I made a phone call early in the afternoon and enquired if she spoke English.
“No, solo Italiano” was the reply, so I continued with my limited Italian. This was ok as I discovered she was actually Brazilian, and, although has Portuguese as her native language, she understood my Mexican Spanish quite well. This was handy as I could understand her responses in Spanish better than her Italian.
