Author Topic: Parking where WG says to park - what can they do with a license plate number?  (Read 8251 times)

Offline Jeff_withpetersen

Hi all,

A regular WG I've seen around a half dozen times is now saying I have to park on her drive when I visit. I've always been averse to this but in this instance, she is an English independent WG who I have no indication at all has a 'Sergei' on the scene to break in to car/threaten to out me or anything like that. Never given me any indication that she could present trouble and frankly even if she did 'hunt me down', so what ... I'd politely state how flattered I was she'd come to visit me and ask her for in a cup of tea rather than shatting my pants, what's the issue?

I prefer to maintain complete security by parking a street or two away but if I park on the drive, even if she takes my license plate, what can she actually do with it? I know that a person can request details from DVLA for £2.50 but I'm finding it hard to believe the DVLA just give it out - if they did, any nutter who sees a hot woman in a supermarket car park would be £2.50 away from knowing exactly where she lives, or someone who thinks you've pulled out on them and experiences major road rage could track you down, surely that's not actually how the world works?

Anyone know what someone can actually do with a license plate? I'm assuming if a person has someone on the inside at the DVLA then that's a different kettle of fish but is it really such a security risk in this life to have someone know your license plate?

Offline cueball

I don't really think too much about number plates but I never park where instructed as I don't want my car linking to a prossies gaff.

If it is then any skallies will then know that robbing my car will not see me running down the street with my trollies around my ankles.

It's an easy picking for the less than honest.

I go in as a bloke walking down the street and come out as a bloke walking up the street.

Offline NelsonH

Whats wrong with you!

The day will not come when I park where some crazy bint tells me to.

I'd just tell her  I like to make my own choice of where I park AND who I visit.

I don't understand the insistence about where to park.

However, sometimes the information provided about parking can be perfectly innocent. For example, where I work there is only really one decent public car park nearby, it is about a 5 minute walk from where I work and I certainly can't see the car park out my window. I'm just being helpful! I am sure some girls are being helpful as well.

As far as I am aware, the only thing you can use the license plate for is to report to the police if there is a crime, in order to trace you.

From a license plate she can get the registered owner's details very easily these days.

Anyone with access to the police national computer can get your details from the VRM. That includes civvies working for the police anywhere in the uk.

There is no reason for her to dictate where you park.

DONT do it.

She could find out when the MOT is due and if it has road tax.

I'm surprised she wants you to park on her drive. You'd think the last thing she'd want is attention at her own gaff. Cars pulling in, a bloke going in who stays for 30 mins an hr or longer then departs. Possibly several times a day, different car and bloke. I'd look at it the same way as going to score, park 5 mins walk away then wear a pulled down beanie or hoodie n possibly shades to go in to the house.

Offline jordan452

Not wise even though she's a regular anything can go wrong. For example maybe her ex may get your plates and and try to blackmail you.

Offline mcardle464

I totally agree: park somewhere out of sight.  It is all of a piece with having a punting phone and not using AW on a work computer.

Put it this way: what benefits can there be to you?  None.

Can there possibly be bad outcomes, as yet unforseen?  Yes.  Therefore it is not worth doing.

To have access to the PNC you have to work for the police. Working for the police you have to tell the police you have a second job, which I doubt they would be okay with an employee being a prostitute.

You can obtain the name and address of the registered keeper of a vehicle if you can show reasonable cause for needing the information (That might include allowing you to contact the keeper of a vehicle that's been abandoned on your property, for example).

I usually park at the nearest superstore (2 - 3 hours free parking) and walk the last 5 - 10 minutes.

If that's not an option, I reccee the area for suitable parking options where i'm not going to annoy any neighbours.

In all probability the WG quoted by the OP has had hassle from neighbours about her "visitors" blocking their drives.

Her neighbours will be more concerned about their driveways, or "their" space outside their house, than what you're doing with her inside her house.

