What ever happened to the 'massage parlour'? There used to be so many, but they are slowly fading away.

Can anyone recommend any? There's the classic one in Crouch End. Any more??

No - not that far! I should have posted this in the London/South East bit of the forum.

1st post kick-off virgin!!

Times and technology have changed. Before the internet, getting a paid sex partner either meant a walk-up brothel, cards in phone boxes or a massage parlour fronting as a brothel. The latter was a somewhat easier option than the other two especially in provincial towns. But even in provincial towns a parlour faced licensing issues.

But now to find a paid sex partner you don't have to leave your home (or office). You look up adverts online, call them (no phone box needed ;) ) and visit them in their home or working flat. Who needs a massage parlour?

If this was an advert you missed the important things like the address...

By Massage Parlour do you mean a place marketed as a Sauna/Massage Parlour that are just really sex brothels?

If so there are about five in Cardiff and punters still use them.

Interesting question. I think it depends where you are looking-my impression is that in London they were dying out (because of technology as mh says high rents etc), massage parlours that used to have four girls on a shift were latterly reduced to one or two. Although I think  that there is a bit of revival recently based on oriental massage places that offer body to body and happy endings as extras

From reading these forums I get the idea that in other places such as Manchester, Edinburgh Cardiff they are still flourishing.

I rather liked parlours or regular flats when you could phone to see who was working and then bowl up, now it seems many women operate from hotels or service apartments and locations change frequently which makes getting a shag more of a pfaff.

I think there's about 5 or 6 in or close to Newcastle city center, (not the outright brothel sort though) so not fading away here.

I used to like me a parlour but I rarely bother with them any more, because for practically the same money you can book an indie (or near enough) and you get much better value for money in terms of service for the same cost...in some cases less.

As a punter your more likely to get a cleaner / showered girl, not be in a queue, not presented with a knackered girl who hasn't got the energy, not faced with everything being an extra owo, ro, kissing etc etc, not have to lay on the "dreaded towel", not have to look at the waste bin in the corner of the room overflowing with condoms and spunk tissues and most importantly not have to worry about the police busting the doors down.  lol

Well that's why I hardly go to parlours these days.

Because the police started cracking down on them in some parts of the country.

Have to say I have made more parlour visits than I can remember over the years - and that's not something that ever happened, or something I worried about.  :unknown:

Stopped using parlours after I got cheers and whistles from a load of scaffolders outside the Coach and Horses after an hour visit to my local in Carshalton Highstreet.

Even if they did try to high five me was a tad embarrassing.

A few years ago there were quite a few on the Buck/Berks area but one by one they have gone away, closed down I assume. Shame 'cos,as long as they are discreet, what's the harm? There was even one on an industrial estate....handy for lunch :D
Though I visited one near Uxbridge once and was just about ready for action when a police raid ensued  :scare
The WG has super cool and told me not to worry as I had done nothing wrong. Gave my name and address to Inspector Chisolm ,played it straight so not to cause myself unnecessary trouble, and was told to be on my way.
Well what's a chap to do? I was still horny and had parted with the dosh,so I phoned them up later to see if they were open, went back and continued were we left off  :drinks:

The House of Divine is a parlour by most definitions and I don't think they are due to go out of business. There are distinct advantages of using a parlour. You will get a clearly defined appointment slot and the parlour will be safe and clean with shower available. You will get the amount of time you paid for and the chance to look at the line up on line.
Now, I know there are great deals to be done on Adultwork with one hour punts for £60 or £80 but there are also dangerous venues, skanky ladies and scum bag pimps. This site helps you sort out the good from the bad but if it is consistency you want then imo the parlours win hands down.

Your making assumptions here about getting the time you paid for. HOD is known for cutting the time of some punters as some punters have reported on here over the years. A parlour which of course is a brothel and thus illegal COULD get raided at any time, that doesn't put me off them but it might and does as reported put some punters off them.

Its also guaranteed that a parlour is run by a pimp, with a so called Indie they might not   have a pimp though of course they might well have one. When I used to punt at The Bunny Lounge parlour when it was in Tufnell Park my bookings never started on time at the time I had booked them for, they were always late whereas I have punted with many so called Indies where the booking did start on time or there abouts so as ever it depends on the parlour and the Indie your seeing.

