Not a good idea to mention hotels by name on a public forum. This is advised in the Punting Wiki, which is well worth reading if you're new to UKP  :hi:
External Link/Members Only #3
But then the rules say :

Privacy of service providers
It is generally not allowed to post personal info of service providers, such as real names and personal social networking profiles. Phone numbers may be posted in full only if they are published in adverts / profiles. Hotels may be named.

Confusion for the newbies !

Yes, that was the original document, dating from Aug 2010.  :hi:
The Wiki is updated fairly regularly and, imo, makes sense not to mention names precisely for the reasons illustrated in the Wiki: hotel management decide to introduce electronic key-cards.
Bad move for punters, less money for prossers

Agree, my point was maybe the riles need a tweak or a link to the wiki, rather than mixed messages.

After all the rules is the rules, the wiki is advice in the eyes of a newbie !

I was approached the other day for the first time in a hotel reception when on a punt  :scare:

Luckily it was just to be helpful and showed me the direction to the lifts.

I don't think they really give a shit.

Thank you. This really is the best approach. If I get even slightly anxious, I march up to Reception and ask for directions to the lifts.  :hi:

Guys; could I please call upon your collective experience?

I have a number of stunners on my Hot List that solely appear to work out of hotels and being a total punting noob,
I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable with this, as having read some of your reviews, it seems that you often have issues
getting past hotel reception.

What's the best plan of attack in this situation?

Do you need to agreed a cover story with the WG, just in case you get challenged by reception staff or security?

Any advice / comments would be appreciated  :hi:

Most hotel staff are morons. They won't notice you, and even if they do they won't care. If they question you just act offended, and ask for their name and their managers name. They'll shit themselves.

I don't frequently punt at hotels but when I do, i'm not in the least bit concerned.

Getting past hotel reception? I fucking walk!

If I am politely asked, can I help you sir? I will either respond by

a) looking at her up and down and say you certainly can love but my wife would not be too happy.
b) asking why she thinks I need help
c) taking off my coat and hat, giving them to her and saying thank you. Just follow me up to my room darling

Its not a typical reaction of any hotel to suspect that whoever walks in is there to fuck one of their guests. If they approach you its because its a fucking services industry and they are trying to be helpful and you may look lost.

I'm visiting a friend or relative
I'm looking for the bar
i'm just waiting for somebody
Can you point me to the lifts

Nothing you say can arouse the suspicion that you are there to fuck a guest, unless you are 70 years old, holding £100 in cash and a 22year old comes to meet you in reception dressed like a slut.

If you dress like a civilised himan being, they wont even suspect you are there to rob the place either so will assume you are either a guest or hear to visit a guest.

Paranoia can be a real bitch  :hi:

When heading into hotels then punting obviously at the forefront of my thoughts.  Invariably i price up the receptionists.  Usually not that high but occasionally there will be a girl-next-door-fit-bird type look.  Better to engage with eye contact rather than not.  Naturally they fancy me which makes things easier

I honestly couldn't care less about walking through hotels. I've been to job interviews and meetings in hotel rooms. I didn't think I looked suspicious then and that's exactly how I feel when going to meet a prostitute.

If it's not a small family run hotel with say 6 rooms, you should be fine.

Every hotel I stay in has people coming and going all time.  Checking in, out, conferences, Costa coffee attached, people just using the free Wi-Fi in the lobby / other seating areas etc.

The only other problematic ones may be the ones with keycards for the lifts or the front door after 11pm.

I committed a major punting faux pas a few days ago.

Staying in a major city centre hotel I noticed after booking in that the lift required a key card. I mentioned this to the agency when booking my outcall. 'No problem' they said. Your WG will go to the seats near the lift entrance, you meet her there and go up to the room together. We'll call you when she's arrived.'

So, I went down to the lobby 5 mins before the arranged time - but forgot the last bit about the agency calling me. I looked around and about for a woman looking like she might be the right size, shape and face behind the blurred face on the website. There were a few likely lookers hanging around for something to do, and eventually I went over to one and asked, 'Hello, are you ****?' 'What?', she said. I asked again, and when she said no, I fumbled 'Sorry, I mistook you for someone else'. Just then, my phone rang and the agency directed to where booking was waiting for me, and very nice too.

We had a bit of a laugh about this later on upstairs. We wondered whether my booking, and the woman I approached, might have, in fact, been on the same mission.

Will thin kthis through better next time though. All my fault.

I've only ever punted once at a hotel and it was a doddle. The front desk at the Premier Inn couldn't have been more disinterested (much to my relief) and I just waltzed through.

Offline bobdavid

If concerned you could carry an empty pizza box in with you, make sure you leave it or looks suspect leaving with the box.

This could backfire badly... I've stayed at hotels and, after seeing their restaurant prices, ordered takeaway. The staff downstairs are rarely happy about this, often calling the room, asking "did you order a Chinese takeaway?!?" in an exasperated voice and then taking the takeaway off the delivery driver (I pre-paid) and bringing it to my room with cutlery and a plate ... then hanging around thinking I'm going to give them a tip for them helping make sure my takeaway goes cold.