OK so this partly depends on what has been said and how, your post indicates that she is saying "You have to" park on her drive which set alarm bells ringing whereas "I've seen you a few times now so you can park on my drive if you want" is a completely different dynamic.
If she is insisting then I wouldn't park on her drive, in fact i wouldn't see her again however if she has made what seems like a kind offer to a trusted regular then it may all be innocent.
Personally like most on here i'm wary of parking exactly where instructed as it feels like a set up to be robbed or your car broken into.
On occasions i've seen girls who worked in gated apartments with a dedicated parking bay so it seems fair enough to be directed to the right bay though on one visit I rang to say the bay already had a car in it (previous punter) and was told to park anywhere

Any query on PNC can be auditted and needs to have some justification. Yes it does happen that queries are run without "just cause" but if its found not only can the person loose their job they can also be done for "computer misuse" and get a criminal record.

One lady in York insisted I park in a certain place from where she would talk me to her house, she was observing from the bedroom window. I think it was a way of vetting clients, if she didn't like the look of you I guess she'd put the phone down. When I got there there was road works and the space wasn't accessible from the direction I was driving, she was quite put out that I'd apparently ignored her instructions. Obviously it can't be a vetting process if she wants you to park on the drive, but it's unlikely there's any thing suspicious about it.

Well deferently you can say to her you walking from train station or bus stop if you paranoid to much  it's your choice     make sure you not late for your booking, but my serviceprovider opinion I don't care were you park your car on my street or other street  -it's usually only benefit you bring your cock fast to my door ,i remember once text my flat number and 5min later hi was walking still to me ,10min later still not even close     :scare:  20min I was panicking lost my lunch time and was trying helping him -i look myself at Google maps to see what street hi was talking about    :unknown:   in Morley  well hi deferently park far away from my post code.

No way l’d take any notice of that. I arrive at the door at exactly the minute I’m supposed to, how I got there is fuck all to do with them.

The DVLA don't just give out registered keeper information on demand. You have to be registered with them Councils Parking Companies Bailiffs etc are registered. Insurance Companies can get them because they alllow the DVLA access to the insurance database.
If you are in an accident or your vehicle / property is damaged and you have a resistration number but no other details you have to go through your insurer or the police.
As for parking where a wg tells you...why would you?
I prefer to park where I choose.

Who knows what can be done with my reg no but when any WG says I have to park where she says alarm bells are ringing loud and clear, one reason being while I am in the punt her partner or pimp could be trying to nick the car or anything in it for all I would know.

Why take that risk is my thinking, I park where I choose to park and go elsewhere if the WG continues to insist. I get round all this nowadays by saying I am getting a cab if asked, how I get to and from a punt is not a WGs business and totally irrelevant for them to know.

Offline Redbull4

Where is her car parked? Same drive?

Most likely an innocent comment as neighbours are complaining about lack of parking around there own house.

Offline Jeff_withpetersen

Feedback duly noted, as has been said on here it's an odd request to give to a punter who she's seen six times now over a period of six months - if she's concerned about curtain twitchers then what is the difference between having blokes walk up compared to blokes parking right outside?

Nothing to gain and everything to lose for me as a punter, even if it is just an innocent request. Having said that I think we've established that it's unlikely a WG could actually do anything with a plate number so maybe this is a security precaution too far, but if any ladies see this - if you're dealing with a guy you've seen before, or who has good AW feedback, please don't start messing about asking us where to park as it's completely unnecessary and does raise alarm bells.

IMO who knows how many punters parking on her drive per day is less discreet than punters walking in and out assuming they don't loiter around for ages. The car is sitting their for the length of the punt, punters coming in and leaving can only be seen at those times.

Its simply not a WGs business how I get to and from a punt and totally irrelevant to the punt.

Say she was a hairdresser or physiotherapist or violin teacher or life coach working from home....... you would not bat an eyelid at parking on her drive. I have no problem parking outside their gaff or on their drive or where they suggest...... one thing less to worry about if they offer parking directions or advice in my view.

Offline Jeff_withpetersen

But a hairdresser wont be able to blackmail you if they get access to your personal details, nor would your relationship/personal life be at risk if a violin teacher told your missus you'd been over there.

Offline mcardle464

Exactly, Jeff.  There's no point in taking a chance.  You could equally post here under your real name - probably nothing would happen, but it isn't something anyone should do!!!!

Offline dynatron

must admit one regular working girl who id see a lot always said i could park on driveway-never thought about it as parking was no issue in her cul de sac and surrounding roads so parked a minute or so walk away but i guess you have to be careful

Online Dr Watson 60

On the other hand of course the WG may see you as a regular whose business she wishes to keep. As a no cost  ( to her ) incentive she offers you parking at her place to avoid you paying for parking in a public or supermarket car park or wearing out your shoe leather.

