I guess in reality a Murder charge was never going to stick, but dear God, please let them get the toughest possible Manslaughter terms in jail.

Truly heartbreaking to hear audio on the TV News, of PC Harper telling Control that he was going in to investigate anyway, even though there was a report that they were armed. Salt of the earth copper who'd only just got married. Footage also shown, of two of the lads laughing as they left a preliminary hearing at Court. No remorse shown, whatever, at any point, from any of the three. And while we would never wish to pre-judge any particular group, worth noting that back at the caravan site, friends/family members of these filth were intent on trying to intimidate Jury members .

One would also hope that these pieces of shit (there really is no other suitable term) get the holy crap kicked out of them on the inside.

Sorry if this all sounds a bit harsh, I needed to vent  :(.

No need to apologise WW. Unfortunately these feral cunts and their lovely kith an kin won't give a flying fuck as they live to a different code than the rest of civilised society.

I doubt they'll get a kicking in prison as they'll probably either be celebrated as heroes by the sort of scumbags who think injuring or killing a Police Officer is a badge of honour, or be protected as I suspect they know some pretty unpleasant people?

I feel absolutely gutted for the family, friends and colleaugues who weill have to pick up the pieces. :(

You can trust me on this, I'm a nice guy...yes, really (:P), but with an attitude like those guys have I would happily take a baseball bat to their legs and give them some life-changing injuries.

For that to happen, and for them not to give a flying fuck afterwards, is pure evil.

People like that exist unfortunately WW.  :( I can vividly recall a Police dog handler being beaten so severely by a gang of feral teenagers on my childhood estate that he was in a coma for 6 months.  :( Nobody got charged for it as well.

As you say Winky, the lack of remorse shown by these f**kers is what really makes my blood boil. I don't know where we are headed as a society, it just seems like a downward spiral at the moment.

Twats like these choose to live outside society and ignore its norms and standards. As such they should be stripped of all benefits of citizenship and placed in internment camps for life. If they don't want to live by our morals, then fuck them, they should have no rights

Offline redveee

Given that they've only been convicted of manslaughter unfortunately I can't see the sentence being much over ten years, I do hope I'm wrong and they go down for a long time. A lot of cases where a car has been the 'weapon', the culprit has got off very lightly in comparison to other weapons, sometimes no punishemnt at all.

If they got a life sentence they would then once released from prison be on life licence so could be recalled to prison if they broke the law again, that's the best case scenario now in my view as they wont get what they should of got which is done for Murder with a whole life tariff given.

Cant believe some of the terms being used to describe this misunderstood minority.  Cherie Blair worked hard to have them recognised as a minority and give them special status.  Without that they might have reduced in numbers by now, but the population of them is booming since they all have millions of kids.  Apparently blatant theivery is a unique way of life that needed protecting in case it died out.

I grew up a couple of miles from one of these camps, and it was nothing but trouble, and even 30 years ago the police were scared to go into the place to sort things out.  This was a council run halting site which was only busy a few weeks at a time.  So god only knows how hellish it must be living near one of the permanent camps.  At times our primary school population went from the normal 200 to about 230 with these feral kids, as long as they registered and did 2 weeks then they got clothes vouchers from the council, then you never seen them again.  If the feral kids ever thought they had been bullied then the parents or teenage siblings would come to school to batter some 8 year olds, mental.

A certain well known quote from the film “Snatch” comes to mind.

Films employ stunts like this car drag where the guy gets lose after being stabbed and shot and still saves day ...some people ( mostly those in film and game industry ) dont realise how fragile life is :( the events leading up to now shown were a mess inadequate police numbers and a solo officer standing in the dark trying to stop a car ..not safe .

The Trail for Murder brought by OPP against all  3 of them all was always going to be a emotionally charged event  :( :( The Driver had pleaded guilty to Manslaughter :unknown:

I heard a similar story about them setting up on a nice moorland recreation area, and were not very friendly to locals who wished to carry on walking their dogs, jogging and exercising. Cue local farmers fertilising the land with fresh manure, and they moved on.

