I met 2 girls from Tinder/Badoo, one was stunning and as her profile.

The other I met was a "good girl", she was beautiful but we only had coffee, I invited her back to my digs but she was a good girl.  :)

:hi:

Good to see Tinder advice put to good use, for personal reasons I can't use this.

I hope for your sake that it's genuine that the girl that's actually picking you up from the Airport, and not some pimp/gang picking you up and then completely swindle you off all your money and belongings, before chucking you out of the car outside Cafe Elite  :scare:

Which makes this all the more exciting, right? I have been Marrakech before (Last year December) So I know whats going on around me. However then again you guys are right, ANYTHING could happen.
A quick question for you guys: are there any good activities for solo travellers to enjoy during the daytime other than punting/hammam etc?

Flights.
Stansted to Menara cost £165 roughly. Flight was 3 hours IIRC. But with travel, parking, security etc its was about 12 hours door to door.

Approx Costs during certain months.
For 22nd Dec to 29 Dec it cost me about £1800 all in IIRC.

Weather.
For Dec it was very pleasant in the day. Sunshine and clear skies. Cold at night though.

Arrange Transfers in Advance??
Either get the bus for 30dh return (Feb 2011) or avail yourself of Nikes contact to drive you in to Marrakech (up to you how much to tip)

Restaurants.
There is a good seafood restaurant directly south of Starbucks far down a side street. Hardly any westerners there. Sit yourself down, order, eat, then pay at counter on right hand side. Very reasonably priced and no dehli belly

Top floor of Montecristo is good fun as was Theatro (300Dh entry for Theatro with free drink on ticket).

If I was going again I'd go to clubs just to harvest numbers and try arranging meets in the afternoon. I didn't have any luck on the mile and I'd be very careful talking to single women if it isn't busy and/or late at night/early morning.

Unfortunately I can't afford to go to Marrakech this year.

Completely new here guys, registered after googling this page doing my research and one thing is for sure, a good contact is worth it weight in hold and that's all that's lacking at the moment.

We are 4 lads and we are going to spend most of our time in Marrakech. Hotel is booked but for girls purposes I think an apartment on the side is a must to avoid the police raid threat scam  :P

Booking online there is no guarentee what type of house owner we end up getting. We need a good guide and I'm sure  i'm in the right place.

*worth its weight in gold.

Bit more about myself. I am a British expat who now lives in Norway and the lads and I are in our early 30s. We got a good deal on the flights and hotel but I'm not sure. I can take the general hustlers but for the main things (joints and company)..Don't want to be wasting days on them.

Hi NM and welcome to the forum. When are you going to be in Marrakech?
Theres four of you... safety in numbers eh!?  ;)
I cant help you with contacts, sorry. But like the other guys here are always saying, join in the discussion and add something for us all and who knows what you might find.
How much did you pay for your flights for example? Where are you booked to stay and how long for etc?
Anyway, good luck with your trip. I hope you're successful in finding what you're after.

Wilson85, thanks for your contribution, great info there, esp about allowing for 12hours door to door. That's how long it took us as well.

Being a 6am flight from Stansted meant that we were awake all night in order to get to the airport for 3am check-in, had a couple of hours of sleep on the plane.

I made quite a few notes from tripadvisor, including a trip to the mountains.

However being out there for 4 days only and furthermore staying in a secluded villa with an outdoor pool meant that we never needed to go out AT ALL for 2 of those days. The aftenoons consisted of recovering from the antics of the previous night/early morning by lazing in the sun by the pool or skinny dipping in the pool with a few of the girls who remained with us throughout the day

Perhaps would consider these activities if I was staying for a longer period.

I guess I was a bit hasty with my requests. The more pages I get through the more I realise I hit the jackpot with this thread  :D

Big reason for choosin Marrakesh was the cheap flights, 900 Kroners (£75ish)return on Norwegian.