Offline Jeff_withpetersen

Well as I say, most punters will NOT want to park on a driveway or indeed give up their license plate to anyone as why is that necessary? So any WG offering that 'favour' of parking is just going to create awkwardness in that instance with the punter saying they wish to decline.

Most of you use a punting phone to maintain anonymity. Parking where you car reg is identifiable by the prossie or her pals totally breaks that anonymity. Don't forget there are plenty of people who can access your registration details: a few quid to a council employee can go a long way.
Why would a prossie want your number?
Self protection in case you're a nutter
Blackmail / extortion
Setting you up for a mugging

Also remember its not unknown for authorities to have cameras monitoring suspected brothels

NEVER park close enough to be identifiable

Well the WG can offer a punter the option of parking on her drive but if he says no thanks then if she is ok with that there isn't a problem. Its WGs who insist punters park where they say that I see as a potential problem.

NEVER park where WGs say even if they insist is my advice, just go elsewhere. As I said above this scenario isn't relevant to me nowadays as I say I am coming by cab and going on public transport even though I may really be driving myself. Its totally irrelevant for a WG to know how I really got to her place and none of her business.

My experience has been that the wg asks me to park on a nearby road to hers so her neighbours dont get suspicious
That seems to be the safest option for both of us!

Some romulons tho... u ask em about parking, and they don't have a clue and think its too much effort to suggest somewhere

The only other experience that relates to this topic is visiting a wg whose area requires parking permits
In that case u have little choice where to park but the good ones will have a permit ready for u

Offline Shybloke250

This thread reminds me of one occasion where I booked a session with someone who I'd not seen before and she had sent me a message saying come to this road and park up then ring me and I'll give you the house number.
I decided to ignore that and park on the next road. I can't quite remember why I did that, might have been a case of people about and I chose somewhere quieter.
Anyhow, to get to the point, I had inadvertently parked directly outside her front door. She was getting punters to park on the next street to where she actually was so to avoid people parking by her house.

To be honest though, it's not something I particularly worry about. I do try to get to punts a little early to check out the parking situation. Sometimes I do park where the WG suggests if it looks the best safe place, but on occasions, as above, I will choose elsewhere.

Hotel car parks are another no go for me due to fines and the exit gate ticket or code.

From a license plate she can get the registered owner's details very easily these days.

That is not the case, you have to have a license to apply for details of the registration plate of be able to prove that the vehicle has involved in an accident and you where not able to inform the driver.
Not sure where you think you can get details from - something called data protection act, DVLA will not just give out the details of any random request

Offline shagmore

Basically park where you feel safe, and not by where they say unless you feel it is ok. I don't have an issue with English WGs but am a bit more careful of EE WGs as they are usually in more dodgey areas, its just for safety of car, not for someone tracking down the number plate - which is very difficult as stated above

No they cant, have a mate who is a serving police officer, its illegal for anyone to access your details from the dvla or national police computer, unless they have a valid reason, ie involved in a rta , and the dvla wont just give out personal details to anyone that either pays or not without a valid reason  :dash:

Sure you should park where it suits you, but isn’t this worrying about being blackmailed from your car details just paranoia? Are there many punters who have been blackmailed by WGs? As I see often posted here... Maybe this is the wrong hobby if you’re getting that worried?

Really - I do not believe they give out personal details, i.e.. name, address etc - as stated before Data protection act 1998. If anyone gives out these details they are breaking the law - FACT.

No its not paranoia in my case, its being careful, punters including a number on here have been outed by low lifes so its not as though its never happened, and who knows if their car reg no played a part or not, I wont be risking it. For me paranoia is when the worry is more than the fun of punting, that's not the case fortunately for me.

Once I again my point is why take the chance however small that chance may be when parking away from a WGs place is so simple. As I said above I say I am coming by cab if asked nowadays so this issue doesn't come up of being told where to park and a WG insisting on it.

Not convinced, for companies they have to prove what that they are going to use the data for (clamping companies etc), and it costs more than £2.50 per search.
Cant find any mention of owner details for £2.50. yes you can find out about the car, but you know that already.
