It can sometimes be quite useful in comms with some indys.
Afaik the WhatsApp account is seen as being linked to the phone number not to you so just pop your burner sim into say an old cheap unlocked iPhone, invent a punting name for the account and bingo!

I find that a lot of the legit Brazilian WG's have a business account in Whatsapp with a profile pic matching their AW/Kommons counter part.
It may just be superstition but my successful (non-bait & switch) punts have been with those that had them.

I never message on WhatsApp either, but I always just check to see if an account with a profile picture is present before booking.