If that happened with an empty pizza box, there's going to be even more confusion...

"Did you order an empty pizza box?!?!?"

With the increasing number of hotels now employing ex military personnel and tactics to catch punters it is vital to have a complete cover story and ideally good fake ID in case you are caught. I was once held for 28 hours in a Premier Inn and was only able to get security to release me as I had a false passport.

I have heard of other hotel chains using razor wire in reception and one even installing a minefield :bomb:

I suggest to avoid any problems to wear full camouflage and enter through a first floor window

I punted in hotels twice only. First time it was raining so i took an umbrella with me. It was a long journey - from SE London to Heathrow Airport area. And make a guess - it was sunny there! So i walked across hotel reception with my umbrella and girls who were there at the desk (they were not busy) asked me why i had an umbrella while it was sunny outside. I had to improvise quickly so i told them my wife wanted me to carry one with me in case of rain. They laughed but didn't ask about other things so i could walk freely. However i was stressed out!

Offline mrdiamond77

Only punted at a hotel once and it was last month.  Economy chain hotel, just put my phone to my ear pretending to have a conversation with someone while walking to and waiting for the lift.  I did remember to turn the phone off first in case it rang.  It was easy, nothing to worry about.

Never visited a WG in a hotel but if I did this is how I would do it! Go through front door, have a wee reconnoitre, find a pillar, run up to the pillar out of the view of reception, get on all fours, crawl at a fast pace as near to the desk as possible.  Once past, stand up, adjust one's attire and casually walk to the stairs/lifts.......easy!  Don't forget to repeat the process on the way back!  :D

I just walk past reception and head straight for the lift, don't really see what the problem is. Most big hotels have folk coming and going all day so just blend in. I did once say a cheeky hello to the rather nice receptionist on my way past - if she'd known what I was up to she could have joined in for a threesome.

I'm sure hotel receptionists are good at guessing both punters & escorts coming in & going out of hotels.  99.99%+ won't give a monkeys.  For hotels its good business.  And in the pukka ones even better as room service spend can be extravagant.  Did a session with one of my mates & we got a couple of hoors in.  Calling room service for several of bottles of champagne was funny when they asked how many glasses ?  Errr....... 4  :scare:

In reality as you know there isn't any problem, but some punters clearly aren't very confident people and that's a big understatement. Only in a small hotel or B&B where you do get nosey parker owners might there be a problem, a punter would be very unlucky to have a problem in a medium or large hotel.

As has been said several times, confidence is key, along with getting good directions to lifts and room if it's complicated.

Most escorts know which hotels are best - usually the larger ones where there are guests and others milling around and the lifts are near.

As an added precaution if you lack confidence, you may wish to book early evening when the hotel will be busiest - ie guests checking in, returning from their days out or having a drink/meal.

Only time I got challenged was at a small hotel in Slough when I failed to give the WG enough time for a shower and she failed to answer. He said: "Can I help you", to which I said "no" and left.
Fortunately, the rooms were right next to a bar so got WG to text me when she was ready. Then waited for receptionist to clear off and went back.

Sometimes hotels, though, can be too big - Park Inn, Heathrow, being a case in point, when I failed to find the room and missed a booking (still not sure if that was the WG giving me a bollox room number or went to the wrong part).

More hotels are using keycards, so you can't get to the rooms or even the lifts without one, and some say you have to pay at reception to park, so I try to park nearby instead.

You could always ask for some extra towels as well

No, an extra pillow for Sir, surely?!

I stay in hotels quite a lot and feel apprehensive walking past reception even when I'm not punting. It's fucking ridiculous! I have had a pretty embarrassing time in reception one time when I was on a punt.

I had an incall at a hotel in Gatwick Airport and parking in the hotel car park was the only option. I collected a ticket for the car park at the barrier. I had expected to pay at a machine or something, but parking was free. The ticket stated "take to reception for validation on exit".

After my punt I duly took the ticket to reception and the EE guy who had watched me exit the lift, kept repeating with seemingly limited English, louder and louder, "what room number?" I told him I had just been at a meeting "what room number?" It was rather embarrassing but I guess the system required him to enter a room number. Eventually he, (and the rest of the guests in reception) seemed to realise the reality of the situation. I never went back to that hotel.

In another hotel in east London I had to pay £1 for an hour parking at reception as I left, and maybe I'm paranoid but I swear she was giving me a knowing (and disgusted) look as she handed back the ticket. I was surprised the parking hadn't actually started the 2nd hour, I obviously couldn't have had my full hour with the wg!

I prefer to avoid hotel car parks these days.

Offline DDBOY

Much prefer hotels, adds a little to the excitement and good place to have a drink and check messages if a little early.  Did visit a lady once in a serviced apartment in Kings Cross,  after  a very good time I left but managed to exit via a different lift which needed a card. Found myself in the basement with the caretaker, who then used his card to get me back to the entrance floor. Only problem the building also had some student accommodation and I had to get security to let me out. Has seen a cracking lady for 2 hrs so I really did not care too much !.

On an incall to my hotel in Sydney,  escort left and I found a not very discrete printed business card left by the sink, glad I had found it before the maid !.

