The PM has said everyone in the UK should avoid "non-essential" travel and contact with others to curb coronavirus

Seems pretty clear, unequivocal and easy to understand. Presume he's had to spell it out in simple terms for the "hard of thinking"?

Unfortunately there will still be scum out there who refuse to see how it applies to them but the subtext to his announcements today is that although he wants the public to "self-regulate", next week legislation is being published to give powers to the police and other authorities to physically intervene and deal with anyone not complying with the requirements. Unclear what that means at this juncture but it appears to revolve around physically moving or removing anyone from situations that contravene the above advice.

So BTP will be challenging every traveller to prove their journey is justified?  Good luck with that.  "Sorry officer, I'm using public transport to visit my elderly dependents who may need me to get some shopping in and help around the home.  I didn't drive because I'm not being paid and had to give up the car lease along with Amazon Prime memberships, Netflix, Sky and a ton of other subscription luxuries and I'm hoping the bank weren't lying when they said I'm okay about my mortgage for a few months."

No pub, no football, no punting. Some people live perfectly fulfilling lives without any of that. How?

TikTok
Being an "influencer".
Selected reading from the entire collection of human authorship, in print or online.
Playing their songs and renditions on YouTube and SoundCloud and getting paid.
Tinkering in the shed and fabricating something useful that may just be commercially successful.
Building their own home for a fraction of the extortion being perpetrated in the built housing market.
Playing around with CRISPR and discovering immortality.
Larking about with teledildonics and VR porn and cumming over the dog.

For those of us who are single and don't have overly clingy friends and relations with proximal contacts to vulnerable persons, now's the time to tee up some "exclusive" negotiated arrangements with regulars, favourites or tame SPs during the fallow period.
Well I'm single, I live on my own, I don't have close contact with anyone vulnerable, (apart from myself) yet it seems it's wrong for me to punt.  :unknown:

Au contraire, with imposed confinement with others who drive you potty then there should be a multitude of easy excuses for going out:

1) I don't want to see your lips flapping any more.
2) I don't want to hear your constant moaning.
3) I need some fresh air, going for a jog, will be home later all smelly and sweaty.
4) I going to see if I can get some toilet paper, I may be some time.
5) If I stay in with you any longer I'll murder you.
6) I love you darling but if I hear any more whining from those kids I will take them to the bridge in a bag.
7) Taking the dog for a long walk
8) going for a round of golf on my own
9) Going for a drive.
etc.

Or,

10) I’ve got a meeting with a whore, darling. If I have to be stuck with a tight cunt then it might as well be a tight cunt I enjoy!

As I understand it, if you catch it DM and need hospital care then along with the expected spike of others at high risk needing hospital care, the potential risk the Government are highlighting is that the health service will not be able to cope and meet the needs of everyone.

Best wishes whatever you decide.

If you are in the high risk group,  there is a much higher likelihood that you will need a hospital bed if you have the virus. If too many hospital beds are occupied by people with Covid-19, then there will not be beds/ventilators etc. for people suffering from other life threatening ailments.

If you avoidably infect yourself,  you may deny life saving care to others who need it.

In answer to your question,  you are putting the life of anyone who needs critical care at risk,  if you unnecessarily need health care resources that could otherwise save someone else's life.

You've hit the nail on the head there, the only person I could possibly put at risk is me and I know me.

Now before anybody says anything I know there's a first time for everything and this COVID-19 is new, but so were the 3 viral pandemics and 2 viral epidemics since the 1950's that didn't affect me. I have never been prone to viral infections, I haven't had a cold since I was a child and I've never had flu.

Now if you want to talk about bacterial infections, I know all about those, I've had plenty. I was even in hospital for 2 1/2 days with pneumonia once.  :(

So all things considered I don't think I'm taking a great risk by having close contact with one person in an area where there are only 3 confirmed cases out of a population in excess of 206,000.

Isn't there a chance you could contract the virus before you visit the SP (but before the symptoms are showing) - thereby putting both the girl and her other clients that day at risk?

Anyone could be at risk, anyone. You see someone in the days after, buy some food, go to the chemist and bang.  Or conversely you pick up the virus in the days before your punt and you infect her then all her other customers.

As you say, you are in the at risk category, she passes the virus to you. Because you are at risk you may need hospital treatment taking up a bed that could of alternatively gone to another. That could cause a death.

