I really don’t see why so many punters are getting their knickers in a twist. If my daughter, sister, mother, friend was an escort I’d want them to be as safe as possible and use every bit of information to do so. It can be an incredibly risky and dangerous profession and literally their lives can be at stake. Whereas for a punter, in the vast majority of cases, they might just have a bad punt.
Women are the weaker sex (physically) and escorts put themselves in a risky situation every single day they work. Not to mentions the huge amount or misogyny and superior attitudes of many men (and society in general) towards sex workers, who see them as second class citizens. I’d much rather they don’t see someone who is in fact fine but has a false report than them not having these tools to hand to weed out some seriously nasty punters. Better safe than sorry.
I think far too many punters are only looking through their own eyes - what if I’m wrongly reported and I don’t get a punt? Big bloody deal. It’s not as if anyone knows who you are personally. It’s not like you’re going to appear on the BBC news. Just swallow your pride and your battered punting reputation and get on with it.
Every reporting system is flawed, ukp included. I know loads of escorts who’ve said that their reviews are nothing like the truth (positives, as well as negatives). But look at the consequences for each party and weigh up who’s going to come out worse if it goes wrong.
