I was in leeds area in clarence dock not punting just had something to do. I heard that SKY are moving into clarence dock and will be creating around 400 jobs, but is it me that is feeling the worst, as in its going to be more busy around there, i think the free parking in that area will go..

guys discuss lets hear everyones views.

If it's a round the clock operations centre then yes.

Parking hard enough there. Multi storey v pricey

Fortunately, whenever I've been there I've always been on foot, so the parking issue isn't an, erm, issue for me.

From a non punting point of view, I think it will be good for Leeds, and good for the Dock area which appears to be a massive white elephant really.

From a punting point of view, will it stop me going to the Docks? No...but if more people are in the area it might get trickier to make appointments with popular girls.

I've parked there but not seen anyone there. What's the best post code to search on - but the LS1 does cover central area so it is tricky just getting the dockers. I'd love to park up then go see one this weekend.

Clarance Dock (or rather Leeds Dock as it is officially known for last 12 mths) is not LS1 - use LS10 1NW (that's Chadwick Street which is where the free parking is - if you are lucky! ;))

The 400 jobs are actually just the new ones they are creating - Sky are moving their whole service operation over so there will be nearly 1,000 in total (working 7am - 2am!)

I'm sure some punters may know someone @ Sky so will need their excuses as to why they are @ Leeds Dock in case they bump into them!?

Additionally there is a Ruth Gorse Academy (for Secondary pupils) being currently built on Chadwick Street (where there is free parking) which is due to open Sept 2016.

Think the free parking may disappear or be very restricted as they may not allow near a "school"?  Dependes on where the entrance will be - either Chadwick Street or Black Bull St.

Ruth Gorse academy will actually have children from Year 7 upwards at it. Going to an absolutely massive development...will probably have far more impact on the area than Sky.

Putting a school in the red light district.... really clever idea.

Why don't they just invite Sergei in to give a careers presentation to the sixth form?

Not strictly true...although Clarence Dock does seem to house half of the escorts in Leeds, it's not actually an RLD...no street prostitution there, nothing tangible for the authorities to be wary of. The actual RLD (which I believe is a "tolerated zone" from 7pm-7am is about a mile, mile and a half from there.

But I do get your point :D

If my life ever went tits up I'd go work at the tesco there. Save me a fortune on buying private galleries

Hahaha, so true!

Probably worthwhile getting a part time job there anyway...just imagine what you'd be able to get up to on your breaks  :D  ;)