We're staying in the Opera Plaza near the train station. The apartment I just want for myself to be fair :p. We're there for 7 nights and I thought the weekend would be a good time for that.

The other days are going to be more about the normal holiday stuff, exploring, chillin etc..

I've got contacts in Agadir but I feel as though it's going to be a bit too quiet there for us (I could be wrong, I never been Morocco before).

Don't forget to also read the punting wiki guide to Morocco, which is still in its early stages.

Right guys, am not having much success in posting on the other thread, so have now posted in this thread.

I plan to post 1 topic every few days.

Would all those who have previously flown to Marrakesh or Tangier please post your experience for the above:

I flew in August, with Ryanair from stansted, flight just under 4hrs, cost was approx £200 return.
Ryanair also fly from Luton.

Ensure you carry a pen with you, that way you can fill out the Immigration cards whilst you are waiting in the queue.

We were picked up by Nike and Mr A in our hired car, so have no idea what the typical cost of a taxi to the city costs.
For those of you who have caught a taxi, how easy was it, and what was the cost?
Is it worth paying in advance for Airport Transfer (e.g. Ryanair Website), especially if arriving in the early hours??

For those of you who have flown with Easyjet, please post details of which Airports they fly from.

For those of who have flown straight to Tangier, how did you arrange your flights (direct or stopover?).

When enough of us have posted our experience, Benny should have sufficient info to write up the guide for this part.

Thought I'd add a little here. I've got tickets with EasyJet from Gatwick and it cost me £70 ish round trip to Marrakech from Gatwick (£100 inc luggage). I much prefer flying out from Gatwick as the location is good, Luton I have also used for returns with EasyJet. Flight time is 3.5-4hrs.

Taxis are fixed price normally as they have this stated on their car on a sticker on the windscreen, I believe it is government mandated. It's about 200dh but I could be wrong. It should be less if you are staying in the city but we were further out.

Lol, having been there a few times I thought the going rate was whatever they thought they could get away with.
I've always let the wife do all the talking since she's Moroccan. We usually pay 100 from the airport to Hivernage but that includes a nice tip as well so that we can get his number and use the same guy throughout the stay.

My AirBnB host has organised a private pickup for me this time. 150MAD. Its worth it just because he'll know exactly where to take me.

Offline toon972

Always ask first the price for taxi before you get in. I usually pay 100 dirhams but once paid 200 when I never asked price beforehand.

How is it with alcohol that we buy at the airport flying out? Are the customs an issue? Apart from that, how convenient is it to buy booze in Marrakech? Thanks in advance.

Hi
You will have no problem with alcohol with customs along as you are within the limits allowed per person i should think. Alcohol is abundantly available in supermarkets. I am sure I seen plenty when I was there last year. Hope that helps

Alcohol:

Keep Well Stocked up at the Apartment.

Can we bring some from UK Duty Free? Yes is the short answer. Pricewise, Kesh is slightly cheaper, but we did not want to run around town, so instead bought a selected few favourites from the Duty Free shop on the way out.

Your answer was within the wiki thread that I have posted all my notes into:

Thanks and great job CT, very helpful page that one there, saves me asking about a ton of stuff.

Anyways, I like the forum, I get now the sensitivity around contacts and at the same time am excited about finding my own once I get there. I think sleeping in the hotel is good for security and convenience. Once I get out and about, there will be less pressure finding the right guide/pad knowing I have somewhere to sleep.

I'll have 2 days to find myself a pad so I'm going to be on a hunt and will get back to you guys on what I find. Seems as though my hotel is in a good location so I can pretty much go walking around Gueliz straight out of the door.

Any tips on finding a good guide/contact? At the moment the plan is to just chat with everyone and anyone the first day and build up an idea of whats going on.

Anyways, flying out 4th Jan 17, going to stay a week in the Opera plaza for roughly £220 per person.

Once you've got there in Kesh and have settled into a hotel, make sure you post on here that you have landed in Kesh.

