Isn't that the whole point of the site? Also annoys me that the payment processors get to decide what content is allowed. Are they the self appointed morality police or something? They should just stick to simply processing payments - so long as it isn't illegal or results in high charge back rates why should they care?

Two words: child porn.

OnlyFans had 14 CyberTipline Reports, they deactivated 15 accounts for alleged CSAM but only contributed 1 hash to the NCMEC database, so not sure what relevance this has to them blocking sexually explicit photos and videos when nude photos and videos are still allowed.   :unknown:

As many London punters know I predicted punting to dry up due to Onlyfans. I was constantly complaining about simps getting hustled on onlyfans.

As onlyfans adult content is coming to an end. How do you think this will effect the punting market?

I know there will be new platforms for the girls to keep going but the apex of onlyfans adult content was in 2020.

Thoughts please.

There might be a short term stimulus for the punting market but there are other factors involved (Brexit, COVID) and, as you call out, there are other platforms for SPs to distribute explicit content. The last 18 months or so has shown that there are new ways for sex workers to earn cash and there seems to be an appetite for it. I don't expect that to change but there might be a rebalancing in the ways SPs can earn.

Offline estats

There is no doubt OF was one of several inflationary factors in pricing. The decision it has made to ban explicit content from its market dominant position would seem to place some deflationary pressures on the escorting market.

However, I'm sure there are other adult sites ready to offer a similar platform. I don't know enough about the terms, margins and business model of OF or others in that sphere to judge a long term impact. But if payment operators did indeed pressure OF into the decision they made, you would think that position wouldn't change on the next operator.

There is of course the government online safety bill which floats away in the background which may disrupt many areas of this.

So, Onlyfans is in the news today for announcing it is stopping explicit content (although it will allow nudity).

External Link/Members Only

But behind the headlines the reason they are doing it is a change in it's rules by Mastercard annouced in April that covers ALL adult content.

External Link/Members Only

Well, we all (well 99%) use a particular adult site or two which currently hosts a lot of adult content.....

I wonder what they'll do? It's not as if their verification processes are very good currently. Once a profile is up, it can be exploited freely, as we all know.

Will they have to improve them?

What about exisiting content? Take a Pornhub approach and demand verifications and shut down any that can't?

Or will they take the Onlyfans route? Tasteful nudity only. What will that do to their revenues?

What will it do to the revenues of the honest WGs on here?

Or just drop credit cards as a means of payment altogether?

I'm speculating of course, but it'll be one to watch.

Offline Name Not Found

So it seems like pressure from its payment processors and a BBC investigation has forced OF's hand and they are going to remove all their porn content in a few weeks time.

Seem like a lot of girls have switched their efforts from escorting to OF over the pandemic period, so might this encourage them to go back to in-person meets? Can we expect an improvement in the availability of some girls, or maybe even some new ones starting to work as escorts if their online activities are curtailed? My initial thought was that they would just move from OF to a similar service somewhere else, but surely any new service would come under the same pressures from the banks and media?

There's going to be a lot of lost income for the escorts that shifted their work more towards that platform.
I wonder what it will do to the escort prices.

Even though competitors will save some girls this may be down to pressure from the Banks.
If it's pressure from the banks we could see a new golden era in punting for the next few years.

Maybe OF reckon that getting rid of the porny stuff will make the platform more agreeable to the likes of Kerry Katona and they'll end up making more money off famous ladies doing "Page Three" sort of glamour content?

If they go anywhere else, won't the payment companies have issue there too?

Offline PunterNumber69

Different payment companies.  Payment companies are funny about handling payments for adult services.

Payment companies obviously make money from people selling sexual content e.g. porn DVDs, magazines, etc. but they don't like the negative publicity that's associated with it as it scares some of their investors such as Churches, etc., so they are fine with taking the money provided it's not obvious to everyone that they're doing it and they can deny knowledge of it.  For example, PP won't allow you to pay for adult services using them, but companies like Epoch are used by porn sites and Epoch takes PP, so in effect you can pay for adult services using PP.  You, the customer, just end up paying more as the middleman takes a payment for providing their service.

Sites like OF could do more to stop underage sellers and illegal content, but it's hardwork and they carry a legal liability by hosting such content, so they've decided to ban it. They may have shot themselves in the foot though. Time will tell.

Offline Iceman90

Excellent news. Can’t stand OF. Anyone buying ‘content’ on there is an absolute muppet. Maybe these girls who will lose income will get into escorting and start providing a real service for their money.

The credit card companies also suffer from having to honour chargebacks, as they are jointly responsible with the supplier for the product being as described.  Given many sex workers' tendency to over promise and under deliver there will be a lot of horny broke guys who want to get their money back.

OnlyFans are only concerned about their IPO and that is affected by their reputation which clearly now includes being shit at moderating the legality of their content, making them subject to law enforcement interest and subsequent prosecution and censure.

