There is a punter who goes by the name of Horizontal Pleasure (HP) who at times give a gift during a punt.

Without wishing to speak for him, yes, a bar of dark chocolate and a punnet of strawberries if they're available. Probably no more than a fiver all-in, and for him it's part of the sensual experience and is likely to garner some goodwill from the WG.

Hardly an extravagance.

But its meaningful and it's a token of appreciation which is important. I think we all attach different meanings to the encounters we have with a service provider. I know it's not a dating service it's a transition of money and service.

There’s a distinction between bringing some that you can both enjoy during a punt and selecting a gift that is for a specific occasion (like Christmas).

It’s a transactional service (seeing an sp), just like it is paying an Uber driver to take you somewhere. I doubt many people buy their Uber driver a Christmas present

As I said, I have punted for 10 years, and gone through it all it seems. And at one stage got the dreaded EAS. And bought her Christmas gifts.

There is three ways you can learn what to do in punting. Do it and see the consequences. Or trust those who have been in the business longer. Or trust those who have done it and seen the consequences.

Any one of the three applies to the advice given to MetalGear

Ok point accepted that you had a bad experience and that colours your comments. Fair enough.

I still believe your comments covering all WGs were overly negative, knowing some reasonably well I believe gifts would be accepted as a nice token and no more.  Again not that I would encourage gifts but it is a personal choice.

Whilst I have not given gifts I have been punting many more than your 10 years and had a lot of regulars in that time.

I didn't say all. I said 99.99%. As there are good ones out there. They are just rarer than hen's teeth, or maybe better put rarer than unicorn's teeth. I have met good ones in my punting career. They exist. I have also been hit by lightning inside my punting career. And I think both are statistically equally likely.

Anth the problem is, finding those good ones is impossible and you are running a risk with little reward as if she is a good one, it won't matter if you buy her a gift. As in you don't need to.

If she is not a good one, it will matter if you buy her gifts, as in negatively affect things.

I have a bit of a lingerie fetish probably acquired from too many hours looking at the lingerie section of the kays catalogue in my teens, so yes I get off on a nice quality set of lingerie on a beautiful woman.  I like the choosing and buying process and then seeing how the girl looks in and out of it. It's fun for me.

I've never gotten to the stage of doing the lingerie shopping trip with an escort.  It's more of a fantasy.  I've never gotten into discussions with an SP about how payment for time spent on the shopping expedition would work.  I think it could be fun. Don't go giving him ideas 

However that’s another interesting topic from a statistical perspective. The number of punters posting on forums is a very small percentage of the total number of men who pay for sex. The same applies with SPs (probably and even smaller group).
They are also largely both 'specialist' groups. The punters being ‘hobbyists’ and the SPs may find forums useful as a business tool, or as a social media platform such as UKE (it can be a lonely occupation) or a protest group such as SAAFE.

You could argue that both these groups being a very small sample size, do not represent the reality of what actually goes on out there?

I have no doubt there will be a significant number of sex workers receiving Christmas gifts this year, as in previous years. I also think it is pointless activity, but that may not be the view of as large a majority of givers and receivers that this thread suggests?

No - they are WGs that you do not want to buy a gift for, if others do that is fine for them.  A gift freely given is made because it pleases the person making the gift, it is not in return for better sex.  (If it is made in expectation of better service I agree that in the vast majority of cases it is a waste of time.)  If it makes punters happy to give a gift that is fine for them.

I am also as I said before less cynical about the reaction that gift gets.  Yes sometimes (as you see on Saafe) they will just take the piss and think the punter is a fool.  But not all of them.  I remember seeing a regular years ago just before Xmas and her hotel room had various bottles of wine etc in it, all gifts from punters.  I thought two things - my god she has had a lot of cock today and I must be a tight bastard not getting a gift.  She however seemed genuinely pleased by the gifts - before giving me a fantastic shag regardless of my lack of gift!!!

It was a relief to me later when I found UKP and was reassured that many other punters do not buy gifts!!

I am not having odd issues. I am saying, don't buy WGs gifts as you will not get the response you think you will think you get from doing it.

You will get either one of, being taken for a mug forevermore and the service you get deteriorating. Or the girl just not wanting to accept bookings from you thinking you have EAS.

One of the issues I have had throughout my 10 years of punting is "third punt syndrome" by that I mean by the third punt the girl sees me as a total and utter soft touch and as a direct result the level of service from her drops off a cliff to absolute piss-take levels. This is not a rare thing, its the norm. I know why it happens. And I am giving tips to other punters to avoid it. And I get the hint metalgear would be similar in that eventuality as me.

You can think I am talking out of my backside. But my intentions are genuine making these warnings.

I can list the professional ones who don't do this, but its on one hand and with fingers to spare.