Well I am nearly 70 and earlier this year met a stunning 25 year old in the Reception area of a hotel chain. I had over £100 in cash but in my wallet. I kissed her on the cheek and said lovely to see you again. As we walked towards the lift I could not resist  a crafty backward glance and 2 Indian business men in the bar area Plus the male receptionist had a look on their faces saying " how the hell did he pull that one ? I would pass the reception having first made sure I know the room number and the floor from the sp. If the reception asks who you are and whether you have a room, then I would give my name and ask them to call the room saying I am visiting the guest in that room who is expecting me. There is no reason to feel uncomfortable about any of this in my view.
Big hotels 200 rooms or more - reception don't normally bother. Smaller ones might, but I would just say that.

If you don't know where you're going, best to approach the reception saying you're there to see the guest in such and such room, may I know where the lift is please.
Some inevitably ask guest name, to which you should say my name is *** she is expecting me please ring the room to confirm. Unless the sp explicitly asks not to talk to reception, in which case she MUST give clear, detailed directions. If not, it's not yiur fault.
I've worked at receptions ina couple of hotels, they are normally cool people who are unlikely to interrogate, so just asking for the directions to the lift would probably also work. Even some actual guests forget their surroundings quickly and often ask where things are.

I think most wgs would be unhappy with this approach, especially if we all follow your lead and 5 or 6 men ask for the same room. You also have the added risk that they will insist you give the name of their guest and if you only know her as Anal Annie, there could be a problem.

True, bad advice, once and she'd get away with it, several punters a day asking at reception and her cover is blown, if the hotel is anti whores she will be kicked out, some punters might think what do I care, but end of the day it might deprive other punters of seeing her. If a punter is so silly and indiscrete maybe he shouldn't punt at hotels.

You wouldn't think so would you? I once had a booking that turned out to be a hotel with a lift that needed a cardkey. The WG insisted on giving me verbal instructions about how if I went to the second floor where the restaurant was then you didn't need the card. Then if you followed just these instructions you'd get to another lift that didn't need a key and so on. It was like mission impossible!

I realise that using hotels for some can be nerve racking but really isn't that bad.

First of all don't park in their car park unless it's free and no barriers, which to be honest is highly unlikely these days.

Park up near by and then take a walk up and give the place a recce.

Once You get the text and hopefully the lift directions if it's not obvious, just stroll in. People mill in and out of hotel lobbies all day. You won't be noticed.

If im early enough and there's a bar I'll go and sit in there and have a non alcoholic drink. Sometimes I've asked at reception where the bar is if it's not obvious. I just tell them I'm meeting someone and I'm early. They're not going to say "Sure as long as it's not a prostitute you're meeting"

Seeing a girl in a hotel, especially if it's an upmarket one can really add to the occasion.

The hardest part for me is the parking, using google maps to suss out the area. Luckily in Manchester where I usually punt I've got to know pretty much where to park for most of the hotels I've visited.

Of course being discreet is a priority. And that rarely happens, let alone 5 punters in a row.

The only time I've been worried was a country house hotel.

The girl had booked it without realising.

Had to go past two people sitting at a wooden writing desk and then right up the stairs next to them.
I went with the technique of breezing in and checking my phone as I did it.  Difficult because I didn't really know where I was going.
Very intimidating going through it though.  Still, she had an arsehole like a mouse's ear and rimmed me senseless, so it was worth it

Agree.  When I booked to see a girl for the first time in a hotel recently I got directions from her as to where the lifts were.  Thankfully it was very easy as they were near the entrance, but I did not want to look like a complete tool walking in the wrong direction.

Had my first hotel meet recently and was absolutely bricking it beforehand. Strolled in to the reception area and there were people milling about the place and I looked like just another guest. Ended up wondering why I got myself so worked up about it, although on my way out after the punt I might have looked a bit odd on my own grinning from ear to ear

Indeed, none of this is complicated stuff unless the WG has no idea if there are keycards which would only happen if she isn't actually in the hotel herself yet. Simply ring her and get her to guide you where to meet her or she meets you outside discreetly. Some are worrying about nothing here, I go into loads of hotels, 99% couldn't give a fuck what I am doing their and most staff wouldn't just start asking questions, I ask them when on non punting business.

I have also had the early piss ups of stag nights in hotels where there were dozens of people coming and going for hours, it isn't in the business interests of hotel staff to start giving people the third degree as though they are doing something wrong. IF they already know a WG is working in the hotel and it happens the manager or other senior staff are bothered about it then yes there could be a problem. In these cases they usually kick the WG out sharpish. A punter isn't breaking any laws by punting in a hotel of course, but I do appreciate there would be an embarrassment factor if the hotel knew or thought the punter was their to punt.

Of course being discreet is a priority. And that rarely happens, let alone 5 punters in a row.

Some receptionists CAN be insistent and persist to get the answer they want - My experience was hugely embarrassing so just because you have not had to deal with an awkward situation, it doesn't mean being confident & assertive will get you out of trouble every time.

That's why I never park in the hotel carpark.
