Condoms that detect std/sti's

I read this article today and with the spate of std post on ukp of late, even though its in trail phase at the moment i wonder/hope if this works then its would be a definate welcome for us punters but would the wg's use them? Would they be available on nhs?

I read that article and personally found the idea a bit pointless. Firstly it would be too costly to make a condom that detected a range of STI's and secondly who would want to know they had a STI just before they were about to stick their dick in?! How many women would want to proceed with an infected cock, condom or no condom?

What would make more sense is a home test kit that was as good as a blood test. I think they have a home test kit for clamydia, do they have that for anything else?

Fair point, but what if it told you what the wg had? Would you not rather know? Personally if they made those we'd be laughing all the way to the bank. Just imagine seeing a popluar wg and finding out she has x, y or z version of std/sti's

If this was developed, I imagine it would be marketed as a home testing kit, rather than to replace your regular condom.

Apparently not.  There is now a major condom manufacturer involved in the deal.  Really looks to be going forward.

Woah!  Anyone with an STI shouldn't be punting.  Anyone who doesn't know whether they have an STI, (hell, anyone who is punting at all), should be getting tested ... regularly!  It's quick, it's painless, it's free and its anonymous!

Aside from the idea of giving a disease some poor girl who is just trying to make a living, (which is in itself appalling), that kind of reckless behavior is putting all of us, (not to mention all our wives, girlfriends and lovers) at huge and completely unnecessary risk!

If this product will tell a punter that a WG has got a dose he can stop the punt and report back here.  Most WGs are clean, but this kind of publicity would really help clean up the ones that aren't.  It would also become **really** bad for business to have an STI so WGs may well use them to terminate punts with the irresponsible punters that are spreading STIs ... which is another win for all of us!