All of this is very real. No one is hard of hearing and no one is showing a total lack of understanding of your posts. What I see is lots of posters all knowing you are wrong.  You are determined to go against the medical experts, against the scientific experts and against the Prime Minister just so you can shag a whore

Hopefully this time, that was clear enough for you to see you are totally wrong in your attitude on this.

So far I've stayed out of this bun fight, however my thinking as I see it is this;

This year in any 2 week period I've seen 3 SPs. Supposing I had CV19 and this had transmitted to these 3 girls. These 3 girls in turn would be seeing some 6-7 punters a day. Lets say they offer services 5 days a week so thats 10 days and 6 guys a day. So we now have 180 guys potentially infected and the increase from there is exponential.  If I hadn't punted in the first place these 180 guys would not have contracted the virus. This is why everyone is saying you shouldnt be punting Davemac. You could go 2 weeks before its identified you are a carrier.
You are a switched on guy- surely you see my reasoning as to why we shouldnt be punting. Once this gets into the punting community it will spread like wild fire, it simply will do.

If you are in one of the shielded group, then clearly your health is vulnerable. Hopefully you wont contract CV19, indeed hopefully none of us will. Two of my friends have- I've not seen then for some time so currently I'm ok. But they are have a dreadful time.

I have no doubt Daviemac you will do as you say you will and carry on. I have one question for you - If you are unlucky enough to get CV19 will you let the forum know?

Today I've just had to suspend my business, guts me to do it. Its going to cost me..a lot. However its going to cost us all, one way or another. Its important that we as individuals do the right thing for the larger community. We  cant operate in silos, ignoring the current crisis, its here, its on our doorstep, its not going away. We all have to do the right thing if we are going to defeat this CV19.

Daviemac- stay safe mate. And no we wont fall out. MM

Cheers mate not falling out with anybody, however for various reasons I'm not the most prolific of punters just now and all this seems to be somewhat of an overreaction to me posting "Yes I am going to have a punt this coming week".

Yes I know I'm in the high risk group, every bloody year I get  letter, phone call and txt telling me to come in for my flu jab and every year I tell them the same, thanks but no thanks, I keep telling then to stop asking me but they can't they have to offer it. Now every year there are 100's of flu related deaths in this country, in fact I would guess there's been more flu deaths this winter than deaths from this virus, they just don't get reported.

The doc should understand this but the result of my Spirometry test gave a FEV1 value of 42% which is why I'm so at risk from flu, I just don't get it though. I've never had a viral infection for well over 50 years, I can spend all day in the company of as many people as you like who have colds and I will not get one myself and I don't see that changing any time soon.

Apart from anything else how unlucky would I have to be to pick one person out of 206,000 that has it.

Edit
Forgot I might not be able to tell you I have it I'll probably be dead, so if I disappear all of a sudden you know I was wrong.

Two issues have been raised in these recent posts. Firstly, whilst most of us don’t, I suspect, have the same libido as MrMatrix, his argument is a valid one and we should all, irrespective of age or perceived state of health, desist from punting immediately, as it will only help fuel the spread of the virus.

As to Daviemac’s question ‘who’s life is he putting in danger,’ he’s had the answer – it’s the life of the person who could have occupied the bed he takes up in the NHS if he becomes seriously infected.

Surely we all need to look to our social consciences and behave accordingly over the coming months?

You could go for a five minute walk, fill the car with petrol or go to your local and get infected and be blissfully unaware of it for a fortnight. You could then unknowingly infect any SP you are in intimate contact with, and the she infects her family, some of whom might be in the high-risk category and require hospital treatment. God forbid we end up like Italy where the medical profession is having to make an assessment on who lives and who dies because they do not have the facilities, and equipment, to treat everyone.

Ask yourself this, is a shag worth dying, in extreme pain, for?

Whatever you decide to do take care.

Everybody's assuming I'm going to get it either by visiting an escort once or contracting it by ignoring the recommendations of staying about 1m away from others. I may have a cavalier attitude to me catching it, that does not mean I ignore the advice given to avoid passing on any germs I may have come into contact with.

For years I have been more at risk from flu than most of you are at risk from this virus.

Based on current evidence, Covid-19 has the potential to kill more people and cause more hospitalisations than seasonal influenzas. However, it hasn’t done so yet, because so far it hasn’t spread as widely as seasonal flu.