As they are illegal as brothels if they offer sexual services pimps may prefer to now use A/W where it appears the WGs are Indies when some or many actually aren't. The reason for this is quite simple, the pimp hopes the police wont cotton on, whereas with a massage parlour its impossible to hide the fact they are a pimp and of course the police can easily establish the facts by sending an officer in undercover.

There are obviously still some parlours/brothels in London though, most charge too much for my liking though I will and have used them on occasion if a particular WG takes my fancy.

Ads in my local paper was my most used method of locating WGs pre-net in fact followed for a while by direct and indirect contact mags then what you mention. In those days most parlours were walk-in off the street and have a look at a line-up, nowadays in my experience they are by appointment only and their is only 1 or 2 WGs working per day. Though you can ring them from nearby and they might be able to offer an immediate or near immediate booking.

I still use parlours on occasion if in the area if a WG their takes my fancy, as many options as possible suits me, though I wont punt through an Agency nowadays due to the outrageous cost as I see it, in London from £150 an hour is often the case, I can punt with many good Indies for that or a lot less.

Whereabouts is/was the parlour in Carshalton? I can't think where it would be. Know if it's still active?

But only a few from my experience are good.
By good, I mean by Bristol standards.
It is such a shame that a Sandy's Superstars or Annabellas Escorts (a massage parlour in all but name) or a HOD clone hasn't opened in Bristol to completely clean up.

Sadly parlours are on the demise :(

Most likely Due to a mixture of causes, the local authorities cracking down for valid or invalid reasons

, also particularly undesirable types getting involved in or taking over a parlour and mister plod decides for whatever reason to enforce the law

And simply crap service, ugly and/or unenthusiastic WGs etc. etc. working at these parlours, punters eventually lose interest & stop visiting .profits take a nose dive, not enough money made, so ends up closing down

Offline char45

I can confirm the Crouch End one was still going strong on Sunday with 4 East Europeans there. Agree am amazed that massage parlours still exist

Offline fantasticmrfox

I'm purely talking about city centers here and esp London. But surely gentrification and redevelopment may have something to do with it. For instance a few years ago these parlours would be a common site in some dowdy back street in inner London! But roll on a few hrs these places are fashionable and high end and so the traditional parlour has had its cummpoence!!

Don't get me wrong. I'm not stating areas should stay down and out so we can have the status quo and keep parlours. I think it's good areas are being improved (so long as it doesn't force locals out) but that could explain the demise in inner London. Plus you have so many flats, independents through online channels, the business model has has become harder to maintain.

Offline latecomer

It does seem odd that a parlour can be in business for years, clearly breaking the law if there is more than one girl working there, yet the police do nothing.  If we all know where they are, for sure the police do.  Then suddenly one day they're closed down.  I've heard that complaints from neighbours can provoke this but I don't know if this happens when an area gets "gentrified" and the new residents decide they don't want a brothel in their midst?

Offline Sonny Crockett

I wouldn't miss them for the world. The service is most of the time not as good as independents.

I’m sure in some areas that become "gentrified” the residents might not fancy a knocking shop on the door step, as it might bring the tone of the neighbourhood down lol :D

Having  noticed even  in areas that has had a brothel(s)for donkeys, that remained the same as it had been for years, but  said brothel(s) have closed down quite suddenly , :unknown:

I theorise that business rivals might have a hand in some places shutting shop as well

Offline anchorage

I certainly miss them in my neck of the woods.

One, quite bizarrely, used to have 5-8 girls working there (in S. Wimbledon). Real mixture but had a couple of excellent punts there.

Used to be a number in Surbiton and a whole 'chain' in the area run by a lady who was eventually busted.

Most long gone. I suspect there are some still going that I'm not aware of - used to find them advertised in the 'free' local papers. That also stopped a long time back.

Left now with AW and the high quota of Romanians.

Offline howrude

There's not as many parlours in Manchester as there was ten years ago. But there's still a decent amount.
