Yeah, I have to agree. The ''Top-Tips'' section is a goldmine of information - even some of the more experienced punters could do with reading it once in a while as everybody slips up now and again.

Just keeping things simple and low-tech are my modus.

That's what everyone must be wondering. I can only suspect he befriended some unsuspecting punter via pm which resulted in revealing personal info. So a lesson for you all. Unless you are 100% sure about the punter PMing you do not reveal any info.

I often receive PMs from members who don't post anything on the board requesting info, etc. I no longer reply to them.

The advice in the 'wiki' thingy is well thought through and very, very useful advice.
I did wonder, though, that if I was a widower, retired and not a significant local figure (churchwarden, town councilor, police commissioner charity trustee or whatever) with no offspring and was not a member of Rotary or whatever and generally a real 'covert' with a brother in clink for fraud (merely a hypothetical example) I wouldn't give a toss. Fortunately I do have some of the connections (as a member of the human race) and so the advice is most welcome.

Great thread Yorkshire and so very important. Incidents like this really do highlight the unsavoury side of the game. The link to punting wiki is essential but a number of key issues spring to mind for me - never discuss your UKP profile when punting  (either with a girl or a punter) and be very careful about revealing personal info either on here or via pms, even with people you think are sound. It seems a lot of punters mention UKP and or their UKP profile when making bookings and or at punts and for me it's highly dubious on so many levels. If that's what people want to do, that's up to them but I believe people who do this potentially make the girl feel awkward and they obviously make themselves identifiable. For the most part this probably won't be a problem but It's a can of worms in the long run.

I value my privacy too much and in my experience, loose lips sink ships. I hope this awful incident serves as a reminder to people that there are some unsavoury characters out there.

I think this is a reminder that we should be anonymous, even with each other here. Posting on forums isn't the same as meeting people in real life and you don't know exactly who the person on the other end is or how they react in real life to arguments/debates.

I've only been into this new hobby for a couple of months, but did lots of research and eventually found this site, amongst others.

I am fairly suspicious of the whole Facebook / Twitter / internet to begin with so before I even made my first booking I invested in a punting phone, dedicated punting email address, separate IDs for ukp and aw.

It is very easy to get complacent, but for me the risks of getting caught out or outed far outweigh the effort of being anonymous and remaining hidden.  Because this is my second, hidden, life. Remaining anonymous is an absolute necessity and I make sure it remains that way.

The trade off is worth it though.

If he set up a profile as a Service  Provider on Adultwork would that enable him to see details of those seeking services (ie us)? I'm just speculating how he, or other nutters, might find out our email addresses or phone numbers etc.
I did a search once on AW and forgot to check the female tick box (that's my story and I'm sticking to it.....!) and I was staggered at the amount of geezers with profiles; loads of them were fat old baldies with zero feedback who patently would never get a booking. It got me wondering if they had ulterior motive of somehow getting info that we can't see.
Sorry if I'm way off beam - its just incidents like today's makes you review all sides of the coin and wonder how safe your personl data is.

A timely reminder thread. Good tips in the wiki though those that do Outcalls to their home aren't following it, I just hope they aren't telling the WG their nick on here.

Its all very simple, book using a punting phone or email address and all a WG or her pimp will know about you is those details easily changed and your description which unless you are very distinctive could fit loads of punters. Tell them nothing about your real details and they cant out you.

I have one question and considering its my first outcall ever, I must classify it as a newbie question.

When booking a hotel for an outcall the hotel requires your credit card and booking details. So potentially the WG has access to this when she calls to confirm you have booked.

Should I book the hotel under an assumed name with an anonymous credit card. ???? I just cannot imagine, for example, Premier Inn allowing no name bookings ???

Smiths is 100% correct here, I cringe when I see lads posting what day and time they have a booking coming up. I never ever post any advance info, I don't even say when the punt took place (date, day) in any review too

As to reviews not having to put the date or time is a BIG advantage UKP offers in my opinion, as long as it was quite recent the exact date and time are neither here nor there to me.

  I have a gmail account in a fake name that I use, but friends who use gmail  me can see my fake name come up as linked to my real name when they send an email to my normal  account. Not a problem for me, as I'm single and don't give a shit, but it could be a problem for married/ attached guys. IoW - only use gmail for either your fake or real names - not both, 'cause Google will link them together.