Seasonal flu is still a major killer, which contributes to the rise in death rates during colder months, and to the overloading of medical systems in winter. Dr Suzanna McDonald, national programme lead for influenza at Public Health England, warned: “Whilst the flu is common, it can be deadly for older adults, very young children and people with underlying health conditions.”

While everyone is in a panic about the coronavirus (officially renamed COVID-19 by the World Health Organization), there's an even deadlier virus many people are forgetting about: the flu.

Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000.

The CDC also estimates that up to 31 million Americans have caught the flu this season, with 210,000 to 370,000 flu sufferers hospitalized because of the virus.

Flu is something I have been susceptible to for years, I have never had it in my life I do not have a flu jab ever, would I not be putting others at risk by taking up a bed should I ever get flu.  :unknown:

I am not prone to viral infections, I never have been, there is no reason why this one should be any different.

Do not tell me I'm not taking this seriously, I've already said I take all the recommended precautions, not to stop me getting it but to stop passing on any germs that I may have been in contact with.

Can I ask you what advice the health professional you have consulted gave you,   :unknown: I know what mine told me last Monday.

Why is it I've said nearly the same as anybody else, yet the only person you've had a pop at is me, and this is not the only post. It seems whenever I say anything you get wound up & have a pop.

All I said is that you may contract by just by going about your normal routine then during the incubation period give to some poor, unsuspecting SP, who passes it on to someone vulnerable.

You keep banging on about never having the flu jab and never having caught flu, great, you don't EVER want it, believe me. This Covid 19 is  far, far worse that the flu ever will be. There are Italian doctors struggling to deal with the pandemic, have noticed that the people affected, and dying, are getting younger and younger and this disease shows no signs of abating.

Do not tell me to wind my neck in.

How many times do I have to say it. I do not make decisions regarding my health lightly. I have looked into this and I am fully aware of the risks both this and flu pose, I research the consequences of any of my actions.

To be quite honest I'm now of the opinion that there's no wonder people are panic buying, if me having one punt causes this much of a reaction.   :dash:

Yes I said I will carry on punting, but at my normal rate, I did not say I would increase the frequencies of my punting. If anybody had bothered to have a look at my reviews they would see roughly at what frequency I do punt. There are a few repeat bookings in between the positives so they won't show but it does give an idea of how often I do punt.

You wonder why you think I have a pop at you, it's because for one you don't read and or understand what I post and you keep telling me what to do.

I have done research on this virus, I have done research on flu, I have recently had a review of my health and I have spoken to a health professional about the current situation.

Right, I am not 80, I'm not even 70 (yet) so what you are telling me to read is not relevant. I also really think you need to do some research on what the recommendations are to avoid getting infected with this as going about your everyday business (with the obvious care and precautions) is relatively low risk.

Any way as I've said I intend to carry on punting, but that is in the here and now, I am not predicting what will happen in the future, I do intend to have a punt either later this week or early next, depending on other commitments.

Given the fact I'm not prone to viral infections, there are only 3 confirmed cases in my area and I will be seeing one person out of a population of 206,000, I don't think the risk is that great.

BTW I've been dead once, have you.   :unknown:

I doubt any amount of punting will make your death a happy one.

True but it does effect older people more especially if they have underlying health issues. If you you are fit and in general good health catching corona virus would be unpleasant but not fatal. I understand the  "youngest" person to reportedly  die from it in this country was 59 . The obvious risk is passing it on to others. ie old and vulnerable.  More likely to starve to death with all the idiots panic buying and emptying the supermarket shelves of food as I recently found on my recent visit to the supermarket. Right or wrong that's my take on the situation.

So far I've stayed out of this bun fight, however my thinking as I see it is this;

MM
While i understand the whole social responsibility arguement , meaning if we do anything to possibly spread the virus we are being socially irresponsible and risking the lives of ourselves and others. And its a great theoretical argument that renders me for one guilty because i still have to leave the house to go to work and mix with the general public and thereby risk catching and spreading the disease.
But that is the reality for most people , for most people life goes on as normal , the ideals of social responsibility and best practice just dont hold up in reality.
You will say but punting is not a necessity , but if its that critical for us not to punt how can it be acceptable that everyone still has to go to work breathing in other peoples potentially diseased air , you cant apply one standard to life in general and another standard to punting imho - so long as its safe enough and people are expected to go to work then its safe enough to punt.
Logically the vulnerable should protect themselves and those in contact with vulnerable people should be especially careful but like DM im not in touch with anyone especially vulnerable except for some over seventies at work.
Just seems out of touch with reality to me to expect people to stop punting out of some high principled insistance that we need to stop the spread of disease when we are spreading the disease for the rest of the time in just carrying on living our lives as normal - obviously MM has shut his business but most places life goes on as normal.

