Are they anticipating an anti-Russian backlash? I certainly hope that doesn't happen, as I suspect most Russians are as appalled by what is happening as we are. Don't blame some poor Russian WG for Putin's ego-mania.
Perhaps, perhaps not. It was just there to show which languages their operators speak; from what I know they aren't Russian, but do speak the language. It's a wise move on their part anyway.
A backlash is almost certain. Soviet rule was no fun so I don't blame Eastern Europeans one bit for disliking (an understatement) the revanchist madman in Moscow. Western Europeans (the UK included) will necessarily wake up to higher food and energy prices and increased military spending. Ordinary Russians aren't to blame, of course, but I do imagine that, for a few months, there will be a stronger degree of resentment against the kleptocrats who launder their ill-gotten proceeds in Mayfair and Knightsbridge.