Now if only cryptos were subjected to the regulatory pasting they deserve we might get back to a more "honest and humble" sex industry...

AFAIK this policy change does NOT mean there will be no nudity/sexual content on the site they are basically saying you can't post anything like rape, bestiality, sexual assault etc.

Nothing will change in the grand scheme of things; OF will still be full of women selling nudes.

From Bloomberg: Starting in October, the company will prohibit creators from posting material with sexually explicit conduct on its website, which many sex workers use to sell fans explicit content. They’ll still be allowed to put up nude photos and videos, provided they’re consistent with OnlyFans’ policy, the company said Thursday.

A little broader than bestiality and rape I think? Time will tell.

I have ran an adult site for a few years now. When i first saw Onlyfans and their business model i thought that will never work as people wont pay for porn anymore. Fair play to them they actually made it far more popular and profitable than many folk thought possible. Bitcoin could be a big player in terms of a payment gateway for adult but its not mainstream enough for the general public. Paypal wont touch adult which is ironic cause they allowed porn at the beginning and were always hanging around the porn conventions begging site owners to use their platform. Fuckers. Adultwork should be all over this offering a similar subscription model instead of simply purchasing pics/vids. Anyway, its only a matter of time before Onlyfans ban nudity completely

Offline PunterNumber69

Apparently AdmireMe, which doesn't allow chargebacks which to me sounds impossible as that's not how payment cards work. If you try to not allow chargebacks, then you'll probably end up having your ability to teke payment cards withdrawn. Usually chargebacks involve your payment card company refunding you immediately and then the payment provider recovers the refunded costs from the company you bought from.

Offline PunterNumber69

According to AdmireMe Ts and Cs you can still make chargebacks but they try to make it possible for them to recover them from you separately:

admireme.vip/terms-conditions/

"13.    Fees - Followers

13.1  The fees in respect of AdmireMe.vip services will be as set out on the website from time to time.

13.2  All amounts stated in these terms and conditions or on AdmireMe.vip are stated exclusive of VAT.

13.3  You must pay to us the fees in respect of AdmireMe.vip services in advance, in cleared funds, in accordance with any instructions on AdmireMe.vip.

13.4  We may vary fees from time to time by posting new fees on AdmireMe.vip, but this will not affect fees for services that have been previously paid.

13.5  If you dispute any payment made to us, you must contact us immediately and provide full details of your claim.

13.6  If you make an unjustified credit card, debit card or other charge-back then you will be liable to pay us, within [7 days] following the date of our written request:

(a)    an amount equal to the amount of the charge-back;

(b)    all third party expenses incurred by us in relation to the charge-back (including charges made by our or your bank or payment processor or card issuer);

(c)    an administration fee of GBP 25.00 including VAT; and

(d)    all our reasonable costs, losses and expenses incurred in recovering the amounts referred to in this Section 13.6 (including without limitation legal fees and debt collection fees),

and for the avoidance of doubt, if you fail to recognise or fail to remember the source of an entry on your card statement or other financial statement, and make a charge-back as a result, this will constitute an unjustified charge-back for the purposes of this Section 13.6.

13.7  If you owe us any amount under or relating to these terms and conditions, we may suspend or withdraw the provision of services to you.

13.8  We may at any time set off any amount that you owe to us against any amount that we owe to you, by sending you written notice of the set-off."

It comes down to defining what "unjustified" means. All the Ts and Cs are just scare tactics to put people off doing chargebacks and I think they'd struggle in a court of law.

The LAW says you can't post material of that nature, OF have been caught not abiding by the laws they claim they obey.  The revelations about supposed policy, if true, show that the company has been actively not complying with the laws in a timely or moral manner.

Tumblr (and perhaps DeviantArt) has gone through a similar evolution and appears to be a shadow of it's former self after other sites  "benefited" from the explicit content it banned.

I don't know why else OF would be a chosen platform for a content creator vis-a-vis YouTube, Patreon, etc but given OF's infamy for it's hosting of sexual content it seems to have done all it can to make it easy to publish that material.

We'll have to wait and see but I bet nothing much will change.

Twitch, a streaming platform, also has a policy of no sexually suggestive content yet there are countless women who use the place as basically a softcore porn site and the company turns a blind eye. I imagine OF will do much the same.

If they do actually ban all nude content then people will just jump to a different platform. Nothing will change in the grand scheme of things.

Nude - me standing naked in non-sexual pose

Explicit - me standing with an erection and a 12" dildo up me bum.

I suspect their hand could have been near the point of getting forced. Credit clearance houses don’t like to be associated with schemes that have vociferous virtue-signalling opponents. Cryptocurrency would be a harder sell.

The adult industry also has a higher chargeback rate than others and I suspect it's difficult to provide evidence that supports the seller, so they lose most of the time, so the seller makes a loss on the transaction due to the chargeback fee.