Interesting to notice that the London agencies are still ongoing (as far as i can tell); there must be quite a few punters still out there (and judging from the scale of the  London population is hardly a surprise).

Curious to see how long will it last...

You're all looking at this the wrong way.
Davies desire to ignore risk to himself doesn't matter
What does matter is the communal risk he poses to others by ignoring advice. If we all behaved as he intends then the infection won't be stopped.
We all have to reduce the communal risk, and that means behaving in accordance with the health guidelines. There is no room in this world at the moment for prima donnas who believe the rules don't apply to them.
What happens if we all decide to emulate Davie? People will die.

I suspect Davie may yet find his punting options limited or travel plans curbed on the basis of last night and this morning.

We all probably need to dial down alarmist statements on a public forums in light of a government which has just awarded itself sweeping powers to maintain public order and minimise the threat to life.  I'm not referring to this discussion specifically but any potential for it to escalate as there's plenty of social shaming elsewhere and probably a lot more of it to come.

Surely the bigger issue is if everyone keeps going to work , using public transport and going to the supermarket "the infection wont be stopped"
What rules are you refering to ?
Where is the rule that says its ok to use the underground but its not ok to punt. Most people cant work from home so if the rules are carry on going to work on the underground but dont punt thats ridiculous.

Remember rules are in place to protect the people who can afford to self isolate, work from home etc...
Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who like you say can’t afford to do this, shop workers, cleaners etc.

But fortunately the wealthy and privileged will be protected by minimising their risk of associating with them.

I am now convinced that davemac is just a stubborn old fool who is incapable of accepting he was wrong.
Dave from reading your frankly more and more bizarre reasoning in this, you are listening to respond and not listening to understand.
You started off with the sole defence of "no one can tell me what risk my punt has to others". I have since clearly explained some risks including you catching it from your punt, and taking up a hospital bed required by another very ill person.  I notice that you have deliberately ignored that point as it doesn't suit your agenda.
You have now moved your defence to "I assess the risks with my own health". Well clearly no you bloody don't.  You aren't intelligently assessing any risks if you want to stick your tongue into the mouth/fancy/arse of a whore who may have done that with countless others other the last two weeks. Any one of them could be a carrier of the disease that could kill you or someone else.

The country and indeed the world has a neee to come together and act sensibly as a collective, 99% of people on this thread seem to have grasped that and are refraining from punting to help themselves and others,  you are the outlier, what does that tell you? It tells me that it's high probability  that we are right and you are wrong.

I'll go one step further.  This forum is a superb ongoing source of advice and information for punters.  Right now that advice and information should be to withhold from punting until the virus is under control, as a moderator you should be at the front of that banging that drum not being the one with the most reckless and selfish attitude on the forum.

I was extremely concerned last week when the UK government appeared to adopt its 'laissez faire' strategy. I spoke with a family member at some length who works in the field of medical negligence. She was astonished. In order to create some kind of 'herd immunity' (in itself controversial and untried) the Government was willing to sacrifice a great many lives. The medico legal ramifications of that down the line were mindboggling.

One week on and there has been a complete reversal. As a result of this model External Link/Members Only it became obvious that not only would large numbers of people die from the virus, but the meltdown of the healthcare system would mean that people who would normally be expected to survive from many other illnesses, would also die. In total hundred's of thousands over the first wave of this virus.

You couldn't make it up really. So it is now panic stations to try and avoid that happening, but having wasted another week (not to mention the previous two months of apathy) can it be slowed down? I have my doubts? London is close to the brink.

The timing of the UK briefing yesterday in relation to the WHO one, was unfortunate for the Government. The WHO message was  "test, test, test" and highly critical of the West . Those few countries who have done so have controlled this far better. History will show we fucked up on this big style and wasted two months getting this in place .. not to mention sourcing ventilators.
The WHO also says people can remain infectious up to two weeks after symptoms have subsided making a farce of our 7 day quarantine.

If the change of direction works to reverse the catastrophic prediction (and that is a big 'if') then the downside is there may not be sufficient people with immunity to make return to 'normal' life possible, so you stay in some degree of lockdown waiting for a vaccine. Then there is the question of how long will immunity last? All the time there is the socio-economic consequences.

