The best team in this tournament is Ireland 🇮🇪

I've been perusing my wall chart again..... I see that if England progress by winning group AND winning round of 16 match they have to go to Rome for quarterfinal. Basically,  if they keep winning, Rome on July 3rd is their only away day. One thing, Italy are in other half of the draw so the game in Rome would NOT be against Italy.

I think they said on the news this morning that if Italy win their group (which looks likely) then they will have to play at Wembley for that fixture

Who would you put down as current favorite to win the Euros, and at the moment, I would say Italy stand a good chance

Possibly find out in there next game, if they win by 3 or more goals, and even looking at who they could get in the next round. which would be team 2nd place group c: Ukraine, Austria, MXD, Holland

So might say either, Ukraine or Austria

Italy have been scintillating so far. France, Belgium and Portugal have all been solid. England cannot be ruled out nor he Germans. No one else really.

Yes. If they top group they come to Wembley for their round of 16 game, QF Munich, semi Wembley and final Wembley.... basically they will be finished with Rome.

Gareth Bale: form is temporary but class is permanent.

One of the best displays I've seen from him.
His skill, passing and awareness was outstanding.
Pity he's not English. We could do with such and intelligent and creative player
With him and Sherwood linking so well Wales could go far.

Forget about the penalty.... we've all missed them.

Bale is still a class player but obviously getting on a bit now, looks like he is now changing his style a bit or rather not doing as much of the running but providing assists for the younger lads to run after but his reading of the game and "Football brain" is still 100%

Yeah i'd say Italy are best so far though half the sides have still only played 1 game so perhaps too early to tell.
I kept falling asleep during the France Vs Germany game as I was knackered but every time I did see bits France seemed to be zipping the ball around and had 2 goals ruled out yet the studio commentators said it was a poor game  :unknown:

I completly concur. Thought his passing was majestic, and he more than made up for the penalty miss. What I loved most was his reluctance to run down the clock. It was very intelligent, becasue he knew that Turkey would attempt to stop him from wasting time, and in return he exposed the gaps. He remains a top player.

Certainly the form team at the moment. Seem to play attractive  football not the dour defensive football Italians are usually known for.

Italy have undoubtedly impressed most, but for me, France remain the team to beat. They were as good as they needed to be against Germany, almost playing within themselves, which is a bit worrying for the rest. It's almost a case of them daring the opposition to pick its poison. But, as with knockout football, all it takes is one bad day.

Spain looked good, but just have no killer instinct.

I'm finding my interest waning. I've put most games on the telly but I've only actually sat and properly watched a couple. I think it's two things: football overload due to domestic league games happening virtually everyday since September and barely any peril with these Euro group games - its a convoluted expanded format designed to spew out nearly 5hrs of league football everyday, its too much!

Have to agree. The expanded format is ridiculous.  Something I commented on in an earlier posting. A team that had previously lost its first 2 games could win their last game and still qualify for the knockout stages.

Been really enjoying the Euros and watching as many matches as possible. There have been some terrific matches and talking points already.

Especially enjoyed putting on Denmark vs Belgium today and seeing a pleasant surprise seated between Graeme Sourgrapes-Souness and Cashley Cole.

Half Danish half Afghan profession football player Nadia Nadim... nope never heard of her before either but just her voice made me hard!

I like to have a flutter on Footy so plenty to occupy me at the moment with with the Euros in full flow but i'm kicking myself that i've possibly missed an opportunity for an easy win

Anyone who gambles will know how rare it is to find a situation where you can bet on all outcomes and be guaranteed a profit etc but likewise while not guaranteed there are also occasionally situations where a result is more likely to happen.

A comment was made by Lineker last night after the Holland Vs Austria game that looking at the table for group C a situation has arisen where Holland are top on 6 points followed by Ukraine and Austria both on 3 points and North Macedonia on 0 points.

Ukraine and Austria still have to play each other so a draw would put them both on 4 points and it's almost certain that both clubs would qualify for the next round in 2nd place and one of the best 3rd place places.
Lineker's comment was along the lines of I wonder how that one will finish

I was too knackered to look at the odds last night and remembered an hour or so ago while out for a walk, i'd normally expect the odds for a draw to be between 2/1 and 5/2 possibly slightly higher at 11/4 however it's been backed down to more like even money  :scare:
Too late to bet on it now as the value has gone  And i'm left sucking my thumb