If you are genuine enough, there will be a few of us on here who'd be happy to help you out regarding the guide/contact.

Hey Guys! Just an update with the Neurosurgeon Dude In Marrakech. I was speaking to him yesterday and he is wanting me to pay the money for the flat to him before I arrive. He says it is because he has been mugged off in the past. If anyone should be worried about getting mugged off, it should be me right? Anyways I agreed to pay a deposit towards it but he was having none of it. He said I'm welcome to book through Air B and B but its like £100 more. A little bit confused right now so would appreciate anyones insight into this. Thanks

As genuine as some people may sound, and friendly as they may be, I'd always advise paying that little bit extra for the security that, if things don't quite work out, you've paid the £100 extra and able to get it all back than pay it all direct and your current best friend in Marrakesh disappears never to be heard of again...

That's probably because both you and him pay a commission to Airbnb

If you are worried, then just do it through Airbnb. That way you both have guarantees

Offline romeomustdie

You can make offers on Airbnb. See if you can get him to reduce the listing price and then once you have stayed the visit give a tip in cash. Try and do it that way and calculate it so your both happy.

Why not just book 1 or 2 nights through AirBnb and then book the rest when u get there, if everything checks out.
A neurosugeon who moonlights as a holiday lets host, hmmm. Would have thought someone in that line of work would use a letting agency, how does he find the time to run around , checking people in and out , I wonder. :unknown:

Hi guys, hope all is well and having a good xmas.
Just thought I'd write a little and have an input... Been throught most of the thread and it's a wealth of knowledge and information. Hats off to the guys that have kept it going.

I'm currently in Marrakech at the moment, last day of a 6 day trip out here and then off to Barca and then back to UK. It's my 6th time out here, last time being last month only, and first around 3 years ago. Boy oh boy, do I love this city. It's becoming like a second home and I'm genuinely considering buying an apartment out here.
I've gone from a total newbie paying extortionate prices for almost everything, to paying local prices for nearly everything. Luckily for me I look Moroccan and speak a little of the language, and boy does that go a long way.

Got so many stories I need to share on here for you guys. First trip was out here for 7 days with 6 mates, was meant to be an activity and excursion led trip, turned out being a club and bang fest for 7 nights. Lol. had an amazing girl I met after a club in a taxi, ended up getting an apartment with her (was booked into a riad with mates) and having night after night of partying and fun. But this bird cooked for me, did laundry, massages.. You name it. Was like a besotted wife. Lol.
She even bought her younger (and so much fitter) sister out to join us one night.. Who I had to do and eventually ended up fuxking on the last night after sneaking away.
This younger sister was a smart money grabber though, remember paying her over the odds initially for the bang, was in the apartment, got down to it and mid flow she made me stop and teased until I paid her more. In my tipsy state and horny as fuck, it had to be done. But boy oh boy, was this girl naughty or what. I still have pictures somewhere of money sprawled over her naked body and all sorts 😂

But since then, been back another 5 times. Twice with just 1 mate, and last 3 occasions travelling solo. Not been to any clubs for last couple years, and kind of been lured away from the WG scene. I take a more laid back and relaxed approach. Have met a few girls online from Facebook, tinder and a dating site... And made some genuine friends and others who are up for a nice time, up for a party and fun, like to be with a European guy for a laugh. It can help to befriend some of the girls, as it means you can get a friend with benefits ( obviously you treat them well to a nice dinner and sheesha and drinks and cover all expenses and maybe an odd gift ). I actually find that chase more exciting than that of a working girl now.
But still, that buzz of being sat at McDs or carre Eden and watching all the fit sexy dolled up birds make eye contact and initiate something is as fun as ever. I do like to have a coffee and enjoy. Lol.

But after 6 trips, making many friends, and reading up and a load of experiences I like to think I have some knowledge of Kech and the scene. So I'll try and get as much info up as possible.

