No. It's the opposite which is true. Far too many punters fear losing face on forums and decline to do negatives. That's why shit and dishonest providers have glowing feedback on AW.
Even on UKP, as a golden rule I always x 10 a pro$$ies negative feedback to counter the imbalance.
I'm sorry now but really? I get awork feedback is pointless... but on here where you should have a completely different username to awork and in the case of a negative leave details vague enough that you can't be singled out? (unless it was so bad that you can't really do that) I thought that would be lesson 101 in this scene.
If you're afraid of losing face on a forum, just grow up, leaving honest reviews and feedback is better appreciated in the long run.
I thought this forums was rather good at rooting out fake reviews and fluffies anyway?
I'd be interested to know who these "review circle jerks" are that you mention.
As for Mrgbyld87 he's been here long enough as have you to know that countering a negative review and attempting to address the perceived imbalance that negative causes, in their eyes, is white knighting.
Aka when people only bring up negative experiences, months if not years later, despite not leaving a review. It's completely pointless as those individuals could of helped the OP prior but chose not to and only added to the discussion for the aforementioned circle jerk. It's something 'all' forums have problem with. Admittedly you can say the opposite is true as well, but more seasoned members know not to for the precise reason you stated. I'm not saying this review is an example, but they're not too uncommon.
My main point however is if you accept people will post on a review saying that their experience was also bad, you have to accept people will also post saying if their experience was not the same. Would you complain if someone posted something negative in a positive review? I doubt it!
I get gbyld87 is not the most active or seasoned members, but hardly seems like a fake or white knight account. If she was a east midland regular, and everyone joined the thread saying 'uh that's weird etc' it gives the OP's review more context and helps other users make an informed decision. I would much rather a user state on a positive or negative review if their 'recent' experiences doesn't match the OP's than say nothing at all. Obviously reviews are best, but a good review a day or two after a negative usually gets the same white night response (admittedly sometimes rightly so).
Mini rant over, I think I have a bit too much spare time on my hands!
FYI I think this review certainly is a red card, cancelling once in the hotel lobby is a definite automatic no!
