Is that really the case?
Yup.
Why do you think it is?
It's complex & multi causal. I'll just sketch the reasons briefly for now, if you're interested in a long read with links let me know & I might write in more detail later. (no promises though, writing good long posts is hard work at my age...)
Reasons why scoring with civies is now harder for most young men include the advancement of so called "gender equality" & dating platforms . The fact that young women now earn more on average than young men (at least in UK) mean's they're less likely to hook up with someone they're not sexually attracted to just to be financially supported. The rise of Tinder & the rest means women are relatively free from older spatial constraints, allowing them to act on their preference to hook up with the most attractive men rather than settle with someone from the much smaller group of males they meet in regular life.
The underlying reasons why 'social progress' & platforms are effecting young men differently than women relate to gender differences in sexual selection, especially phenomena like 'sexual disgust'. While there's many exceptions, women's higher average sexual disgust means they're less likely to desire sex with someone with only average looks.
There's extreme versions of this sort of thinking out on the net that claims women can only be motivated to have sex by money or model class looks. That's false, the old sayings about love being a mysterious thing are partly true, couples sometimes 'click' due to compatible personalities etc.
But a lad's looks are definitely more important for dating than they were a few decades back - anyone who denies this is opinionated & not in touch with how the world's changed.