I used to work near a particularly notorious site which was used as part of a vehicle ringing operation.
I recall one lunchtime all hell broke loose when Police chased a stolen Range Rover and BMW 5 Series into the site.
Initially there were just two Police cars pursuing, but as things got a bit lairy this soon turned into 2x armed units 2x riot vans with coppers in full gear, dog units and the Police helicopter being deployed.  :scare:
Still no idea if anyone got caught?  :unknown:

From the press conference the spouse said she was shocked and disappointed at the verdict. I'm sure her legal adviser would have said that manslaughter was a likely outcome.

As for sentencing - Sadly, I suspect they will be out in a few years (3-5) as their legal team will put forward mitigations about age,   one pleaded guilty in advance and their racial group may play a part in their favour.
I hope to be proved wrong and they go to prison for 20 years.

I think the jury tampering should be investigated and those prosecuted. - They won't.

Sentencing for manslaughter
The harm caused by any offence that results in a death is immeasurable. The sentence is not a measure of the value put on the life of the victim.

The maximum sentence a judge can impose for manslaughter is imprisonment for life.

The judge may impose other sentences, including a prison sentence to be served immediately, suspended imprisonment or a community sentence

If the offender is assessed as dangerous the judge may pass either a life sentence or an extended sentence of imprisonment to protect the public.

No aggro in the story I heard. The farmers sprayed the land in the middle of the night, so when the Travellers woke up everything was covered in shit. Farmers said they didn't see them because it was dark.  :D

The smiling and laughing at their court appearance is what really gets me. Maybe the pair in the photos in the link below thought that it was nothing to do with them because their mate was driving the car. There's certainly zero remorse about their involvement. Its a near certainty that their criminal career will continue after their release. I hope that they burgle the wrong house and get blown away.  :)

It's not thieving it's grifting. Ask any gypsy.

You've reminded me of something you don't see anymore and that's kids coming to school with holes in their shoes or trousers two sizes to small. I knew one boy and he had to have a skinhead because his family could only afford two haircuts a year. These weren't gypsies, but you don't see that level of poverty anymore.

Yes he did. Unfortunately for him he did it with an illegal firearm (something which he had form for before) which he used to shoot one of the burglars in the back, resulting in them dying.

Seems it was also premeditated, he was waiting for them in a dark house with a gun.

I had some sympathy for him. He'd been burgled 10 times previously, and they vandalised and generally trashed his place when he was out. Their motivation was jealously that he had money and they didn't.

I have some sympathy with him, but you can’t set your self up as judge, jury and executioner and hope to get way with premeditated murder.

Exactly this. I know that area reasonably well as I worked  very close by for a while.
It's rural,  but not in a picturesque way and is  incredibly isolated and bleak. Forget having a phone signal or any reliable Internet connection
The locals are-shall we say-different  and a pretty hostile, narrow minded and insular bunch. Think of every stereotype of Norfolk and most of  it would be pretty accurate
It was bad enough being a southerner-- fuck knows what someone BAME would've experienced  :unknown:
I've worked and lived in some pretty edgy locations, but that was the one place I found genuinely unsettling.
To sum up you're pretty much on your own and it's a little bit of a wild west atmosphere TBH.
Thank fuck my conract ended and I could come back to civilisation.

One of the burglars had something like 22 previous convictions. Last I read he had been charged for drug dealing. I disagree with this, they may have said that, but let's be honest they saw him as an easy target and had previously "cased the joint" and went back to finish what they had started.

These fucked-up feral kids were hardly 'police-killers' (as if there could be any kind of cachet attached to that). They were driving away to try and escape and their tow-rope got inadvertently looped around the poor copper's legs. They were shitty little cowards (and no doubt, still are shitty little cowards).

I think everyone (including the judge) is very aware that the whole of the UK is keen to see what kind of sentencing gets handed down to these lowlife scum, so hopefully it'll be the absolute maximum allowable. I do believe that the complete lack of remorse apparently shown here, can also be taken into account?
