From just £36 per year
Not surprising his death wasn't big news - he only played on the first two singles before he got kicked out. You'd have to be a big Small Faces / sixties music fan to even recognise the name.
Who, never heard of Jimmy Winston, but have heard of Small Faces
It's quite unsurprising really, given that he was kicked out before they hit the big time. No doubt he would get a write-up in Record Mirror back in the day but utterly forgotten now.I had a look earlier and he's best remembered for this pysch-pop obscure record: External Link/Members OnlyKenney Jones the only surviving member now. Ian McLagan's 2014 death was more recorded for his time backing up Rod than with the Small Faces:External Link/Members Only
So nobody knows which band Steve Brookes was an original member of?
I'm not doubting that, but I found out by accident viewing IMDb. Given the huge influence of the faces on bands like Blur, Oasis and The Jam you would have thought something would be written on BBC news at the least. Glen Matlock allegedly never recorded the original never mind the bollicks apart from being credited with one track, but I would expect him to have a press obituary.