There was a similar thing about 10 years ago with a couple of the Scandanavian teams, can't remember exactly who but let's say Sweden and Norway where they played each other in the last game and a quirk of goal difference / goals scored / teams results against each other deciding who progressed meant that a draw would see both qualify for the next round.
However it was more specific than that as it needed to be a 2-2 draw which would normally be around 14/1 or 16/1 but it was backed down to about 4/1 or 5/1 by the time I looked, guess what the final result was  :drinks:

Apparently while the Scandanavian countries do have competition between each other they are also quite friendly so if Sweden get knocked out their fans switch to Norway or Denmark to cheer on if they are still in it.
Can you imagine the same scenario between England and Scotland or England and Wales  :unknown:
Both sides would be doing their level best not only to win but bragging rights that they knocked the old enemy out of the competition   :drinks:

This might be why there have been murmurings this week about relaxing foreign travel a bit with Covid passports, because there would be outrage at letting UEFA VIPs come in without isolating but still not letting any UK residents go abroad without isolating on return.

Sweden Vs Slovakia is crap, let's hope the 2nd half improves  :(

So it's the Big One tonight England Vs Scotland, what's everyone's predictions  :unknown:

I can see it being cagey in the 1st half 0-0 at half time then England getting a goal after about 65 minutes and a 2nd in the last 10 minutes on the break as Scotland push forward for an equaliser and get caught on the break

England 2-0 a repeat of Euro 96

I am with you tonight England to win and by 2.  First halves are usually pants and I can see this England v Scotland match being a passionate and frantic affair in the first half and then ... hopefully .. England's class showing in the second as we score 2.  BUT I don't think it will easy for us.

I have a hunch that Croatia are actually quite shit and England's 1-0 win is quite a duff result. Conversely I think Czechs are far better than given credit for so Scotlands 0-2 defeat isn't so bad. I think I'm saying that I suspect tonight's game will be tighter than the opening results might suggest. I suppose we'll get a pointer from the 5pm game between Croatia and Czechs....

Yeah i'm having to break my normal rules betting on England 2-0 at about 5/1 and 3-0 is only about 8/1, basically they don't expect Scotland to score as England are so odds on to win the game at 1/3

11/1 on 3-1 looks to be fairly normal but you can currently get 15.5/1 with Betfair, not sure if you have online accounts or just pop into the local bookies but try comparing odds on everything using oddschecker

99% of my bets these days are with Betfair exchange and despite the 2% commission on net winnings it's still better value than most high street bookies, I recon the odds I get using BF are about 10% better than I could get with a traditional bookie

Nobody seems to have realised England have now qualified for next round..

They cannot finish lower than third in this group and only two 3rd place teams are going home. Given there already 3 teams that can only get 3 pts max, England with 4pts are through.

Hmm, what do you say?

A very lacklustre, risk-averse performance where England were void of any progressive play. A lack of intensity within every facet of the game. Fair play to Scotland though. Steve Clarke certainly won the tactical duel, which says something in itself.

Kane's form, or lack thereof, is also a side issue. In his defence, the service to him was non-existent, but he does appear somewhat unfit.

This sticks in my throat but England needed a Milner or a Henderson out there..... the promising youngsters were simply overawed and buckled under the pressure.

They need to leave Kane and Sterling on the bench for the next game, Kane's head isn't in the game, too busy thinking about his big money move to City, Sterling being weighed down by his MBE  :sarcastic: :sarcastic:

This is how I see Tue final group round, if Scotland plays as they did tonight, think they can beat Croatia

Scotland v Croatia                2 - 0  Scotland in second place, and England in Third
England v Czech Republic      0 - 1  Czech Republic in first place

Online mr.bluesky

What is worrying about this England team is the lack of goals in them. Harry Kane and Sterling haven't really got going yet. Defensively they look sound . Not a big fan of Jack Grealish but he made a big difference when he came on as a substitute in a team that struggled to break down Scotland. Croatia look a poor team compared  to the one that reached the World Cup Final 3 years ago. If Scotland play like they did tonight they could beat them but a draw is a likely outcome imo. I predict
England 1: 1 Czech Republic
Scotland 1:1 Croatia

1st. Czech Republic 5pts
2nd. England             5pts
3rd.Croatia                 2pts
4th. Scotland             2pts

I don't think so. The main issue was a lack of creativity, so I'm not sure how a Henderson or a Milner helps in that department. Saying that though, a fit Henderson would likely provide some intensity that was evidently missing tonight. There was something tactically that just wasn't quite right. In such a game where you are expected to have the majority of the ball, I'm not sure there is such a need for both Rice and Phillips. There is nohing wrong with having youngsters - remember, many of them have played in Champions League finals, so I doubt they will become overawed - but you have to provide them with a platform where they can express themselves, and, to me, that currently does not seem to be the case.
