No because you rode this particular horse recently, and perhaps your mate bet on the horse because he heard from another mate of yours that you won on the same horse.

It was more than expressing sympathy, we see it often on UKP.  When one has a positive experience and someone else subsequently has a negative or neutral one, the person who has a positive jumps on the thread to almost defend or justify her shoddy service.

Similarly the other way, when someone reviews a girl positively, and others then follow with positive reviews, that initial poster comes onto that review in an almost cocky sense and says, yep glad you had a good time, I knew you would.
