we need a smacked botty icon !
What we don't need is a separate thread for every different advert someone doesn't like.   :dash:

Offline StingRay

I understand your frustration, it's a bit like when someone starts a new thread instead of posting on the already running 7 page one on the very same subject.  :hi:

https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=299964.300

I went to the old thread but was prompted to consider a new one as it had been inactive for 3 months!

What prompted you to start a new one?? because it was posted on regularly up to 2nd June this year then again today.    :unknown:
Those Admiral cartoon ads showing turkey falling from a balloon and destroying a car - but its Ok the insurance will cover it - no mention of the increased premium next year of course.
Shows that they cover idiots - suppose that is the market they are after

As I said, I got an auto prompt from the site to consider a new thread since the one that I found from a search had, apparently, no activity for 3 months. Maybe, god forbid, there are 2 threads or the prompt was wrong?

Please move my post if you consider it necessary. Thank you.

I was going to move it anyway but all you are doing is creating unnecessary work.

Phillip Schofield and Ryland Ads. Both crap and creepy. Also Weetabix 3 Little Pigs - what's with the camp voiceover, no Mel Blanc that's for sure.

I'd have to agree on the schofield and ryland ads. Not seen the weetabix ad, but I'll take your word for it.

I love the Tex Avery Looney Tunes cartoons which is why it's so annoying; it's just why that voice actor. Imagine how much better it would be with Ralph Ineson voicing it.

Back when you made this comment I'd have rolled my eyes and left it at that.

Now whole heartedly agree, it's so embarrassing for all concerned.

Back to topic, probably the only white middle aged man on adverts now is also the most irritating.

"Oo are you again?"
"Ow many millions?"
"Bloimey!"

Offline StingRay

Said it before, but a different advert this time - how can a global bank such as santander use such a stupid advert with that pair of unfunny, untalented tossers? Does this really make people want to open an account?  :dash:

Virgin Airlines it winds me up so much I turn the sound off when it's on which is a lot when you watch BT sport.
Wokeness at it's worst and tells you nothing about their airline and they have a great Upper Class service,I'm almost tempted to boycott that.

Was about to post the same thing.

Cancelled all direct debits to charities after looking up the address, how much the CEO is paid and how much they spend on TV advertising.

If the CEO donates a years salary I may change my mind

Taking the advice of @KingTarazan , Charity begins at home and donating time, and money, to people I know and the feeling is good.
Our own elderly are neglected, putting a little smile on a face is something a direct debit cannot give you.

All adverts (except maybe beautifully made perfume adverts with someone like Charlize Theron wafting about), all adverts suck. Especially ones at INCREASED VOLUME and ones completely inappropriate to the programme being interrupted, including BBC’s long adverts for its own material, and IMDb’s adverts for other fucking films before showing a mere trailer of a movie of interest.

The only relief comes from either VPN-ing an American show — which provides different adverts, mostly breezily advertised wonder drugs with a quickly recited long list of ‘side effects’ including death, or fantastic offers on how to become obese in some American diner.

A weak version is switching to a lesser-known ITV channel which has cheap-as-chips adverts with hilarious lack of polish.

(‘Ad’ comes from Latin advertere — to turn away towards something else — eg fetch popcorn, cup of coffee, anything to escape the subliminal programming being thrust at you to destroy any possible suspension of disbelief in what you wanted to watch.

It still annoys me when a lively discussion is cut short "as we have run out of time" and we then have 2 minutes of trailers for future programs before the  next programme

At least we no longer have sport matches which run into extra time cut off to be followed by trailers on the BBC which was common only a few years ago

I suppose it's a way of saying "we have to charge you for this service over and above your license fee, but can't, so advertisers are paying it for you" or "we have to justify our existence by trying to persuade you to watch more programmes to 'justify' the license fee".

That Charlize Theron one gets me every time, cuts away just before she stands up naked. Nanoseconds in it.

However after specifically looking out for equality of representation in ads for a few years since it was previously mentioned on here i've come to the conclusion that we are under represented

Its that tome of year again
A few ads for sales
quite a few ads for holidays - suppose we will see more of them in the next few weeks

and today I saw the first ad for one of these magazines where you get bits each week/month to build a scale model
This one was for a Batman tumbler car and the first issue is only £1.99 but in the small print you will need to buy 120 issues to complete it and the price of the other issues is £10.99 each - thats £1.3k ! - oh it helpfully tells you that batteries arent included !
If anyone completes the model (does anyone?) I doubt if they would get £30 for it
