People generally do it tongue in cheek. Not a fan of it personally as there is always the possibility that someone won’t read the whole thread and assume that was actually said but it’s not against the rules as far as I know.

People can click quotes and make up their own mind on the context.   

OM's old form of quoting though was annoying and didn't allow this.

I've now read your reviews for the first time, and to me they read as advertising copy inspired by Jackie Collins...........in short fluffy bollocks. Yes, they do look decidedly pimpish when taken as a whole.

I had read the rules many times previously and changing the content of a post by editing is not mentioned. Seems to be an area that needs guidance, otherwise some of the posts are going to get out of hand IMO.
