Punting phone

I thought I had an old phone knocking about but can't seem to find it so i'm gonna have to invest in getting a PAYG phone to start punting, any recommendations on where best to go, thanks.

Want one as cheap as poss, only to make calls/texts, not interested in having internet on it but want to have a pin lock, also I have never had a PAYG always had contract so if I put say £10 on the phone does it carry over to the next month?

While i'm on the subject where does everyone keep their punting phone?

The car is a no no for me as we share the car an the missus uses it to travel to her work, I don't go the gym so haven't got a gym bag so i'm gonna have to find somewhere in the house to stash it.

Plenty of supermarkets will do basic phone for next to nothing, its important to get one though, don't use your normal phone.

I doubt anyone will disclose where they hide it. Somewhere safe, where your Mrs will never go even accidentally. Wipe all calls, texts, numbers after use.

Thanks mate, no would never use my normal phone that's why I need one before I start anywhere, got a couple of places in mind just need to be extra sure that she won't go to that place.

Do you reckon I should get one for £10 or something plus Sim?

I've had a PAYG phone for about 10 years its not cheap to use but its safe, I leave mine in the vehicle but that's no use to you, even so it is always on silent and names are coded eg Stephanie is Stephen, you can never be too careful and I cancel the history daily. When it needs topping up I take the card to a supermarket and put £20 on it in cash.

Hide it in plain site I tell my Missus it's for when I sell stuff on ebay and if used for this I change sim.

As I've said elsewhere, keep the SIM and the battery separately hidden. Then it's just a useless carcass like all the others in the same drawer, and is therefore hidden in plain sight. Someone commented it was all a bit 'James Bond', but whilst I'm not married, my grown up daughters would take a very dim view of their father's hobby. All the memories are wiped after every appointment too.

Good advice that, getting the phone tomorrow so think I will do this, therefore I can leave the phone in my drawer an if she does ask I can just say it's an old phone, an it's easier to hide the SIM an battery.

I use an old iPhone with a lock code and keep it in my work bag. My wife has never shown any interest in that bag and if she found it, it's a phone I keep as backup incase my work phone dies.
But, I just realised that I need to turn off notifications, because they show up on the lock screen.

FULLY agree. Keep phone in open view or at least with no sign of being "hidden" - but in immobilised state ie no SIM or battery.  For what it will cost in the local market (£5 max maybe even less) you can even get a second one that really is duff and then they "are just junk" if anyone asks.  The guy in my local market just gave me one out of the bin for nothing.

buy a simple basic nokia phone - the type that have the old snake game on, no gps signal on those, keep it basic, keep it simple

Mine was cheap as chips anonymous from a phone shop, pay as you go, not registered to anybody, all numbers live on aw, phone empty.

Phone hidden in a place only I go.

I've changed numbers a few times over the years, just text new number to lasses I want to stay in touch with (returns).

Some good advice here , it's never really bothered me before , I have used my own phone for years for meets , but always fastidiously clear all relevant calls , messages , data etc immediately after any meetings , I keep any contacts in a separate area on my smartphone that only I can access with a motion lock , all contacts in there are on silent and no vibration or pop up notification ,  I make it clear to any contacts in that area that they must never contact me unless I initiate a conversation , and if one slips thru it comes up as unknown on the screen , the only way to check what the phone has been used for is to check my account online , and I hold the passwords to that , having said all that I am seriously thinking of purchasing a punting phone ha ha ha

Went to Tesco today an got a phone for a tenner plus SIM with £10 credit £20 in all on Tesco Mobile.

I've put in the junk drawer for a reason an that if the missus does decide to have a clear out then the phone looks like an old phone that I don't use anymore.
