About 30 years ago (indeed around the time Bubbles closed) Bus drivers, as they were approaching the area used to shout "Next stop, Tel Aviv!" Imagine a Kosher Pollokshields, if you will. Has one of the biggest Synagogues in Europe apparently.

You're right though, Shawlands is your closest bet. Only 10 min straight down the road and wee bit of variety too.

FFS from the day and hour it opened it was absolutely NO secret what went on in it. All the pretty wee bungaloes along the road up to it had a new entertainment. 'Switch the telly aff lets play spot the shagger'.

Agree Auldie, it was not discreet in any way, and for that reason I always avoided it...terrible location for a hoor hoose!

Aquarius was like that to. Used to be lots of offices around with people going in and out all the time on weekdays. Never bothered me when I was a regular there for years. Might start a thread on the good old days there.

I was told the owner handed in Xmas cards to the neighbours, every year, with a small token of thanks. Monetary thanks.

might have been a terrible location, but was very busy, ther was a small  brick stairway from the main road to too the entrance

One of said neighbours (maybe) painted 'looking for business' on Bubbles side wall. One of the girls was given a paintbrush to cover it over.

But back to OP, Giffnock- no chance. Shawlands, Pollokshields, Landside not too far away.

Did its exposure by the Record contribute to its closure?  They wanted it closed, for sure, as the Daily Record was ''having a blitz on sleaze.''  I had some good times in there, long ago.

Usual pish 'our reporter was offered this that and the other for £XX but politely declined and left', that will be right! Also I don't think that at that time those prices are anything like accurate, they are more like today's prices I think. Suspect some reporter who never even left the office indulged in a bit of fantasy and pulled figures out the air.

One in Paisley was £5,8 or10 and I never paid more than £30 to the girl. But the bastards 'never had change' so if you wanted 45min you had to have it with you, which didn't please them.