Yet some people still think it's no worse than flu. Fortunately that analogy has long since been dismissed by the world's healthcare authorities.

Kev, I get your point and you are right: some people are more privileged than others, and there is for sure inequality in all this. But let's not forget the elderly (who are the most vulnerable out there). We all have parents/grandparents we love and we ought to protect them by trying to act responsibly. Agree with Doc Holliday.
Boris thinks he's Winston Churchill but we know he's Bozo the clown. Flanked by two ventriloquists dummy's who change their bogus science every few days when they have a new SIM card inserted in their necks.

A bigger policy lead was taken by the FA and Professors Gary Linekar and Lewis Hamilton. Just takes the muppets a few days to catch up and pretend they didnt say what they said.

Watch Bozo today, will you ever see a clown more out of his depth? Its not gravitas its how the fuck should I know the answer. The wheels are well and truly off that particular trolley.

Any one want to make a ventilator?

Nothing learnt from Taiwan, South Korea, no herd immunity, isolation.

Depressing that we have such idiots in charge, feel sorry for the NHS staff who have to try and implement their so called plans.

This now getting totally rediculas, I live with the threat from viral infections every year, every year 100's of people die from flu and there is no cure for that either, at times the NHS get overstretched by this, but I am not one of the ones who takes up a bed.

Yes, this is very serious but I am one person, I take care of my personal health, I am going to see one person, there are others on this forum who have punted more since this thread started than I have in the past couple of months, or even would in the next couple under normal circumstances.

As things stand at the minute, if I fill up with fuel I wear gloves and as I do this on my way home I make sure I don't touch my face before washing my hands, likewise when I go shopping, I stand in the queue with the people that look fittest, not in the one where people are coughing this is because people who have the virus are most contagious when they’re showing symptoms. I also wash my hands as soon as I get home, I'm sure I don't need to go through all the precautions I take, most of which I take every year in any case and do I really need to post all the variations in the way this can be transmitted to show I know about and understand them.   :unknown:

As far as not listening to points that have been raised, I hear what people are saying about the risk I pose to others, that risk does depend on me actually having the virus though. Given my medical history of living through 3 viral pandemics and 2 viral epidemics along with the the very real threat posed by influenza every year and not having a cold since childhood, I would say the chance of me catching this virus a lower than those who are less fortunate and suffer colds and flu on a regular basis.

I am one person who would have close contact with one person, I do not have any regular close contact with anyone else. I presume those who are condemning me are in self isolation because it would be extremely hypocritical for those people to have more close contact with others than I do.

Anyway I'll leave this now and come back to it when it's all over and tell you I'm still here alive and well.

Edit

Forgot to say I don't see it as a moderators job to dictate how people live their lives or what they should or shouldn't do in this game.

It seems that a lot of people here are using this pandemic to take shots at a conservative government for the crime of being a conservative government. Breaking news, fools, the government is run by people and people make mistakes and change direction when new information arises. If the government has changed its plans for combatting the virus based on input from experts studying the data then that’s not something to be sniggered at. I congratulate them for taking a measured approach to the issue at hand! History will be the judge and I suspect it will be kind!

Really? Whose the fool? How many times has it been said over a number of years that our health service is underfunded and that there is a staffing shortage? So all those who work in bars etc get laid off to stop the health service getting over run. I think this part of history will change things and hopefully ensure health and social care is a priority.

Can you imagine what the situation will be like for many small business, self employed and entertainment business in the next few weeks?

That will affect many punters as well. As others have posted about shutting down, I will be losing a third of my income now. I will congratulate the government if they help those who will be in need with strong measures and help us all get through this but going forward, the lessons of underfunding etc have got to be learned.

Nothing to do with being a Conservative government, but to do with western governments unpreparedness to deal with this. Yes this is new uncharted territory for everyone, but some governments have learnt from history in terms of Sars etc.

History is already the judge. The medical profession has been pleading with the government for many weeks to at least test all healthcare workers. Gov't said not necessary, when what they really meant was they didn't have the capacity to do it. Then they did an almost 'off the cuff' U turn yesterday at the meeting when the WHO made their statement about "test, test, test".

We now have a situation where any patient admitted to hospital with symptoms is tested, but the people who look after them and who develop symptoms are not tested but told to stay away and isolate for 7 days compounding the whole meltdown problem.