Also I have a contact here who runs a car hire business, who sorts out WG friendly apartments. So I'll have a chat with him and see if he's ok for me to forward his number etc. I've known him for 3 years and he's become a good friend.

Personal fave places to eat

Stall 76 in Jma El Fnaa - Haji 'something'
Specialises in like a slow broiled lamb. So cheap, no Delhi belly and amazing. Just lamb meat slow cooked eaten with juice soaked bread. Lamb literally gals off the bone.

Fish restaurants.
There's 2/3 amazing restaurants next to each other on Ave Moulay Rachid. It's parallel to gueliz McDs, just past cafe le post and to the right. They grill/fry the freshest seafood and very cheap too.

Menara Mall
Go upstairs to the 4th floor, not so much about the food, but the view of the Atlas Mountains with a pizza or coffee or dessert is breathtaking.

Oh and you MUST try the cold fresh orange juice in Jma El Fnaa.

Taxi to and from the airport is fixed at 70DH or 100DH depending where you are going in the city. (Petit taxi). Or u can get the bus for 30Dh.
For travelling around the city, in the daytime it's usually no more than 10DH, 20 MAX. It's super cheap, but that's aslong as the meter is on or the guy hasn't automatically decided to ripping u off. Moroccans pay fuck all for a taxi, so don't shell out unnecessarily. Night time is more expensive, but even still, should never be more than 20/30DH for a decent distance.
It goes a long way to say "Salam Alikom" or call the guy "choya" (brother). Tray and learn basic French and it'll help.

Oh and another important thing... When picking up a girl, take the time and effort to be friendly, charming and have some character. Don't ask for a price straight away as it can be off putting. The girls tend to hate the Saudi guys as they treat them bad and are like animals themselves, but go with them because they pay stupid money. But often would rather go with a European guy who is a little charming. Often many of the girls are part timers and not just all out escorts. So it's nice for them if it's dressed up in cotton wool a little and a bit of a fantasy is played out to them (if that makes any sense). Lol.
I've also seen groups of Pakistani lads from England, in blinged out bright T shirts and chavvy attire, always in groups of 4-10 guys! Usually at McDs... And they're just so rude and blatant towards the girls. Often disliked by the local Moroccan guys and frowned upon highly.. They're loud and quite obnoxious at times.. And it'll only be so long before its clamped down on somewhat at McDs if that kinda behaviour continues. A little bit of respect and discretion goes A LONG way.
Some locals are oblivious to what's going on, there's a lot that know what's exactly going on, and turn a blind eye... But so long as it's discreet. Discretion is everything.

Will update more. Got loads to share. Sorry if some of it doesn't make sense, and if there are any Qs I'll help as much as I can.

Newbie Questions: can you guys let me know how a Hamam works please. (For me and the wiki).
Obviously you walk through the front door, but then what?
Do you get to choose your girl?
Where do you leave your clothes/belongings?
Do you get naked straight away for the bath or keep boxers on?
How long does the bath take or is this negotiable like the massage?

Im guessing everyones experience will differ in some way but any first hand knowledge please?

Hi guys, been following the post on the forum for a short while, and boy what an amazing read.

I initially went to Marrakech on a holiday in September 2013 to do excursions and expeditions with a group of mates, got there in the evening and decided to go for a quiet drink. And damn did the holiday change. No excursion or activities in 7 days, just Loadsa clubbing and Loadsa fun.
So far been to Marrakech 6 times now, averaging twice a year.
Got many stories to add and few tips and tricks, hopefully it'll help some of you guys out there.

Off to Fes for the first time on Sunday 6th, and flying back from Marrakech on Friday 11th. Going solo again, and nothing planned.
Be nice to see some sites in Fes, but just curious if there's a scene out there?

Catching the night train to Kech after 2 days to spend the rest of my time there. I have "friends" in Kech, but dunno what I'll get upto. Nothing planned yet. If anyone is about, feel free to hook up. I'm open and up for a laugh and with some previous knowledge and experience.. Things should be fun :)

Vossen.

