a nation. As for the goalkeeper, remember a certain Alan Rough, Stewart Kennedy and of course Frank Haffey. Black comedies don't come much darker than the Scotland football team.

They used to say that when Scotland did qualify for the finals of major tournaments that they would be "home before the postcards".  At least this year they don't have far to travel home.  :D  knowing that they really need to get a good result in their next game against England they will be fired up.

Hilarious as Boyle is playing for the Aussies.

In tennis terms yes but overall  :unknown: I’d say plenty of other contenders

Sir Chris Hoy
Lewis Hamilton
Jonny Wilkinson
Steve Redgrave
Nick Faldo

Even Phil Taylor for chucking darts!

Obviously old school footballers as the current crop are shite  :hi:

Nice try at blaming the BBC, but for all games in this tournament the national broadcasters are not in control of the in-stadium cameras. Neither are the BBC providing the camera team for London.

It never ceases to amaze me-year in/year out-that England football fans STILL think that their pathetic team of over paid, preening muppets will EVER win another major trophy. This is why the chimps constantly cackle on about the 1966 world cup-because it`s the last time it will be won by England....Give it up,it`s over-always has been.

You forgot to include "22 men running about chasing a bag of air" in your post.....

There must be a separate record here for the furthest out of the goal a keeper has been during open play. Fucking hell,  he was virtually on the halfway line when Czechs got possession of ball. Ridiculous! Presume he has no faith in his lumbering defenders or his own pace so overcompensated with his starting position.

In terms of keepers going forward then Bruce Grobbelaar has to be a contender, often used to see him approaching the half way line  :scare:  :D

Not forgetting goalkeepers who go into the oppositions penalty box for corner kicks in the dying seconds of the game like Peter Schmeichel did. Can't remember the game but a goalkeeper did this a few weeks ago. It might have been one of the play off finals. Perhaps the Scotland goalkeeper thought they had won a corner and was taking an amble up the pitch  :D

I called it "open play" to distinguish from those 90th minute set pieces when it's shit or bust and the goalie goes up. It's baffling why Marshall would be out of his area for general open play.

So Portugal took their time and finally saw off Hungary while France did for the Germans, not the best game of the Tournament so far as people were saying it would be, that is still Holland v Ukraine by far, have to agree with the commentators, Germany's attack was toothless

Well he did make up for it in the end with that assist, he didn't look like he was going to score the pen with a stuttering run up, I actually wonder if he perhaps slightly scuffed the grass as he was about to kick the ball which lifted it well over.
Apparently that's the 1st missed pen excluding shoot outs that hasn't been saved or hit the woodwork in the Euros since 2000

Had some cash on 2-0 so i'm feeling lucky as fuck with that result   :drinks:

Great performance by Wales and all their players to a man. Bale showed his skill especially in setting up both goals. Loved he fact he didnt just take the ball in the corner for the second. Well done Wales plenty of attitude and passion on display 👍