V,

Thanks for a detailed report. Great to read the experiences of newbies.

Now that you've been 6+ times, hopefully you'll provide info for others so that they can avoid any pitfalls, epsecially any newbies.

As part of the wiki guide, for this fortnight, I have targetted flights to Morocco.

Can you please provide details of what flights you took from the UK, and indication of the prices that you have paid in the past.

Cheers.

June is also £50 currently

Agree with Steve2, budget airlines will set you back £50-£70 return exc luggage. Expect to pay double this if booked on shorter notice or with BA.

For those that don't know, BA includes meals and drinks (alcoholic).

Newbie Questions: can you guys let me know how a Hamam works please. (For me and the wiki).

Obviously you walk through the front door, but then what?  - The lady at the reception will present a rate card which would generally state the prices for hammam/massage for 30 minutes and 60 minutes. You could then negotiate a discounted price and all this depends on your negotiation skills. I get a decent discount from the menu price every time but all my friends usually struggled with it.

Do you get to choose your girl? - Yes, you can ask the receptionist to show all the girls and choose one. You can also choose one for Hammam and one more massage.

Where do you leave your clothes/belongings? - Usually in the massage room itself on the hangers. For Hammam, there was a little change place in the place where I visited. In one of my earlier experience they asked me to place the phone/wallet in a box and keep it in a safe place. The keys will remain with you. Generally I found this to be safe and nice experience.

Do you get naked straight away for the bath or keep boxers on? - You can get naked straightaway unless they give you the robes or use and throw boxers. This again depends on the place.

How long does the bath take or is this negotiable like the massage? - As long as you have agreed and paid. They usually are very accommodating and try to please you the most. If you want HJ/BJ or Sex in the hammam or massage, wait until the end and then ask about it because the whole experience can lead to a fantastic climax. When you ask at the beginning of the session, they will quickly get into grabbing your balls and make you come quick which may leave you disappointed. The whole experience is what that makes the hammam/massage experience rock.

Im guessing everyones experience will differ in some way but any first hand knowledge please?

Benny.

Hello all,

We have just completed a 4 day/3 night trip to Marrakesh and once again it was amazing. The police/security presence seemed more than usual and it could just be for the new year.

Here are some tips for the newbies.

Hammam/Massage: There are loads of hammam and massage places in the Gueliz area and you cannot miss it. Usually it will be in the 2nd or 3rd floor of the buildings and it will be clearly sign posted. Almost all of them offer extra services (may be some in the hotels don't, but I haven't come across one yet) and some will propose it themselves and some you may have to ask for it. It depends on the girl and the place.
There are couple of places near Acima mall (near La flamme coffee in Gueliz) and they are just about OK.

There are a couple of Spa's further away from La Flamme and they are the best one in my opinion. If anyone want names, just pm me.

I have personally found hammam/massage to be more relaxing than getting the girl to the apartment. It is just a personal choice and there are merits demerits to both. I found the experience of finding a girl, getting their number, haggling for the price and organizing them to come to the apartment, sorting out the security and all that taxing.

Coffee shops/Mcdonalds/Starbucks: Exactly as discussed here and I don't have anything to add.

This thread is slowly dying  :scare:

Unless of course all the newbies are reading the Wiki Guide first, instead of simply posting their queries on here  :D

Indeed.  How can a thread, that started nearly 3 years ago and is now 122 pages long, be dying?

BTW, I asked Admin to add the Morocco wiki guide so that it is permanently embedded in this thread.

He has duly obliged. Check at the bottom of every post in this thread

Now newbies have the full wiki guide staring them in the face, and only a click away.

Cheers Admin  :hi:

Yeh Im sure the reports will start up again when we all start flying out there. I've just 3 weeks to go myself until I fly out.
And the good news is I might be making another short visit in late April too.
